Tonight was only my second time at Mida(it’s kinda out of the way for me), and I went because I’d heard they would be closing after tonight :( Walking in, I was warmly greeted by one of the friendly waitresses and invited to take a seat at the bar. I was surrounded by drunk, happy regulars – a good sign of a great restaurant! I told the sushi chef I just wanted one roll, but I wasn’t picky about what went in or on it: «omakase»(chef’s choice of ingredients). I don’t even know if the roll I ended up getting is on the menu, but holy crap it was good. Shrimp tempura and crab inside, salmon, avocado, and masago on top, drizzled with mayo and unagi sauce. It took a significant amount of effort to not just inhale the whole thing in a few minutes flat. I ordered a roll to go(another«omakase») for lunch tomorrow; I know it won’t be as good, but I’ll never get to eat Mida again so I know I’ll still enjoy it :’)

When it comes to sushi… I go all out. And if its not ayce i expect good quality food and quantity as well. I ordered my usual go to roll which is philadelphia with no cream cheese and salmon on top. It was amazing. I was very satisfied. Then i also ordered a garden salad. It was not worth the money. It was like 5.95 for like a serving of ½ the usual salad order. But it was very tasty. Then to top off my order, i ordered the 8 pc sushi combo with spicy tuna. The chef was very generous and cut big slices of sashimi. I was very impressed. The have two tvs playing any sports channel so you can watch whatever you want. And they offer buy one get second one 1 cent for beer and sakes over the weekend. Im glad i found this place after i moved close by. I shall be coming back here for that amazing philadelphia roll! Thanks chef!

Closed from two to five… maybe that should be listed on Unilocal so people like me don’t have to get pissed off for making a drive down there to find out

Great and friendly staff. They had a special happy hour promotion Mon-Wed where all their rolls were 50% off. They didn’t go cheap on ingredients either, same rolls just half the price. Hopefully they can stay open as it seems to be rather slow from time to time. If you’re in the area and craving sushi then visit this place. They care about their customers!

So good. Fast, reasonable, And fairly quiet so I was able to get some work done during lunch. And that crunch roll was awesome.

Knocked off one star for the extreme quietness of the place, it was really empty on a Friday during lunch hour and for the slow service of having one sushi chef on duty. I wish they would put on some good vibe music of something other than all the awkward silence where whatever you whisper to whoever you came with can be clearly heard by the chef and the hostess woman lol. Aside from those minor issues, the hostess was a polite and sweet little old asian woman. The chef was very quiet but had a friendly attitude. Everything we asked for they got us. The sushi took about 15 minutes to start being made into rolls and usually I would have no problem with it because it’s probably better to take the time to make the delicious sushi then just throw it together but taking into account some of us customers are on a lunch break and that leaves us very little time to actually get to eating. We had an hour for lunch but time ticks quickly from driving a couple minutes there to being seated then to order — you catch the drift. The sushi was really good though, like almost as good as all my favorite sushi spots I use to love in San Diego. I haven’t found a place in this area like that. Every rolls was delicious and my co worker really enjoyed them as well. I had the baked lobster and the Alaska roll with baked salmon. We also ordered the calamari and dragon roll that had eel but I don’t eat those so I didn’t personally try them. My co worker really liked them though. The lobster roll was probably the best I’ve had anywhere due to the fresh pieces of lobster on the entire dish, very generous with the lobster pieces. The Flavors were amazing I wish I could’ve ordered a Sapporo to complement but being on a work lunch hour I didn’t do it lol. This place could easily be five stars but I think they get discouraged due to the location of it, I don’t think anyone sees it since its in a huge strip mall with larger stores and places near it. It’s a hidden gem though and if they could get more customers or maybe speed up service a pinch they’d be golden. Also need some background noise please! Some music maybe? Good vibes go well with good food just saying! I would definitely return maybe try a weekend for dinner to see if there are more people dining here.

My favorite sushi spot! Ernie and his mom are very sweet and friendly. I love the Angels roll! They have specials throughout the week. Monday — Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm, rolls are 50% off! And on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the beers are buy one get second for a penny. Great service here

The best sushi restaurant in town. Great service. Portions are large and the fish is very fresh! They have happy hour on the weekends! Buy 1 get sec alcohol for a penny. My secret place I want to recommend to everyone.

Came here for lunch, it was my first time I thought the food was really good and the service was also very good. I’m not from around here just passing through and I would recommend this place. Volcano roll, fire

Average sushi. Okay but not great. However the portions were good and the the fish was fresh for the quality they were serving. Not sure if I would go back but good enough for the day.

