There are some weekends when I have a hankering for a large plate of pancakes and home fries. And it’s during those times, Marie’s is the place to go. I’m vegetarian, so there’s not a whole lot on the menu I can get, but the pancakes andhome fries hit the spot. The pancakes are obscenely large. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to finish them. The home fries are delicious, but it’s kind of hard to mess those up. They also have the best cakes I’ve had. The red velvet is to die for! The downside to Marie’s is that there is ALWAYS a long wait. You have to get there early, and it’s a tiny place. Worth the wait, though. In all, it’s my favorite breakfast place.

The best sandwich I ever had at Marie’s. I don’t eat corn beef or pastrami and I tried this sandwich called the New Yorker and its was the best

Buffalo chicken was real good. The chicken was huge and hanging off the bun. They offer a great portion and there is no way you’ll leave hungry. I love going here for breakfast but this was my first time trying lunch and it was worth it. Everyone in the area knows this place is great hence why it’s always packed and there is a line to get in.

Thank you Unilocal! I was taking the long way home and needed lunch. Wiped out the trusty Unilocal app and I wound up here. It was 11:30 and the line was out the door. This was the first sign this is a good place. It took about 20 minutes to get a table but well worth it. Good old fashioned county diner with a few craft food twists. It was cold and rainy so I got a cup of chili, for $ 2.00 it was worth twice that. Light kick of spice, not over whelmed by beans and not greasy, if you like chili you know what I am talking about. Next up was the grilled cheese, this aint your average grilled cheese. Two perfectly grilled slices of Texas toast with four different kinds of cheese. After reading the reviews I had to try the corn fritters, sweet, crisp and delish. So I am done with my lunch and my fabulous waitress Jennifer asks me if I wanted desert… sorry I was to stuffed but the desert counter looked sinfully good. Maybe next time. Great prices, superb service, diverse menu and I will go out of my way to come back again!

This diner is a gem in LaPlata, MD. Far better than the other diner in Waldorf. The waiters are very polite. The food and prices are so good that they are always busy and unless you are there in the earlier hours of the day, you will most definitely have to wait a bit to get seated. I stop in regularly for their mouth-watering breakfast sandwiches.

My first experience was mediocre but every time since has been amazing. Great food, friendly staff, quick service, and reasonable prices. I come back at least once a month! I recommend the southwest chicken omelet if you want something a bit different and ‘healthier’. Otherwise you can’t go wrong with the huge pancakes, perfect bacon, juicy sausage and always great eggs. Haven’t had much off the lunch menu but the sandwiches were good as well. Dessert seems to be from a local bakery although I’m not entirely sure… The cheesecake was very good.

Biscuits area great, along with everything else. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Try their steak and cheese sub! And don’t forget their desserts… I don’t.

Small diner with good comfort food. Service is always friendly, food is always fresh and down home comfort food. Not very nutritious but that shouldn’t be a surprise. There can be a wait most days but I’ve never waited more than 30 mins. It’s worth it.

The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the pancakes are bigger than the plate. In short, it’s awesome. Grandma is the BEST waitress: she’s as warm and welcoming as anyone’s own grandmother.

First time here and it was fantastic. I’ve eaten at other diners in the area and this one is by far the best. The wait is about 20 minutes but it’s totally worth it. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was«amazeballs». Chicken cooked perfectly with scrambled eggs and homefries with onions. If I had another stomach, I’d try the pancakes. This will be another must eat places for me.

I went this morning for the first time after a relative told me about it last year. This place has EXCELLENT food! There was a line outside if the door when I arrived and one when I left. It’s very reasonably priced as well. I will be going back for sure!

Had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes — always a good test for a diner you have not tried before. Very good and the price was right. Will stop here again. My wife had the country fried steak which was ok.

A nice stop for good fries and burgers! Good portions of everything and decently priced. Service is okay, yes we’re sometimes needy guests but always polite and tip well. Having worked prior customer service and never letting personal things get to me I appreciate and respect good service. Our server while really nice wasn’t as efficient. Forgot my side of jalapeños, we needed ketchup and weren’t given any, but aside from little details it was fine. Strictly based on the burgers and fries, worth it!

