Got the wrong order. The guy just giggled typically I’m like whatever but an apology would’ve been nice. Food was terrible super greasy gave me a stomachache.

I came by tonight after taking my son around town on the dreaded errands run. He opted for chicken at BFF and I chose Chinese food. I got the two item combo for $ 5.99 and it was huge. The lady who runs this place filled the container to capacity with mandarin chicken, string bean chicken, and steamed rice. I also ordered a strawberry boba for an additional $ 2.75. She was very nice and offered to let me know when my drink was ready since my son was already sitting down. The food was pretty good, I enjoyed the string beans the most. The boba was not the best I’ve ever had, but certainly not the worst either. I think next time I would probably stick with one item, I had way more food than I was able to finish, and that doesn’t happen too often. Good service for sure though.

Three stars only because the lady behind the counter was super nice. Otherwise, it taste like every other fake Chinese food joint. It’s not bad, but not great either.

If you read my Restraunt reviews you’ll see I can be hard and if I like something or really dislike something I review it. Saying that my family and I have enjoyed this restraunt for years always enjoying our meals. The family who runs Chang Express are warm, helpful, patience, and accomidating. we’ ve never had a bad meal and when we want a quick chineese meal we head to the mall. I especially love the soup, egg rolls, and Chicken Fried Rice with Bean Spouts(they make it special for my wife and I).

I stopped by at 8pm on a Tuesday night. The. Chow men and orange chicken was dry. The other offerings did not look any better either. I ended up tossing the plate away after three bites. I just couldn’t eat it.

I tried this place on a total fluke. I went to the Grossmont Food Court to get some fish and chips and decided to do Chinese instead. I told the lady that I couldn’t decide between Shrimp Fried Rice and Phở. She said, «Soup is good», so I ordered the Chicken & Shrimp Phở and a side of regular fried rice. I can say without a doubt that their Phở is as good and any Phở restaurant. The broth is SO tasty! You can tell they use an authentic recipe. It was so good that I burned my tongue. :) The fried rice was just ok, but better with some soy sauce. Who would’ve thought you could get BOMB Phở at the food court? This will definitely be one of my go-to places for Phở. I plan to try the chow mein and the other delicious looking items they had.

Food was just okay. I got white rice, chow mein, orange chicken, and string bean chicken. The chow mein and string bean chicken were good except I got maybe 4 little pieces of chicken through all the green beans. I also ordered a mango boba drink(they were out of strawberry and lychee) which was very good and tasted like hi-chews. There are better food choices in that shopping center. I will probably only come back for the boba

I’m a soup lover, especially a nice steaming bowl of ethnic comfort, so a few years ago I’m shopping and fighting a sinus infection and headed toward the Mexican food place for a bowl of caldo when someone passed me with a tray laden with a bowl of Phở and the go-withs…whoa. can I ask where you got that? Chang’s Express? and that’s how I ended up getting phở at a Chinese place, in a food court at the mall. I’ve been going there for Phở ever since. The chicken Phở is actually my favorite. The white meat chicken is always moist. Actually it’s the only place in the city I will buy chicken phở. Any where else, it’s rare steak. The chicken egg rolls are killer, full of chicken and rice noodles. no cabbage filler! Crunchy, non greasy and cheap! My partner loves the Chef’s Special Fried Rice, it has medium sized shrimp and there is so much of it she has enough for 2 meals. Their entrees, the ones I’ve tried.broc. beef, mong. chicken, chicken and green beans are pretty good, it’s just that if I’m standing at their counter I’m ordering phở or egg rolls. Have to give a big 5 stars to their customer service, always polite, always smiling and always remember our ‘usual’ and it’s not like we’re there on a regular basis.

Meh. It is not bad and the décor is quite charming in that Chinese restaurant sort of way. We got takeout so I can’t speak to the service, but we were underwhelmed by our food choices,(fried rice, chow mein, egg roles). I don’t think that we will be heading back, even though there really isn’t anything better in terns of Chinese close by.

Yesterday, I was in this area and the children were starving and I decided that We would try this place instead of going to the tried and true fast food Chinese Panda express. This was a mistake. The chow mein noodles were not the typical egg noodles, they were wider and had no flavor at all. The orange chicken tasted primarily of the batter and skin. The guy that helped me basically grunted the entire time of service. I would have rather spent my money at Panda. This place should not be rated better than Panda. Perhaps I went on a bad day!

I used to eat here whenever I found myself at the mall around meal time but I haven’t had much luck with getting what I would call acceptable quality. Don’t get me wrong, the food here isn’t bad but my favorite Chinese food items either are not available or they are so over cooked and dried out that my jaw hurts from trying to break it down enough to swallow(orange chicken). They have Phở so that’s a plus. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here so maybe it’s different now but I doubt it. Still, given the other options at this mall, this place is probably still your best bet.

this friggin mall foodcourt cuisine is better than panda express & many sit down restaurants. their orange chicken some of the best i’ve had(tastier than panda express). mandarin chicken nice cuts of meat & great sauce. a 2 entrée deal plus a snapple is $ 7.11 nice family staff. you can choose noodles or rice, or half & half. good hot & sour soup/bad eggflower soup(tasted like butter & eggs in a bad way). first time here on recommendation from a bud; i’ll eat here like twice per month. good portions & outstanding prices

I agree with everybody’s reviews. I’ve been with Chang Express for years and I still like going back for the price and the amount of food you get. Great prices and good food! This is the place to go when visiting San Diego or just a time out with the family wanting to eat good Chinese food at a great price.

Since we were in the area, we stopped here for lunch. This place has phở. Its not the best phở I’ve had but what other food court has it? The egg rolls are delicious! They’re crispy and full of meat! Not like the disgusting ones over at Panda which has nothing more than cabbage and celery. Hubby got the orange chicken and broccoli beef. It was pretty good but then again who doesnt love orange chicken. My daughter loved the chow mein but she likes most noodles. Lunch for 3 for 15 bucks including thai teas, not too shabby at all. Next time we’re in the area, I would go back for the egg rolls and just walk around the mall gnawing on my egg rolls like a turkey leg or a churro at disneyland.

This place is as good as it gets for a mall food court! My friends and I stopped for lunch before catching the Dark Knight. One of my friends got Indian food from next door. He said it was«OK.» The other friend and I got our meal from Chang’s Express. She got the Mongolian shrimp — omigosh. I almost wished I got that! They made it-to-order so it was killer hot and steaming. My poor friend had to wait awhile to eat it. She didn’t seem too upset about it. I got the orange chicken, vegetables combo. I thought it was going to be the usual soggy mess(which I like anyways because of the sauce) but the chicken was crispy and the sauce was not too thick and congealed(you guys know what I mean!). It was yummy. It seems like besides the usual tray table items, they make a lot of items to order so if you’re not in a rush, I would get that — seems healthier.
