I recommend their appetizer sampler. Very unique and yummy for a good price. There were some mistakes on our visit but the waitress promptly fixed them and provided great service. I surprised my husband there for our 3rd wedding anniversary so I was a little sad we got seated at the ONE table with no flowers at it. Lol.

Great service and a great location. Place was fine to bring our baby. She loved the food and the staff were very friendly. The bathroom is not equipped to change a little one.

Service here is crap. Took 30 mins to get our food. Had to ask for bread. Never was asked how we were doing. The staff needs to be trained. $ 70 for 3 people is a bit much for lunch time. They’re lucky we even tipped them with the kind of service we received. First and last time I will be coming here, take your money around the corner to warehouse pizza.

I normally don’t eat at Italian restaurants because I have a hard time justifying paying upwards of $ 12 for a pasta dish that I could’ve made at home for less than $ 5. However, my wife, who has been here before, was really craving Caffe Allegro’s minestrone while we were in the area. I ordered the Capellini alla Checca without chicken(which was an option), my wife ordered the minestrone and Insalata Mista, and The Baby(who is 10 but we still call her The Baby) ordered the Bruschetta. Everything arrived in a very short time and was pretty average. Service was fine. We did enjoy the rosemary foccacia that came in the bread basket. I’m only giving this place 2 stars because, as other Unilocalers have mentioned, their food is a little overpriced for what you get.

I want to give five stars, and they do apply to my first visit to Caffe Allegro Valentine’s Day. My husband and I were quickly seated upon arrival for our reservation. It was evening and the ambience was magical. White lights around the trees on the street and this cozy little restaurant that served delicious food and bread made on site with fresh olive oil. We were treated well, the bread basket was brought to the table, and our meal was served in a timely fashion. Today was another story. It is right next door to Serendipity Salon where I am a regular customer. I asked at the Salon about their lunch service and was told there is a 10 minute express menu. The food is served quickly and there are several tasty options. That fit my time perfectly — it was 1pm, I had a 2pm appt and it would take me 10 minutes to get there — no problem. I was so looking forward to a relaxing lunch in the middle of the day between appointments. I was greeted with a smile and asked about the 10 minute express menu. She asked if I minded sitting inside and I said okay. After being seated the waiter was to come to take my order. Ten minutes went by — no waiter! It was cool so I went back outside asking to be seated there. No problem. I sat at a table and a couple who came after me were placed at the table in front of me. The waitress was initially nice and took my order about 1:15 and brought me a passion fruit iced tea assuring me if I didn’t like it she would just bring their fresh brewed iced tea. After that things went downhill. I didn’t like the passion fruit iced tea, but my waitress was no where to be found. The couple in front of me was served the bread basket(they had a different waitress) and I had nothing. The minutes ticked by and my time was running out, but I was hungry! The leisurely lunch I envisioned was now impossible. I looked around for help and there was no one. Finally, the other waitress stopped by my table and I expressed I had not been given any bread. She brought the bread and eventually my main course. Only after did my waitress stop by with a cursory«Everything okay hon?»(my pet peeve to be called«hon»!) when I had my food and moved on quickly. She only smiled again when it was time to pick up the check — you know that mode — to get the tip! The meal was the lunch express, so a 20% tip was still small. The best thing I could do was share my negative experience on Unilocal. My meal was served around 1:33, after arriving at 1pm and I had to pack up half to make it to my next appointment. I just finished my lunch before writing this review. It would be nice if more effort was put into good customer service — it is not a low priced place to eat. The food is fresh and worth it, but service is just as important!

Cute place for a date night but the food is WAYTOO overpriced for what you receive. Service was on the slower end. Probably won’t be returning for a long time unless it’s for a drink at the bar.

Our favorite place to go especially on sundays! Amanda is our favorite and best server! Penne explosive and chicken a la vodka are the best!

Nice service, nice atmosphere but the food is pretty average and doesn’t justify the price. There are several better Italian restaurants within about 5 miles of here.

Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. The service was less than poor. My food was over done and cold after waiting an hour and 15 minutes. The server should have addressed it with us. The complete blame was put on the kitchen. The kitchen had nothing to do with not getting butter with our bread nor did they have anything to do with my husband having to get up to ask for the coffee refill I had waited 30 minutes to receive. To add insult to injury, the ‘manager’ returned my call tonight and was rude and blamed a language barrier with the chef. Give me a break, if he can read the orders that are in English, he can read ‘fast, I forgot to put the order in oops!‘ I have given it two stars instead of one because my daughter said her pasta dish was delicious. I would like to think that if they had better management it would be a nice place to dine.

The food here is great, hostess service could be improved though. Calamari — yum Caprese salad — delish Minestrone — tasty Spinach salad — mmm The bread they bring is also very good. The restaurant is quite small but they have a nice area for outside seating with heat lamps.

