Staff Is Rude Lights were on and doors were open until we were about to buy, and the person behind the counter turned off the lights and told us she was about to close. It was the most information we heard from anyone besides yes and no mumbles about the products or vaguely pointing somewhere. We put everything back.

I have purchased candles from this business several times over the years and had always been delighted. The 5 tall pillars that arrived 2 wee j s ago were a big disappointment because they looked and smelled old. There wa very little fragrance. For the price… I expect more.

Potions and lotions! And candles! What could be better? In my world, potions, lotions, a hot bath and a candle are the magic antidote to many, many maladies. Cold winters night? Hot bath and a candle. Stressful day at work? Hot bath and a candle. Sad about your vacation coming to an end? Hot bath and a candle. I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, it works. Island Soap and Candle Works is one of my favorite businesses on the island, and in particular, this location at the Kong Lung Center is my favorite of their shops. They make a product full of island scents, and there are some fantastic smells to be enjoyed here: island coconut, pitake jasmine, lemongrass geranium, gardenia, passionfruit, pineapple, plumeria, white ginger. My favorites include plumeria, pitake jasmine and lemongrass geranium. I love the North side of the island, and this outpost at the Kilauea Kong Lung Shopping Center, with its historic buildings and fancy clientele is a fun spot to shop and people watch. They actually make their candles and soaps onsite, which is a great thing to see if you happen by at the right time. The shop is organized, well priced and easy to shop, unlike some of the neighboring art galleries in tony Kong Long, which are out of the comfortable reach of most of us. If you don’t like scented candles and soaps, skip it! But for my money, nothing kicks off a trip to Kauai like picking up a great scented candle(a 3″ pillar candle of great smelling Lemongrass geranium for $ 6, this visit) and lighting it after a day of sun and surf.

Great little shop that offers locally made soap and candles(other products too). The candles smell fantastic and are some of my absolute favorites. I’m not a big fan of the soap, but then again I’m not a big fan of any bar soap anymore. I prefer the organic Malie products on my body due to skin sensitivities. The lotions smell amazing, especially the pineapple. but in all honesty, I would buy these products at the local Walmart to save a few bucks.

Interesting little shop. Glad that we went in, but might not go back on the next trip. Scents abound, so don’t venture in if you have a sensitive nose! Was hoping for more handmade/local items than the imported stuff. Staff was a bit standoffish.

Fun little shop with a lot of great soaps, candles, and other little things-perfect for bringing home scents from the islands or for gifts for loved ones back home.

We’ve been buying their soap for years and although I can get it via the internet, visiting their store in the Princeville Center is always a treat. The soap is well made and great for your skin, especially during the dry winter months. We just stocked up on a number of bars and their new bath salts… can’t wait to try that.

Mmmm… So Soapy! Hands down best place for picking up gifts, souvenirs and all things«smell good stuff» to bring home and relive your gardenia and plumeria scented days on Kauai. Super charming — and super aromatic — shop in the lovely Kilauea Kong Long Shopping Center where you’ll find handmade soaps, candles, knickknacks, lotions, potions and all things fragrantly wonderful. I especially adore and often hoard their essential oil soaps. Not only do they make really thoughtful gifts for my friends back on the mainland, but the quality is truly noticeable in how long they last, how moisturizing they are and how much they just remind me of my favorite place on Earth. Best buys at Island Soap & Candle Works are definitely the Mango Coconut Guava Lotion, Pikake Bamboo Candle and the Morning Mint, Vanilla Orchid, Gardenia and Passion Fruit soaps. Trés yummy! One last helpful hint — and Sun Worshiper Alert — they also carry the BEST sunburn, bug bite, chapped lips and dry skin cure-all remedy: Surfer’s Salve. Containing great stuff like olive oil, plantain leaf, comfrey leaf, beeswax, aloe, rosemary, lavender leaf, vitamin e, tea tree oil and lavender essential oil, it makes any lobsterization of your precious skin super manageable. I swear by it. You will too.

Move over, Yankee Candle. Island Soap & Candle Works is the real deal. Not only do they serve up deliciously scented candles — that they make on-site, by the by, you can watch them at work — but they also serve up deliciously scented soaps, lotions, lip balms, and other various body products. Love the Kauai Kiss lip balm, which tastes and smells like a luxurious piña colada. I’m also obsessed with their plumeria lotion and candles. I loooooooooove the smell of plumeria, but where are you gonna find anything plumeria-scented stateside? Not a whole lot of places. Which is why I bought my weight in lotion and candles while visiting Kauai, and why I resupply myself off their convenient website. Plumeria = heavenly! This store in the Kong Lung center is adorable, too, and is so bright and breezy it almost feels open-air. Inventory is displayed on shelves, on tables, and in rustic old wooden barrels. In our one week on the island, I dragged husband here three times before finally loading up. We’ll be back this December, and I’ve already added Island Soap & Candle to the itinerary.

My all-time FAVE place to get candles. I’ve since moved to SF, but everytime I’m back in HI, i Have to drop by Island Soap and Candleworks to get my «RAIN» candles in all shapes and sizes. My fave Island Candke store is undoubtedly the one here in Kilauea. Definitely worth a stop here before hitting up the Lighthouse

Love this place! The smells that waft out of this little place could turn a cold heart warm. They make all their candles and soaps on site, and their coconut lotion is one of my favorite things in the world. Their candles smell true to what they represent and that’s why I bring home so many Plumeria ones! There used to be an adorable cat named Sophie who ‘ran’ the store, but she isn’t there any more. Burning their candles at home brings those awesome memories back.
