Bartender told us at 9:20 that they close at 9:30 and wouldn’t serve us. The door clearly said bar(not grocery store) hours were until 10:00. When we brought it up to them they said we were wrong…“last call at 9:30, whole store closes at 10:00″. At least be truthful and say you want to go home. Or fix your sign. Solid beer selection tainted by dishonesty. Boo.

I liked it. Not bad, but not great. I just wanted a casual place to have a beer and eat some food that wasn’t bar food while I was in town. Pretty cool little spot for it being in a grocery store. Much cooler than the pizza a beer bar at the Whole Foods where I live.

I like this place, they have a good draft beer selection and the food is good, some things are better than others, the pretzel bun hamburger is great, the all day breakfast burrito was awesome I don’t know why they took it off the menu, since then I don’t go that often anymore lol. There’s a good atmosphere and great food and drink specials everyday. The only thing I’m not very happy about this place is the service, I mean it’s not bad but, the staff seems to not enjoy their job, they’re never happy or friendly, you rarely see them smile.

Very good beer selection. Very good burger. Ambiance. … you be drinking in a grocery store. Kinda weird but I enjoyed it and not many open seats at the bar.

I really love this place. A great selection of delicious treats both on the menu and on the beer list, but having to sit for 20 minutes to get noticed when it’s not that busy really irks me to no end. It’s happened the last 2 times I’ve come here. The«waiter» saw me grab a menu on my way in, and 20 minutes later… still waiting.

Great food, excellent selection of local & imported craft beer, but the service is unbelievably slow; the waitstaff is slow & un-motivated. I would not necessarily come here for a drink or bite to eat, but it’s convenience inside Whole Foods makes it a must visit, but you have been warned: expect slow service.

The beer and food are ok but the redhead female bartender is HORRIBLE this girl has the worst attitude ever. I am here with two people(total strangers) and we are laughing at how rude she is. From now on I will only come when she is not working.

Came here last night with a co worker because I heard they had reasonable prices for being inside whole foods. Saw that they had $ 2 off draft beers and wine as well as $ 1PBR. I immediately asked for the PBR because why the hell not for a buck. They were out of it(this was also before 5 pm so not super late). I settled on a nice green flash soul style IPA. On Wednesdays they offer 2 tapas for $ 6. We ordered the chorizo croissant and the bacon wrapped dates. I kid you not ladies and gents they were both the size of my pinky finger– for $ 6??? Screw that. We then decided to get actual food and when we tried to order the pork sliders they said they were out of pork. Ok I’m sorry but isn’t this a freaking grocery store? I ordered the cheese and pretzels which was quite sub par. Then we got out of there after spending $ 30 and went over to eureka where we drank and ate the night away. I live right down the road and wanted to try a new beer/wine bar but I’ll stick with draft republic and eureka. The only reason for the 2 stars is they give you a good deal for wine and beer during happy hour. Good luck Unilocalers!

Great location, food and beer! The only downside was the very slow and rude service — I asked our server for her recommendations on beer and she basically blew me off by saying«I’m going to go to that table there since they’ve been waiting for a while» and didn’t come back. The bartender was very kind and helpful though, so she kinda made up for it. Their Thursday night $ 10 burger and beer is an awesome deal! Definitely recommend — I’ll be back for sure.

They have really good selections of craft beers on tap, including my favorite Grapefruit Sculpin. Food menu is the same, I got the wings this time, its like Mary’s Farm organic chicken. Kudos to restaurants using good ingredients. I see they have daily specials, an order of wings and a pint of beer is $ 10 on Mondays. Fri or Sat(I forgot) they have dollar oysters specials, and Sundays they have a brunch menu

Funky, unexpected spot. It’s a bar, in a(high end) grocery store! But overall, very cool, and good selection of beer, wine and food decently priced, at least for Whole Foods. Plus, they have happy hr(4 – 6; $ 2 off wine and drafts) and daily specials. AND, you can buy any drink(wine, beer, no corkage) in the store and/or food(salad bar, pizza, tacos, sushi, Asian, deli) and enjoy it in here, w/the ambiance, music and TVs. Our server, Justin, was over the top excellent, too. Will be back next time we’re here for a movie or in the area.

I’m kind of torn about this place. They do daily specials of which my favorite so far has been Thursday’s where you can get a burger with a side for salad or fries *and* a beer of any kind from their tap list for $ 10. It’s a decent amount of food. Their fries(and ketchup) is delicious and their beer list is impressive. Their burgers used to be good but for the last 2−3x have been kind of meh for my friends and me. Their(new?) chef must have a personal vendetta against letting the flavors to stay in the burgers because our burgers have been coming out flatter than a pancake and about as dry as a rice cake. We’ve taken to ordering them medium-rare to rare(as opposed to a medium for a decent burger) because I’m pretty sure he slams a brick on them before he sends them out to us. The tables and bar area are all open seating and there is definitely some heavy competition around dinner time when my friends and I come to partake of burger & beer night. The servers are super friendly but I feel so badly for them because they always seemed overworked. I’m pretty sure I’ve only ever seen one server and one or two busboys helping her out every single time I’ve come here. Atmosphere-wise, this place is a mix of UCSD students and haughty psuedo-La Jollans which makes for interesting and eclectic dining mates. All I can say is, it’s in the middle of a Whole Foods, no one should be expecting fine dining and VIP service here… I would say overall the quantity of food and beer for the price makes it worth it for me to come back on Thursdays and I still live and hope for the day when another chef who better understands how to handle a beef patty will take over their kitchens and do my burgers justice once more.