A great little diner stop on the way through town. It was busy, even on a Friday late morning. I had the chicken-fried-chicken breakfast(grits, eggs, biscuit) and it was outstanding. The chicken was fantastic with a crunchy skin and juicy inside; it made me wish I’d ordered the lunch plate! It was even good cold the next day. One star off for less than great service. I’d return, though!

I LOVE Marie’s. My sister lives in La Plata, so we eat here pretty regularly for people that actually live 45 minutes away. I’ve tried a LOT of their menu and liked everything, but my favorite dishes are the country fried chicken and the bacon cheese fries. Ohhhh they are so good. The quality and taste of the food can be compared to good old home-style cooking, and it’s even better because your food comes to you and you don’t have to clean the kitchen! We’ll keep on with our regular visits for as long as Marie’s exists.

Wow! What an amazing little diner. It’s a little beaten up and worn down, but the food is spectacular. We ordered the The Dave(shaved steak with an egg on top — I had pepper jack cheese and also added onions, peppers, and mushrooms on mine), 2 Bacon Blue Burgers(had a different name but we can’t remember it), and 1 pancake. The Dave was absolutely amazing. You can change up the toppings, but I ordered it the way any shaved steak should be eaten, with peppers and onions! The boys were less impressed with their burgers, but the pancake was amazing just to see. As Big as the plate and butter yellow. The only thing that would have made the pancake better is real maple syrup instead of the fake stuff on the table. The meals are extremely reasonably priced too! When you first walk in, there is a display case filled with amazing little desserts. We were staying with friends who were making dinner for us that night, so we ordered one of every little dessert on the top shelf of the display(there were 5) to split amongst the four of us so we could try them all. The little strawberry one was out of this world! Light but packed full of flavor and not too sweet. There was one that was a hazelnut something that was pretty delicious as well. The others were good, but not my favorites. Unfortunately no picture to go along with the desserts. We dove in forks first!

We drive by Marie’s almost every weekend on our way from Northern VA to the Northern Neck. I decided to read the reviews and as a result we stopped one Friday night for dinner! Great, down home, diner food. The place itself is certainly nothing fancy. Don’t let the physical appearance fool you — someone knows how to cook some real diner food in the back! Surprisingly we had to wait for a table. About 20 minutes or so. Once we were seated it was clear that the place was full of regulars. Wait staff being called by name as well as customers being greeted by wait staff by name. Although we knew no one and no one knew us we were still treated as if we were neighbors! Despite the healthy choices on the menu(not a lot) we opted for the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. Both were smothered in white gravy and we chose corn fitters, mac and cheese, green beans and fried okra as the sides. Side salads and rolls came with the entrees as well. The rolls were not really anything to speak of and needed butter badly — so I’d pass on those! The salads were fine — greens out of a bag — again nothing to really speak of. The entrees were delicious and the sides were very good. Corn fritters were so smooth and creamy! I had to keep myself from eating them all! So much food for so little money! We took half of our entrees home along with some of the corn fritters and fried okra and had a full lunch the next day! Delicious a day later! Another diner was having the crab soup and crab cakes. They looked awesome. We look forward to stopping again and trying some of the fresh seafood dishes next time!

I love diner food. Just to get that out front. We decided to stop here the Sunday morning after my friend’s bachelor party. Hit the spot. Portions are huge, be aware since every one of us had to take food home. They were very busy since it was Sunday about 11:45 when we got here. Had to wait about 15 — 20 minutes to be seated. Reasonable given the huge crowd waiting. Things moved along quickly. Our waitress appeared almost instantly, kept our glasses full, frequently checked on us, and was cheerful without being fake. Huge thumbs up. Food was out within 15 minutes of us ordering. This is diner food so it was a bit greasy(exactly why we wanted diner food!) and again, huge portions. We all had things from the breakfast menu so can’t comment on anything other than that. If you’re in the area try Marie’s instead of a chain. Go local!
