Solid. Got the basil noodles at spice level 4 and felt like I was eating actual Thai food. Price is fine. Ambience is good for a mostly takeout/delivery place.

I’ve eaten here quite often, usually takeout. I think I’ve actually dined in maybe once. It’s convenient and the food’s pretty good. Nothing real special I guess, just typical Chinese food but the quality is usually consistent. I love their Tom Yum soup and sometimes I will just get some to go. I don’t think I’ve ever had any issues with my order being wrong but they are pretty nice so I’m sure if it happened they would make it right. You can order online which is easy. Would definitely recommend!

The BEST sweet and sour chicken in town! Very large portions, almost double everywhere else we’ve tried. And, their sweet and sour sauce is so much better! My husband has also tried their chicken chow mein, chicken lo mein, beef lo mein, about one quarter of the menu actually… and loves them all! We order carry-out and delivery frequently. Would definitely recommend!

I’m not really sure what out-of-towners are expecting from a southern«Chinese» restaurant, but I got what I came for. Good selection for really being just an Americanized style place. Always happy to walk into a vegetarian friendly place and not feel empty when I leave. I’m going to come back from time to time and hopefully all my trips are this pleasant.

We really enjoyed all the wrong orders that were delivered to our house an hour and a half after we ordered!!! I really want to give this place more stars because the food WAS pretty good. However, everything else was pretty bad. There was too much of a language barrier for us to be successful ordering… The lady taking our order got pretty much every single one of our orders incorrect and had the delivery driver riding around ALL of Knoxville to get us our food. They have yet to correct the charge on our card, but we’ll see how that goes. THATBEINGSAID, The mixed vegetables I didn’t order were perfectly cooked and the sauce was tasty — the chicken we didn’t order was close enough to what we wanted and good but just a tiny bit overdone. The cream cheese rangoon we DID order was the perfectly fried. It could have MAYBE used a little more cream cheese, but I probably didn’t need that anyway! All in all, I’m up for trying this place again. Next time I’ll probably go in and get the stuff myself though!

Get the soups, and soups only, and get them to go, even if you’re not close to home. That is a 5 star experience here. The soups are the best in town somehow! Made the mistake of dining in once and the couple with 4 screaming children in the next table over just made the already tiny dining room that much more miserable. It has fluorescent lighting in the dining area like a school cafeteria, so zero ambiance. Our main dishes were standard for Knoxville, which means either vaguely or strongly disappointing. But the soups! Those are worth a drive there and then eating them in your car.

Excellent. Ive been there 5 or 6 times. Ordered both the usual and the unusual and never let down. Much better than Ming Tree or China Pearl but smaller and more personal. Chicken and beef is higher quality than more expensive counterparts.

Worth a try. I LOVE American Chinese and often tire of over priced Asian Fusion. Every order is prepared so it may take 15 minutes to be served. The ambiance is plain but I find the food very good. And the prices are terrific for the freshness and quality.

Not very good quality. Typical, cheap Chinese food. If your wanting real quality Asian food, I would pick somewhere else. I stopped ordering from here after I got sick from eating their chicken.

I order lunch delivery. Delivery took about 45minutes but my food was piping hot! I got veggie lo mein, orange chicken, and spring rolls. All yummy. However, the«orange» chicken wasn’t orangy. If you know what I mean by that. It tasted exactly like General tso with orange slices added. I’d stick with the General or Sesame chicken. All around good Chinese take-out. But don’t get me wrong it’s not PF Changs. lol but I will defiantly be ordering delivery again.

Food is good. We have ordered from here many times and went to order from here tonight. Well, low and behold they have raised their prices 10−20%!!! My normal Chinese meal went from roughly $ 35 to now over $ 44!!! I can get takeout from a real Chinese place for these prices! Sorry, they are pricing themselves out of the market.

Got sesame chicken with fried rice and egg roll. We also got lo mein and general tso’s chicken, with the same, and we were all a little nonplussed. The meal was mediocre at best. They had it ready quickly, which was great. But when we opened up our meal, the chicken was fried poorly, so that it was crunchy in a somewhat unpleasant way, and the sauce was decent, but nothing special. The fried rice was bland. It didn’t have vegetables in it, which might be forgiven if it was flavorful, but it was not. More butter or oil or soy sauce or SOMETHING was wanted, and not found. Still looking for a decent takeout in Knoxville. The search continues.

