The levels of disappointment, oh let me count them all. Is there a negative star rating? I’m lost as to why this place has such a good hype around town, maybe people have«lowered expectations”(singing from Mad TV). Every food item on our table was very greasy and lacked anything special. My friend’s club sandwich slipped from her hands twice, no joke. My chicken fried steak was mostly fried breading that I cut into. Service was ok. My seat had food on it when I sat down and it did take a while until we were greeted by our server. Overall I wouldn’t go back. My two person table both ended up throwing up our dinner and feeling Ill.

This was the worst service I have ever had. We sat there for 20 min,(I know because I had already sat there then timed it) then went to hostess and asked to be waited on and we sat there another 10 min finally left and will never return. I have eaten here several times but when you get treated like this on a slow service time then I don’t want to give my money to this place. We ended up down the street at Pizza hut. I was in and out in 30 min. I only have so much time for lunch.

This is the only time I will ever come here. The experience: We were seated and ten minutes later, still no waitress. She came over as we were about to leave and we stayed because it was late and no other restaurants in the area were really open. The food came out pretty quickly. That is the only positive thing I can say about the food. We had Spasagna, the Chicken Pot Pie, and the Fried Catfish. Every item was bland. The catfish was greasy. The whole eating experience was subpar. The only reason I gave this two stars is because the waitress seemed pleasant. Will NOT be coming back.

Food was ok, nothing special, but for the price it was pretty good. Nice dinner out experience with a low price and good service.

Went here for daughter’s birthday treat, our friends already visited this place & told us the kids will like the big aquarium … And so we went we were a party of 5& was easily seated, the atmosphere was friendly, spacious and family friendly .But there’s a couple of things I wish they’ll work on. First, I wish they have some kind of bread to offer the customers while waiting just like the other family restaurants … Next is, we love a good Chili .and Cheddar’s Chili needs to be re-evaluated ??? It needs a cracker on the side, needs more tomato paste/sauce and more… hmmm flavor. Yes. That’s what it’s lacking and the fact that it was served luke warm added to the disappointment .The staff was friendly as well as the Manager. We signed up for their email membership thing to get a free quesso appetizer, but for some reason we never got the confirmation email, manager was polite & apologetic for the email delays ???

This place was really good! I was actually surprised how good it was, I was expecting sort of an Applebee’s experience, but I’d say they definitely stepped it up a couple notches from Applebee’s. The waiter even gave us free butter-honey rolls. They were amazing. I got the smokehouse burger, which was great, and a few friends of mine got ribs, which I tried and they were also great. The price didn’t break the bank either! If you’re looking for a place friday night, try Cheddar’s! But get there early, this place is popular and you will be waiting for a table, especially if you have a large party.

My boyfriend and I loved the food! However the last time he went he got FOODPOISONING from a chicken sandwich. He was in the hospital for hours then home from work for 3 days and wasn’t completely healed for a week.

Mediocre at best. Food is typical chain restaurant food. Service is just okay. They are good about staying on top of drink refills which is a plus. Our most recent visit they forgot our appetizer and the main entrees came out cold, like they had been sitting out for a while. They did remove the appetizer from our bill. Buffalo chicken wrap is a good choice. You get a large portion and it is pretty tasty. Overall, Cheddar’s is just average. Nothing horrible but nothing spectacular either.

The upside: for a restaurant that does not have a gluten-free menu, or for that matter any type of dietary restrictions menu, they did a decent job trying to accommodate my gluten and dairy intolerance. I was with a large party– almost everyone enjoyed their meal. Almost. The«meh» side: the 2 men’s steaks came out way before the 5 women’s entrees. 4 of the women got their food served at the same time, some 15 minutes after the men. The last meal served was mine and that came 10 to 15 minutes after the women’s. By the time my food was served, everyone’s else’s food entrees were cold. [Yes, despite urging everyone to eat, in the end we are people who wait to eat until everyone is served.] The downside: the food was served in such a staggered and haphazard way as to be(almost) comical. Except, it wasn’t. Truly not funny. The saving grace: being with family!

Food is great. I love the Mango-Tilapia. The last time we ate there, the service was terrible. We were more than half finished with our entrée when our salads finally arrived. My husband finished his tea before any food was served and he was never offered more. Tonight we had nice service but could not talk because the music was WAYTOO loud. We hope these are just«new business» blues and Cheddar’s will become one of our regular restaurants. One more mediocre dining experience and we won’t be back.

We were seated fairly fast, considering it was a Saturday evening. The experience went downhill from there. Four entrees and one appetizer were ordered. Waiter comes back in 15 minutes to check drinks(no appetizer in hand). Waiter comes back in 10 minutes and says he will check on our food. Manager shows up in 5 minutes and apologizes for the delays and offers free croissants(we had ordered extra as an appetizer with our entrees). Another 10 minutes pass and waiter shows up apologizing because he «forgot» to put our orders in the computer. He states orders have been placed and will be out ASAP. Another 20 – 30 minutes pass before our food arrives. Several mistakes were made with our entrees and our original order of croissants never arrived(we had already eaten enough to not care). The food ended up being fairly tasty and the prices were ok. The manager ended up comp’ing our two most expensive entrees and not charging for the croissants. We continue to hear the same experiences from this location. «Food is good but service is subpar» When will this location start reading and listening to the reviews. Lafayette is far to big/busy of a city to not have great service. People may just start choosing to eat at one of the other dozens and dozens of restaurants we have in this town of things at this location don’t change.