I come here a few times a week for the lunch specials and they are consistently worth the trip. Torrey Pints is conveniently located between ucsd and my house. The bartenders are friendly and eager to please. The food is mostly good, except maybe the oysters, but those are a scarce commodity round here. I haven’t tried the smokehouse trio yet(it wasn’t available last Saturday), but I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The beers are great here. I’ve been turned on to more than few great crafts. Prices aren’t bad either.

I only like this place because a) There’s beer. The tap list is pretty long and varied b) It’s located inside Whole Foods, where I can wander around and take my time deciding and changing my mind about what I want to eat(so many options, such a hard decision…) c) I can eat the food I bought elsewhere within Whole Foods here if I want d) There’s beer It’s a bit pricey, but considering the area you’re in and the fact that you’re camped out inside of a fancy grocery store, I’m not too surprised. I wouldn’t come here as my go-to bar or anything, but if you’re in the mood to eat some random and completely different things but also sip on a beer while you’re at it. this is definitely a convenient choice.

This place is convenient — that’s pretty much it’s biggest draw. +1 — for being conveniently next to UCSD campus +1 — for having a fairly good beer selection(and non-beer as well!) –1 — for being«whole paycheck» worthy… Overall — i’ll definitely be back. A little trick: buy bread and cheese from teh store, keep the receipt and enjoy a «picnic»!

Torrey Pints Bar & Restaurant, in the vicinity of but not to be confused with Torrey Pines Golf Course, is a bustling, tasty find tucked into Whole Foods Market. Think 32 craft beers, many from San Diego breweries, and a seasonal menu so why not have an adult beverage, a nosh before tackling a weekly food forage? No brainer in my mind. Wandered here with my newfound UCSD continuing education friends mostly to gather groceries for the next two days but found Torrey Pints was amenable to us bringing prepared foods from the store into the resto to enjoy with a beer or a glass of wine. Now, if I hadn’t been so tired, been paying attention, I would have ordered off their menu as the vittles delivered to other diners looked WAY better than my slice of pizza! Friday night was crazy busy; but staff, who could have used a few more of themselves, managed to keep guests well attended to. Bartender graciously offered my companion an alternative brew to taste when her first choice came up foam. Sold. No white wine by the glass. Opted for French over domestic rosé. In a group of vino lovers, a bottle would have made sense but with just little olé me, a glass was enough. Next time a burger or flatbread off the menu…

Excellent spot for healthy food. I highly recommend the heirloom caprese. On Tuesday they have awesome taco specials also. Tons of local craft beer on tap.

This place was very disappointing! For a place to be inside Whole Foods, you expect freshness in food… apparently, not at this location. The set up is very cool and inviting but that’s where it end. The server took a very long time to get our order and took a long time to bring out our drinks. The place was empty so there isn’t really an excuse to be slow. I ordered their salmon and tuna… oh my gawd, awful. I’ve never seen salmon drenched in so much seasoning and so poorly cut. One of my piece looked like it went through a fish shredder! The tuna… wasn’t tuna. It had turned into a «dead» color. Still, being Whole Foods. I ate it. I almost threw it up. The fish was funky and was not fresh at all! I doused it with wasabi and still, it didn’t cut through the poor quality of the meat. I’ve never been so disappointed. My partner ordered the turkey burger and said it was okay. He also got their jalapeño pretzel and said that was good. I’ve never been so disappointed in a supermarket that lives by a standard that is set above many markets.

BF and I are here almost every Thursday night for the $ 10 burger/beer deal. Such a great deal because you get a burger(usually $ 8 – 9) and a beer on top(usually $ 6 – 9) for just $ 10! Love their wide selection of craft beers, and the friendly wait staff who is always letting us try all the new beers on tap. My inner craft-beer-connoisseur-wannabe cries tears of joy every Thursday. We’ve also come on a non-Thursday and had the Mac and cheese and beef stew. I really really liked the Mac n cheese(really!), and I think the bf was quite fond of his stew(although I couldn’t really tell because he was too busy watching the basketball game). They’re nice enough to let grocery customers sit down, study, or eat food purchased from the grocery store.

Finally tried this restaurant within Whole Food La Jolla. What an awesome place. The have more than 20 beer handles on tap — many local Craft Breweries and the selection is respectable. You can order off their simple menu. Salads, wings, burgers, sandwiches. I had the wings which were good, and looking around other tables, the Burger looked like the winner(brioche bun piled high atop a thick burger and add-ons). I love that they let you buy food(i.e. Salad, or hot foods) at the Whole Food store and they allow you to sit in the restaurant to eat. It’s a low-key bar, a great craft-beer bar that is… with a variety of food options at decent prices. I look forward to coming back.
