The Greene Turtle- La Plata

This place is always friendly and fast. The beer selection is decent for Maryland, the food is reasonably priced, and they let me have my 3-​legged pitbull on the patio!

Update to my review: I called the manager the day of this experience to apprise him of the situation. Dario was very apologetic, and offered a gift certificate for us to dine with them again and regain our trust. I agreed to this and received the check today. It was $ 25. This would not even cover the cost of a meal for my family of three and is just a slap in the face! We won’t be going back.
Feeling very let down by Greene Turtle. We used to love this place and the service was good, the food came it quickly and was good, and we enjoyed coming. The last two times however, we have felt very let down. Both times out son’s order (which we put in with our drinks so it would come out earlier, was forgotten) and when we had to leave early this past time our waitress acted quite annoyed. Considering our son’s order was forgotten, we had to ask about his order when the waitress was switched on us, the entire order was entirely too late and we had lost the window for good behavior from our son, this show of annoyance has put a bad taste in my mouth ! Given the recent trends downward in the restaurant, we will think twice before coming back!

The bar food is descent, however, the service is generally really bad especially during playoff games and when the tables get full. They are NEVER properly staffed!

What an amazing job Cruz and James did taking care of our volleyball team families! Our Volleyball Club Team celebrated the end of their season on April 30^th in the party room… we couldn’t have asked for a better Green Turtle team to share the evening with. James and Cruz walked in and owned the room! It was awesome! They were professional and very happy and gracious in the service provided. With these two servers taking care of 13 families/​40+ individuals, they rocked! And on top of their kind-​spirits, the food was great, too! Thanks, James and Cruz, and the entire Green Turtle Team!

Wow. Such non-​phenomenal service! Got ONE refill of water after having to wave a super not busy server. Food came separately. Others in the party finished their meals before we got ours and it was a four party table. Asked for the check and it took at least 30 min to get it back. Not a busy night and horrible service.
Mark has restored my faith in The Greene Turtle!!! Go Mark!!!

No stars… came in for a few drinks and snacks around 4:00. Waited several minutes for anyone to even greet us at the hostess stand. No one was there! My husband walked over to the bar to get someone. Finally someone came and we asked to sit outside where one other table of people was seated. Looked over menus and decided what we wanted. A server came out to the other table while we still waited for service. After about 10 minutes we got up and walked out the front door. No one noticed. It was certainly not a busy time but not even acknowledged that we left…

Super cool place. Chill bartender… great food and live music to boot! This is a Wednesday night. not sure if he’s a regular but. oh my! Great Artist! Nice joint for this traveler to partake in. I «heart» Greene Turtle!”

Horribly SLOW service. We went on a Sunday, there were maybe a handful of people there. We sat at the bar, it took at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged. The food was fine, but took FOREVER for it to arrive. We saw the food come out of the kitchen, however, the waitress went to EVERY table trying to find who the order belonged to, before I got up to point her in the right direction. Will not be back.

My daughter found a metal ring in her strawberry lemonade. Dangerous? I think so! Service was slow and unresponsive. Never coming back.
Update and a more detailed note of what happened:
Both of us spend the night sick from the food. My daughter and I were up all night and thankfully we have multiple bathrooms in our house. What angered me the most was the accusatory tone the manager took when he confronted us about the metal binding ring. If my daughter was not sitting on the other side of the table, I would have raised my voice and hurled some colorful insults.
So, in closing, we were insulted, received poor service, did I mention they screwed up my order?, and finally, we got some form of food poisoning. They did comp the drink my daughter ordered (you know, the one with the metal ring in it) and part of her meal (she never finished it because she was scared to eat another thing). We didn’t finished any of the other food but they didn’t seem to care.

We had a party of two waiting to be acknowledged by the hostess for at least 15 minutes, mind you there were several waitstaff that approached the front desk that looked at us but never said anything remotely like «someone will be right with you» or anything else acknowledging our presence. We felt totally invisible! Finally someone addressed us but informed us that it would be quite some time before we would be served because they had a large party. That amazed me because the restaurant side was half empty! We asked to speak with a manager and waited at least another 15 minutes with no one ever coming to speak with us. What a huge waste of time and effort to go all the way to La Plata to go to the Green Turtle and be disrespected!

Used the
service to get food from this Green Turtle location. This was my first time using the service. The person taking my order was great. at least I thought so at the time. Placed the order. Two items. Nothing complicated. so I thought. I ordered a Fleet Street Chicken dish and a Cowboy burger. The burger came with bbq sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese and onion straws. I added lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo with the bbq on the side. Food was expected to arrive between 8:15 and 8:20. food arrived at 8:36. Tipped the driver and brought the food in. When I opened the box with my burger… there was an old piece of lettuce, a tin tomato and bbq sauce on the side! Where is the burger I ordered? I called go. waiter and Christina was very helpful in trying to resolve the issue. I was given a credit for my burger but I was not happy with the overall service. I will probably never use this service again because of the Green Turtle. I will never visit to dine in. If you think so little of your customers you will not profit from me. I gave ome star because I had to.

Always leave here disappointed. The menu gives you high expectation for flavor but the flavor is hardly ever there. It’s mediocre at best.

We come here a lot for beer & wings. Kids love the chicken strip baskets too. Wait staff has always treated us well. Nothing but good things to say about this location.

Really bad service. It was as if I was never standing in front of the bar. Then she forgot my Guinness two times. If the Cowboys weren’t playing I would have walked out.

TGT has a variety of local beersto choose from. The menu has lots of variety when it comes to appetizers and it’s regular menu. Everyone in your family or group should find something they would enjoy to eat. I try something new each time I come here. A very nice atmosphere for all ages to enjoy. There is also outside dining if you would like.

I was skeptical about coming here after reading reviews, but the kids wanted to go. The food was good!
We asked for our wings well done and they got that perfect. I just wish the wings had more sauce. Easy fix.
I had the crab dip flatbread. That should be illegal. It was delicious… I don’t even want to know how many calories.
Hubby had a salad with shrimp. Good. I had a sip of his strawberry lemonade it was really good and served in a huge Mason jar with free refills!
Why not 5 stars? The service was kind of slow. The restaurant wasn’t crowded and it was Thursday, so no excuse there. Small things like bringing us wings for 4 people and only 2 plates — the kids ate on napkins. French fries but no ketchup. Drink cup empty for way too long.
If you sit outside, be sure to use bug spray! I got bit many times and finally went inside while hubby waited for the waitress to bring the check.

Please just take everyone’s advice and do not even attempt to eat here. Understand that is mainly a bar scene but I have been to others and they are way better.
The customer service is absolutely horrible here. It took almost 10 minutes for the hostess to come back up to the stand and she was STILL CHEWING as she approached. No one else even attempted to acknowledge our presence. Our server was completely in lala land and could not get it together.
The food was decent but then on the way home, two of us got «pull over right now» sick.

I restaurant was nice, the bar was full (even for a Sunday afternoon) but we went straight to the party room to celebrate a family affair. The waitress was very nice, but this is more about the food. The party platters ordered were good, but I wanted something more so that I didn’t have to cook when I got home. My son wanted a burger, I got the Mac & cheese with lump crab meat and bacon, and believe me when I say, it sounds better then it tastes. Neither my son or I are picky eaters, but we both would not choose the Green Turtle again.
Now, at a chain restaurant I’m not looking for impressive, but at least comfort food should be pretty decent. His burger wasn’t even a regular burger. They put Worcheshire sauce and tried to do it up to be fancy. Sometimes just do it and don’t try to make it fancy. This chain restaurant just «tried» too hard, and landed with a «fail»