Service was a little slow. The server didn’t seem to really engage with us much. The food was fantastic though!

We took someone’s advice to come here, the food was tasty but the service wasn’t too good. The waitress forgot to bring my drink out and then it took about 40 minutes for us to get our food and on top of that I had to go looking for her to get my change back. Like I said foods good but service not so much!

Stopped here for lunch. Experienced great service. However, do not get the fish tacos. You only get two and a miniscule amount of fish in each. At most they are worth 99 cents a piece.

I’ve been here twice once in the evening and another time during the lunch Saturday time. Both times our servers were very lively and eager to be of service. The food was good on both occasions. I think that the buzz has generated a lot more people trying this place out. I like the interiors. My Dad had the mushroom cheese burger and that he liked a lot. They have lower calorie dishes like the lemon pepper fish and salad I had. The waitress we had was very attentive and gave us refills of our drinks to go. I think in time this place will settle like the other restaurants in town.

Okay, so I’ve tried this place twice now… once with my family for dinner, and once by myself for lunch. Both times I have had the misfortune of having the same server. Today she was serving as bartender(I was trying to get a quick lunch). She is uniquely unqualified as a bartender. She’s not attentive, not good interpersonally… and frankly doesn’t seem very enthusiatic or happy to serve. Then it’s on to the extraordinarily slow kitchen service. Trying to get a burger during a not particularly busy lunch service…20−25 minutes. When you look around the restaurant you see multiple small groups of employees standing around talking amongst themselves. There’s no hustle, no «we’re the new place in town, and we’re going to knock your socks off,» attitude. It’s almost as if whomever did the hiring was looking for flat affects, lack of hustle, and especially, do not smile and be outgoing and friendly. If you like slow and sullen give it a try, if not, find somewhere else to spend your money.

The décor is real cool, the bar area is the best in town. That’s where it stops! The food is low grade and subpar. The service was good but my entrée was outright nasty, chicken fried steak was of high school cafeteria quality, the very nice waitress sent me the manager and his smart remark was«guess we will have to take it off the menu». How about sorry sir for the food can I get you something else or take it off your check? Only after I mentioned about taking off my check did he agree. He stood there and stared at me waiting for me to say something. If he worked for me he would have been fired on the spot. If your going there, go to the bar and get a drink and an appetizer avoid the dining room and the gut wrenching food

Nice chain restaurant. They just opened a couple weeks ago, so other reviewers should ease up. I’ve had Cheddars in the past and they have great Chicken Fingers! Give the team a few more weeks and then try them again!

Went for lunch Friday at noon — amazingly crowded. Rather than wait 25 minutes, sat at bar. Bar staff very good. Very nicely decorated, including photographs of local scenes. Just about everything on menu has to be 1000 plus calories! Fries were good, Philly steak sandwich greasy, club sandwich tasty but buttered up and like grilled cheese. Definitely not heart healthy! Not our cup of tea…

Can you say growing pains? This new-to-Lafayette location opened up a week ago; it’s so new that it’s not even listed on the Cheddar’s website. My wife was telling me about this place a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to give it a try. Sitting on Lafayette’s ‘Restaurant Row’ on State Road 26, we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night. As we walked in, the place was pretty full, but we were told there was no wait in the dining room, or we could go into the bar and someone would follow us with menus. The hosts didn’t seem interested in seating us, so my wife and I walked into the bar and found a booth. And we noticed that no one followed us with menus. While sitting, several servers passed by, one with menus and looked right at us. My wife, who had waited tables for many years, was ready to grab menus and go back and get our drinks. After 10 minutes, our server comes by and apologizes about the wait, that she’s working at another restaurant in the morning, and Cheddar’s at night and HAD to go pee. Lucky us! My wife explained that she was upset at the lack of teamwork displayed by the hosts and servers and that someone should have been covering for her. We placed our orders: spinach dip for an appetizer, baked whitefish on rice and spring mix for my wife, and chicken pot pie and side salad for me. The salad came out pretty quickly. There was nothing too exciting about the salad, except it came with a hot croissant with melted honey butter. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Cheddar’s, and I don’t remember croissants. This thing was like crack, I could eat a dozen and not even blink. When our meals came out, I ordered three more of the things. The fish was seasoned and placed on a bed of rice, with the spring mix salad with a vinaigrette dressing on the same plate. My wife said the fish was a bit spicy for her, but most folks in this part of the country think mild is too hot. The pot pie came in a soup bowl. The crust was flaky, but was sticking to the rim. I love crust, and will peel it off the rim of the bowl. This crust was stuck to the rim, and my attempts at peeling it off only made it crumble. The pot pie was meaty, with peas and carrots in a tasty, creamy filling. My wife preferred this to Cracker Barrel’s chicken pot pie, but I prefer Cracker Barrel’s because they use larger chunks of vegetables. I hope this location is just suffering from opening growing pains. Normally when a new chain restaurant opens, there are managers and trainers everywhere, greeting customers and basically making a nuisance of themselves. Not here, we only saw one person who looked like management, and they walked quickly past us and spent a few minutes chatting at the host station. This Cheddar’s has a lot of potential, but Lafayette has a reputation of chain restaurants with sub-par service. I wish them luck as I like their burgers.