It’s been my mission for the past two years, living in La Mirada, to find a decent sushi place I can call my own. Alas, the search will continue but Mida Sushi really did put up an valiant effort. The waitress was so nice, giving us the extra ginger and forks(my white friend!) we requested. I wish the rolls were better! They looked so tempting, but alas, were more of a disappointment. We had the Caterpillar roll, the Ninja roll and the Viking roll. The Viking was our favorite, and quite difficult to share between three people haha. We all wanted our own! Overall, this is just a mediocre place to find sushi, but you won’t die and you will be full.

The place we wanted to go to was extremely packed, so we saw this when we were leaving and decided we would give it a try since we were hungry. Everyone there seemed really nice and attentive. The place was clean, but also empty. When we sat down we were notified that the prices have went up 2 dollars on all rolls. Ordered a beer and was told that had also been increased. 8 bucks for a large beer? WTF… The food was okay, nothing to brag about, and the only thing to be upset about was the price. Your paying top dollar for okay sushi. It’s your local sushi spot that seemed only a few locals go to. Maybe if the prices weren’t so high it would I would rate it higher, but for the price your paying your better off trying somewhere else.

Not sure how this place gets 4.5 stars? I’m baffled. The sushi is just ok, it’s not premium sushi but you pay premium prices. The lady(possible owner) and sushi chefs are very nice but I’m just not seeing the rave reviews. I came here on a Friday night at 5pm and it was empty. She told us from the beginning that the prices on the menu are not current and most items have gone up a dollar or two. But we didn’t know which items and exactly how much since the menu had the old prices. Anyway, I ordered the 8 piece sushi and spicy tuna roll. I asked for less rice in there but still got a good look at it. I was hoping the 8 pieces were the same fish as shown in the picture on the menu, and I should’ve asked when I ordered, but it wasn’t. It was your typical 8 pieces of fish– 2each of salmon, shrimp, tuna and albacore. The picture showed 8 pieces of a better variety including octopus. I always can tell if a sushi restaurant serves fresh fish when I have their octopus. However I did not try it here. Oh well. I got two additional rolls as well which were decent tasting but nothing to go crazy over. The 8pc sushi dinner was @$ 15 – 16 and each roll was around $ 12. Would I come here again? There are better places nearby so probably not, especially with their price increase. Sorry to say because the owner/sushi chefs were very friendly. Hopefully they survive with their current customers! I believe they are closed on Sundays and the hours in between lunch and dinner like your typical Japanese owned restaurants– Although this is Korean owned. Go figure.

I love this place. This will seem odd, but I have issue with rice and Ernie will accommodate this issue. He will either come up with innovative meals or form rolls with a bit amount. He has also made suggestion that I call one day ahead, so that he can prepare brown rice. Now that is service! Lorena is awesome. Sassy and friendly. Eating at Mida is lime eating with family.

I REALLY liked the sushi at Mida Sushi. I’ve only been once but I have to say it was probably the freshest of any sushi I’ve had(so far) in the general Whittier area. The place is small, so if it gets busy you might have to wait. There is a lot of parking in the lot, so that was nice. The service was friendly and the food came in a reasonable amount of time. My only *ding* if you could call it that is there wasnt much on the menus besides sushi. There were some udon noodle dishes but that’s about it. My wife loves sushi and can eat it everyday, but sometimes I’m looking for something else. That being said, if you love sushi, you should love Mida Sushi

The food was great, but I have had better sushi elsewhere. Came in on a Wednesday and there was only one sushi chef, so it took forever to get our food! That was the only downside. The place looks great on the inside, you would not think so judging by the outside, but hey, its in an old shopping center.

Disclosure: My friend Hanna introduced me to Mida. And over time I’ve gotten to know Ernie… I love the rolls! They are huge and tasty… buy some soju and get the chef drunk! I like Mida, cuz its close, good and priced fairly. On top of that Ernie a good guy. Tell him Jason sent ya and he’ll charge you double hahaha. j/k(i think).

I came here on a quiet Thursday night and ordered a Spicy Albacore hand roll, and tempura udon. The hand roll came out first. It was masterfully crafted and tasted delicious and consistent throughout. It was the perfect appetizer for my noodles Then, the udon came out and as soon as I tasted it, it reminded me of home. It was made with care, and was absolutely delicious. The tempura was particularly tasty, and it really satisfied. I also ordered a bottle of Hakutsuru Junmai Gunjo. It comes in a blue tinted bottle. Very tasty sake, with just a hint of flowers. Goes great with sprite as chaser. The service here was impeccable. The sushi chefs are very friendly and really take care in what they do. The waitress/server is very friendly, and cute. She checks up on you often to ensure you have enough food and drink. I’ve read reviews on here about«tasteless» sushi and bad service and it just isnt true. Don’t let a few bogus reviews keep you away from here, they are the best! And their prices are very fair. I will be back very soon!

I love their volcano roll… I never had sushi that good before. i also love their ginger so much i stop by just to pick a serving or 2. Amazing, I don’t eat out much but when I do I go to Mida Suchi!
