Guacamole is $ 4! I can buy a piece of avocado for $ 1! Of course guac is expensive and there’s other ingredients to it besides avocado but this felt like such a ripe off. They probably used ¼th of an avocado! I ordered a veggie this that came with quesadella, bean burrito, and chulupa. I can’t say I ever crave for Mexican food because it seems so easy to make. I tend to avoid easily cooked meals if I’m dining out. Everything was good though. Mexican food doesn’t get so exciting for me. Additionally, the salsa was extremely runny so when you dip your chip, nothing stays on the chip. There’s many ways for this to happen: intentionally made runny, added too much tomatoes or they scooped it out of the large stock so many times that the consistency is lost. There are seats outdoors and indoors. We sat outdoors and enjoyed nature. It’s next to a green way! As for the speed of the service, it was fast except when we asked for more salsa(that took forever).

Salsa was too watery, and there was big pieces of tomato in it! I ordered Guacamole and t was just avocado! We ordered 2 of the combinations. It was the worst Mexican food I ever had! The service… there is no service actually! I am surprised why it is so crowded here

We had Taquitos & steak/chicken fajita. There were a lot of UT students hanging out when we were there. Service was fast, food was good.

I didn’t like this place at all. The food was unexceptional and it had old rancid grease which transferred the taste to the chips and all the food that was fried. I couldn’t eat it. They have a nice patio though.

Absolutely authentic mexican food. Great tacos, enchiladas, rice, and refried beans. I’ll be back to try the tamales and I feel very confident they will be excellent. A friend had a giant burrito with a hot sauce that exploded with flavor and he allowed me to try it. Place to be in Knoxville if you want Mexican food.

El Mezcal doesn’t look like anything special, but when I want Mexican, the food doesn’t disappoint. This is a great place to get basic Mexican fare, such as chimichangas, and the servers are so attentive, which is a huge bonus. You’ll never want a drink refill, extra chips, or more napkins for long before someone heads over, anticipating your need. The happy hour is pretty generous, as well. I live less than a mile away, so I’m likely to frequent here. It’s easily deserving of my patronage.

Clean, friendly, and service is on point for a large party. The food here is good and the portions are large. You either come out of here feeling a bit sedated or with leftovers that will be great for the next day. I tried the chile colorado with red sauce. They offer it verde but lets try it the traditional way. Imagine small bite size chunks of beef simmered in a red almost enchilada like sauce for hours. Put it on a plate with Mexican rice, beans, and warm tortilla. Ask for some grilled jalapeños(off the menu item). If you like a little heat than you would definitely want to get these on the side to compliment your meal. Their salsa is homemade and it mild for those not wanting heat. Pretty good and tasteful. I also had the shrimp cocktail. It was filled with cooked shrimp, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, and avocado in a schooner filled with a tomato ‘broth.’ Squeeze a bit of lime in and add some chopped grilled jalapeño and you are golden. I will have to some back and try the happy hour.