Do not order from this joint. I don’t know under what miraculous circumstances other reviewers have had a positive experience but i can tell you they are wrong. The food is only slightly better than a mall chinese fast food joint and if you order delivery THEYWILL screw up your order. And if you call to complain and try to get it corrected, you’re treated like a criminal or a liar. You have to argue until you’re blue in the face. We’ve ordered from this crappy little hole in the wall 6 times and out of those times our order was screwed up 3 times which required another 45 minute wait. They hire half brain dead, rude 16 year olds to man the phones presumably because the owners can’t speak or understand english as i’ve tried to communicate with them in the past regarding problems with our order. In particular the lady who probably owns the joint likes to yell at you and tell you how you’re wrong and the order is correct… Needless to say this will be our last time ordering from this shanty. I’m guessing that most of the positive reviews have come from people who have no idea what real Chinese food looks and tastes like or are paid shills. And to the naysayers who are asking…“why did you order from this place 6 times if it was so bad?“ 1. It’s one of the only«chinese» places left in knoxville that delivers 2. The screwups didn’t happen all in a row. As a former chef and restaurateur, I know that accidents happen. Staff is short, mistakes happen in the back of the house. Things happen. But these people are rude, ill staffed and quite frankly a waste of money.

So I’m updating my review not to change anything, but to make a pretty simple observation. The owners, as far as I understand, are Malay. So why would you order Americanized Chinese food when you have the option for Thai(which is closer to what they cook)? Yes, it’s going to be more Malay style Thai but it’s still tasty. As far as phở? Why would you go somewhere that advertises as Chinese-Thai and get a VIETNAMESE dish? Do I go to Burger King and order pizza and expect it to be good? And if you don’t like that they choose a different sauce for their item than what you believe is the only sauce allowed… Get off your high horse and realize that it is food, and if you don’t like it, then you don’t have to eat it; it doesn’t automatically make the cook wrong Anytime my order has ever been wrong, it’s been corrected, and I’ve been treated exceptionally well afterwards. This is mostly a takeout place, but I’ll relax there and get all the food I can stand and then leave with the leftovers and a wonderful Thai iced tea to cool it all down. Still love my drunken noodles, my soup(Thai style hot and sour), potstickers(which as others have said, are truly amazing), and egg rolls. Always love the people, and I’ll always be back.

I am an avid lover of chinese food, and the fact they deliver makes them more attainable than anyone else in the area. I have three small kids, and pizza gets old after awhile, so I have been ordering from Zhu Garden for the past 3 years+. Oddly, I have NEVER eaten in their restaurant, nor have I ever even thought of doing so, so I have very little input on the cleanliness or atmosphere, however I am a consistent«to-go» orderer, so I am quite familiar with their process. The online ordering tool is a HUGE life saver, because I cannot say how many times communication was lost and orders were incorrect over misunderstandings… My only complaint is how long they take to deliver– Most of the time I have to call after an hour and«check on things» to see how they are moving along, and I always get the same response«they are on their way». Well, I live about 5 miles from the place, so I can pretty much bet it’s after I call that they get in their car and leave, however I have never once had a complaint about the food so if it means they are taking«longer» to prepare than I would like, so be it. It’s worth it in the end!

This is the kind of place where what you order will either make or break your experience. I’ve had some dishes that were very good and others that were awful. The teriyaki chicken was flavorless, dry, and unchewable. Tried the egg foo young on one occasion and it was a similarly bad experience. But the pan fried dumplings had great texture, delicious filling, and a sweet soy sauce for dipping. The hot and sour soup is good. The tangerine beef is my go-to dish. The service has been fine. Not standout but not horrible in my experience. Delivery can be a little slow but I’ve never had a problem with my order being incorrect or cold.

I have lived in Knoxville for 12 years, worked in a Thai restaurant for 8, and this is by far the most disgusting Thai I have ever had in my life. I got basil roll and the lettuce was MOLDY. Not to mention, Basil rolls usually come with a ginger peanut sauce, they serve it with spring roll sauce. The owners are most certainly not Thai and know nothing about Thai cuisine. The shrimp in my entrée were small and there were very few. For the price this place is totally not worth it, and of you like Thai food stay as far away from their Thai menu as you possibly can.

Definitely our go-to place when looking for Chinese food in Knoxville. We travel about 20 – 30 minutes(one way) in order to get food from here because it’s the best in the area. And even though we always get it to go, the food is still delicious when we are chowing down at home. We like to change it up every so often but we always order the chicken lo mein and the egg rolls. Staff is friendly. Food is yummy. Service is fast.

Zhu is our favorite place for Chinese food in Knoxville. We travel 45 miles(one-way) to eat here about once a week. The place is super busy, mostly with take-out/delivery orders. The staff is extremely friendly. It’s a family owned joint and they take pride in their food. If you want it extra hot, just let them know — they’re happy to turn up the heat. Our favorite dish is Drunken Noodles with Chicken — 2 – 3 times Thai hot. Yummy!
