I’d really love to give this place a better rating but unfortunately the server I had didn’t allow for a great experience. All the workers were so friendly and asked if we were enjoying our food besides for the waiter that seated us(the tall bald guy). There was a piece of hair in my plate and when I pointed it out he seemed rather annoyed to bring me another plate. Other than this pesky service, this restaurant had a romantic atmosphere and the food was fine too; I truly can’t say it was amazing food but then again I figured that I may have not gotten the best choice from the menu. The location is a perfect spot too as its right next to the theaters so it’s a fantastic place to eat at right after a movie date.

Very disappointing. Flavorless Rigatoni Norma despite my addition of salt and extra cheese. Bread was hard and on the dry side. Caprese salad was uninspired and tomatoes and grilled peppers were flavorless. The only reason they got two stars instead of one is because the panna cotta was good but I don’t think it would have been possible to serve a smaller portion. In addition I think their prices are way too high for what you receive. You would do much better at Cucina Divina.

Best panna cotta, hands down. Right size, texture, and taste for dessert. We’ve tried all different dishes and it never disappoints. Pizza always comes out so delicious, and the pasta’s are always go fulfilling. Chef and Staff are so friendly, and it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The busboy greeted us and was accommodating and smiled, but it took a while for the waiter to crack a smile … I, too, take food seriously :-). But once he talked while we ordered you could sense his passion for food. We decided to start with the Mushroom soup du jour. Honestly, it could have been served hotter, took a lot of pepper to give it some flavor and overall Mr. Picky said it was far from the best he’d ever had, and I definitely agree. Bland. Mr. P had the lasagna and I don’t think either of us was super impressed with it. But the waiter suggested I try a special and I admit it was really great. It was comprised of freshly-made spinach linguini, zucchini, sausage and tomato. So simple, yet light and flavorful. The sausage gets removed from the casing, sautéed with wine and garlic, then baked, and finally has the fat removed and gets pan-crisped. Worth the effort. For dessert we tried the Ricotta Cheesecake which was dense and lovely, and then the Panna Cotta which was light and very close to perfect(one of the best I’ve had). Overall, some contrasts to elements of the dining experience. Mr. Picky thinks it’s «3» stars, but my entreé was far better than his and I’m giving it «4».

Second time here tonight. First, I love the complimentary bruschetta. We ordered pasta with clams, sole fish with capers, a pepperoni pizza, and spumoni ice cream for dessert. The food is generally good though maybe not the absolutely the best that I’ve tasted. The clams tasted fresh and seasoned well with the al dente pasta. The sole was nicely cooked with decent seasonings. The pizza was a bit greasy and salty. The spumoni was nicely presented with an outer chocolate shell spliced in four parts. Overall, everyone generally enjoyed their food. There’s a nice ambiance and welcoming quality about this place. Will come back and try some of the other recommended dishes on my next visit!

The BEST tiramisu!!! Our server Michele was fantastic, he had delightful recommendations for our picky gourmet 12 year old son. The pasta was perfectly al dente, wine was very easy and reasonably priced. Service was brisk and easy and all the recommendations were perfect! Thank you Michele! We will be back! Cheers!

This place is simply hit and miss. I’ve had some tasty meals such as their pizza margherita and ossobuco. The other night, however, I had their farfalle pasta with sausage and artichokes in a red sauce. What a disappointment! I’ve had better sauce from a bottle, and the pasta was overcooked. Friends of ours had the lasagna which was also less than stellar. The owners are pleasant, so I gave them 3 stars for service and ambiance.

Before our movie we stopped by this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. It was lunch time on a Tuesday and it wasn’t busy. We were seated quickly and our server brought our drinks promptly also. My husband and I split the chicken florentine and had no problems when we asked if they could substitute pasta with marina sauce instead of the vegetables it came with. The bread came and it was delicious! It was warm, had a nice crunch outer layer but fluffy inside. Without even asking, they had split the meal for us on two different plates! They saved me from probably dropping the chicken and pasta everywhere if I tried to do it myself! The dish itself was seasoned so well according to my liking. Didn’t need salt, the sauce wasn’t just a boring tomato sauce, and the chicken was moist, tender and paired well with the white wine sauce. I’m more of a beef person and don’t really like white wine sauce much but the chicken was delicious and the sauce wasn’t overwhelming that I really enjoyed it. Got the panna cotta to end our email and that was heavenly! Kind thought it was weird that they put all the sauce and strawberries underneath the panna cotta but oh well it was still delicious.

This is the best Italian place around hands down! Although might be small inside the food portions are quite large and absolutely amazing! Don’t let the outside steer you wrong, the owners are very traditional and really know what they are doing. I would recommend giving this place a try if ur into real Italian food.

For years I thought this place was somehow related to the burger place next door but when we were looking for dinner spot before a movie last week I realized they were separate and I AMSOHAPPY! This reminds me of the neighborhood restaurants I fell in love with in Italy –that is to say this is a very authentic restaurant. The owner is friendly and attentive and the food is amazing! The staff was very accommodating even though we were there at nearly closing time. This is definitely going to be our go-to date night restaurant in that despite its location, it is very private and secluded inside.