We came here on a Sunday evening. We were craving pizza and a good appetizer. We were seated quickly outside on their adorable patio. The restaurant is compact and cozy and you can see the wood fire oven! We ordered the pizza, calamari, bacon wrapped dates, grilled heirloom tomato salad, and pasta with shrimp/mushrooms. Every part of the meal was delicious! Our server was sweet, attentive and checked on us regularly. If you’re in the mood for delicious Italian– this is your spot!

We loved this place. The linguini tutti mare was flavorful; yet still light enough and the spinach fettuccini Marsala with chicken was delicious and a good portion. Prices are reasonable for what you get: Parisian atmosphere, gourmet kitchen, and top notch customer service. For two entrees and a glass of wine we paid $ 65 that’s including a decent tip. We will be back with family and friends.

La Verne, a hidden jewel nestled in the outskirts of eastern Los Angeles county that typically doesn’t make the opening«breaking news» story. Café Allegro is what you would expect to find in a sleepy town and La Verne is perfect. Café Allegro is cozy, romantic, candle lit, white table cloth linen and the ambience sets the mood. Dine inside or sidewalk with overhead awning is perfect either way you choose. They can accommodate large groups but it seems like it’s more for couples and parties of 4. Rosario is a repeat patron and she has shared some good laughs and good meals with her classmates during her doctoral program at U of La Verne No appetizer dish tonight Beverages: Pellegrino with lemon and one glass of house red Salad: Insalata Mista — A fine mix of greens, cherry tomatoes and baby lettuce with a very light house vinaigrette. Fresh parmassean is available upon request. Table basket of assorted sliced breads Dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese over a tomato sauce with ground sirloin, mushrooms and I myself picked up on a hint of sausage. Our serving definitely boasted that simmering taste made from scratch. This is considered a solo meal to which they gladly honored our request and served as two plates(shared meal) Side Dish: Sautéed Spinach served in olive oil and garlic with hint of lemon. Dessert: Single scoop of Gelato sea salt caramel and of course a café latte :) Parking is easily available on street or city designated public parking lot(free). I would definitely recommend if you happen to find yourself in the area. Perhaps after visiting the Pomona Fair Plex or just in passing via 210 fwy.

My man surprised me with a dinner date here last weekend. When I thought of La Verne, I used to think of boring, corporate chains along Foothill Blvd. This area near the university has really surprised me with how cool La Verne can be. Neighbored by places with character and originality like Pappas Artisanal, 3rd Street Wine, and Chase’s, this is my new favorite part of town. Caffe Allegro is charming and romantic without feeling too cheesy/manufactured. Although the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, the outside tables on the patio is where it’s at. Every single server/hostess we encountered was genuinely friendly. Family-style shared dishes are encouraged, and without fees, and there is a great wine list with reasonable prices… around $ 6/$ 7 per glass. It’s about as non-LA as it gets. The menu consists of small plates, pastas, salads, appetizers, and entrees… it was so hard to choose that we chose 3 items to share. Please forgive me for not remembering the proper Italian names… I couldn’t have tried to spell them even if I remembered. We were served house-made bread to start with, including some bomb olive bread. * Artichoke with fondue cheese, spinach and shrimp — When I saw this, I did a little dance in my chair. I couldn’t believe that one menu item included all of my favorite things in life. This is an ARTICHOKE filled with MELTEDCHEESE and SHRIMP. What’s not to love? it was served with toasted bread, generous amounts of shrimp, and it was original and perfect. My life is so much better now that I know that something like this exists, and I dream about this now. * Insalata Allegro — Salami, ham, mozzarella, olives, tomatoes, and a hard-boiled egg… what more do you need? It was slightly over-dressed, as most salads are, but it was delicious. * Angel hair with salmon, peas, mushrooms, and white wine cream sauce — This was incredible. The salmon steaks atop the pasta were more than enough for us to share, and the sauce was the perfect complement. One of the best pastas I’ve had. I loved everything about this restaurant! Good job on date night, Chad S!

The bottom line with this place: pretty good, but not great, Italian food. The place was kind of pricy, otherwise I’d probably give it 4 stars. I headed off to Caffe Allegro for dinner with some folks from my program right after we got settled in. I think we were all jonesing for a little Italian food and, I’ll admit, I was skeptical that there would be good Italian food out here. I sat down, had some bread(a good sign), and then ordered a chicken parm entrée. The entrée was pretty good! It wasn’t amazing. I didn’t explode and die from wonderment, but I wanted Italian food and I got it. It was close to what I can get back home in NYC and so I was satisfied. The chicken parm was crisp and not mushy and the sauce was pretty good although maybe a tad acidic. The pasta was almost as al dente as I’d like and the service was good. If you’re looking for some Italian out here, it’s a good bet. You probably won’t be amazed, but you’ll likely be satisfied.

I went here recently after not visiting for quite sometime and was very disappointed. When we arrived no one came to seat us and finally someone said, sit wherever you like. We waited 15 minutes and no one ever came with a menu. My son finally got up and got menus for us. After 45 minutes our server informed us that our order never printed and it would be a while longer. Once the food came the Chicken Piccatta was so lemony i could hardly eat it. I might go back just because i have always liked the food there, maybe it was a bad day for them.