My family has been wanting to try this place for awhile. We went for dinner and were very impressed with the food AND service. From the minute we arrived, the staff made took excellent care of us. We told them that our 3 kids were starving and they made sure they had their food quickly. We started with amazing mozzarella sticks that were to die for! Our kids polished off their delicious pizza, while my wife and I really enjoyed the salmon and lasagna. We ended the night with incredible desserts(tiramisu and some type of vanilla custard with strawberries). Even though we were stuffed, we polished off the yummy desserts. The service was fantastic. The staff was very attentive, coming by throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed(enough napkins, drinks, etc). We were very happy with the overall experience and will for sure be back!

I will give this place 5 stars for it being genuine. Came here after showing up early for our showtine of deadpool at 10:30pm on 2÷19÷16. I ordered 2 bottles house wine, appetizer, and 2 entrées, total of around $ 110(not including tip). The food was nice and tasty, I had the mozzarella and mushroom rissoto, and my partner had the lasagna, both worth trying. A place will continue to do well as long as the owner has his heart in it still. And this owner goes by the name of Salvatore, came over to check up on us and to conversate a couple times. Really cool guy, asked about dessert and mentioned his wife’s homemade vanilla bean flan over Strawberry’s. It was so good! I don’t normally do dessert but this one was nice and fluffy. Best of luck to Salvatore and his staff. Ps. One thing I noticed when trying to find Café Sole on Google Maps is that its not listed on there, I seen the burger place on there that’s right next door but not here. Might want to take care of that and put your business on there. Thank you once again.

The owner/chef, Salvatore, is as authentically Italian as one can get, and the food is always delicious! He has various specials every night, which I would highly recommend. We have had them several times, and have always been great. Their pizzas are also wonderful, and I am not a pizza fan. As an extra added bonus, the desserts are quite literally home made as Salvatore, his wife, daughter, and mother-in-law make them. Note to chocolate lovers: his flourless chocolate cake is phenomenal!!!

If we just look at one side of the coin it would be a great experience, but we need to consider some aspects. I was amazed with the food and so with the ambiance. However, i was really disappointed with their bathroom; there were tissue papers trapped on the bowl, so hard to flash. Tsk tsk!

My husband and I have eaten here a dozen times. Often our go to place for special nights– Christmas Eve, New Years Eve(early dinner) or celebrating a birthday or anniversary. The owner is welcoming and genuine and the food is fantastic. We often go with the specials for the night but almost always get a margarita pizza. Great wine, great food and amazing deserts.

Favorite Italian restaurant ever. Service is great, food is great and wonderful desserts. Most authentic Italian food I have found. I love sitting on the patio during dinner. It’s so warm and inviting. The bread is fresh and the prosciutto has a wonderful flavor. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had lunch on the recommendation of others, what were they smoking? The calamiri was obviously frozen, like chewing tiny rubber bands. And the turkey Penni, tasteless. The turkey was not even deli quality, let alone fresh. Sorry but we had to put this place on., «we won’t be back» list.

My husband and I dined here on a weekday. We walked in and were seated promptly. It was a narrow restaurant and we had a view of the kitchen. The bread and bruschetta were brought out for us while we looked over the menu. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer. It was really good(if you like tentacles!). I ordered the veal piccata and my husband ordered a pasta dish with clams. Our food came quickly. I really liked my veal piccata, the sauce was delicious. My husband thought his dish was ok, nothing to rave about. When we were finished, the server brought a tiramisu for us to share since it was my birthday. It was excellent, tasted authentic like tiramisu should(not the chocolaty kind that a lot of places have). Overall, we had a very nice dining experience here, and will make this our go-to Italian restaurant.

Walked in on a weeknight as a party of 4 — got seated right away. Service was great — waiter was very Italian and very friendly. Free bruschetta with fresh baked bread was delicious — tempted to keep eating but knew the meal would have more carbs. We shared 2 spinach salads, and each ordered our own entrée. I was debating between a few choices, and the waiter said he would«surprise me» with a dish. I ended up getting the Penne Guillian(spelling?) with small pieces of sausage in a pink sauce. Was pretty good and I could only eat about half of it. Other people got the gnocchi, chicken marsala, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We were too stuffed for dessert, but may next time we’ll save our appetites for dessert since so many Unilocalers say how amazing it is. Located right next to the movie theater, across the street from Verdugo Hills Hospital, with plenty of lot parking. Cute old school Italian feel with a slightly open kitchen. Outdoor patio seating with heat lamps and spacious indoor seating.

The Service: A very cozy feeling when I walk in the restaurant. 1 server and 1 busboy taking care inside and outside patio area. The service is attentive. Both of them are very professional and friendly. Good customer service. The Food: They prepare fresh bread everyday. The bread is warm, crunchy outside and soft inside. Dip it in the olive oil & balsamic vinaigrette… yummy! Chopped Salad — Big portion, fresh ingredient, not over dressing. Romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, mushroom, avocado, zucchini, walnuts, shredded mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette Tacchino Arrosto — Roasted turkey breast with brie and cranberry sauce. You can choose either salad or fries for the side. Turkey & cranberry, totally feel like Thanksgiving!!! Savory and sweet… perfect combination. Fresh bread with melted brie, love it! The Parking: Private Lot(FREE), sharing parking with Starbucks and two more restaurants.
