If you find yourself anywhere near Kerrville, TX and are dying for some classic Tex-mex, and also need a Venti Americano from a Starbucks but don’t want to have to leave the restaurant just to go to a Starbucks, and wish you could find Dreyer’s Ice Cream parlor right there in the dining room. And an arcade game room, and the most fun huge cart of gum ball machines. Then this is your place. Unless you have an actual tongue and want your food to taste like food, then maybe not so much. I wonder if I will ever find a Mamacita’s in a Starbucks?

This is our second time here and both times the food and service were outstanding. Although the restaurant was packed and we had a wait, the food came out fast, the steaks were cooked to the correct temperature and the server was prompt and courteous. Cost including 20% tip for ice tea, 2 rib eye steaks and cheesecake was $ 60.00(no alcohol). Great value.

Very attentive staff, chips good, salsa different, but OK. We had table of 7, steak dish was good, he other 6 plated dinners were marginal, these consisted of fajitas to tacos. The deal breaker were the numerous flies that kept buzzing the table. The restaurant has an issue with flies.

Big place, very well decorated. Large portions. Yes, when its busy, its busy — but time it right and you’ll have great service to go along with the great food.

Took forever for waitstaff to take order, then came back later wondering if we were ready to order. Nearby tables ables were not bussed. Each of our meals was not good. Tacos al carbon/beef seemed to be mystery meat. Flautas no filling you could taste — fried tortilla was too thick. Tacos soggy, again«mystery meat» Carne guisada worst he ever had. Been here in years past & always good. This time very bad. What happened?

I don’t eat here often because they don’t exactly have lite fare… especially with the all you can eat chips, salsa and parrot poop(fake guacamole)(it is all just to tempting for a fat boy like me) BUT they always deliver a high level of service and a consistent product. If you want to get in and out quick, have good food and be treated like your important… this is the place.

Unbelievable that a chain Mexican fusion restaurant would serve the best steak I have had since moving to Texas! The food was outstanding, the service was fabulous and the place was packed. Best place to eat we have found for any type of cuisine!

We were in Kerrville a few days from Florida. We both had fajitas. The food is among the best Mexican we have ever had. Everything was hot and delicious. Presentation and service also great.

The outside of this place looked great, so we decided to try it out. We were disappointed as soon as we walked in. From the tacky décor and dated furniture to the fluorescent lights, this place was lacking. The blue(yes, blue) dip that came with the chips was horrible, and the salsa wasn’t even good. The food was mediocre at best.

Reminds me of the same one in San Marcos. Looks fresh, don’t taste so fresh. It’s not awful, just not the best place to eat. Staff are friendly enough, just a shame because it can be so much better.

Has a nice atmosphere, the staff has never been rude. The food is ok. It’s very similar to the chain abuelos.

The surprise is great red snapper served grilled, so if you are tired of Tex-mex humdrum try it. The staff has husslenmost days and really makes the effort to keep you satisfied. Portions are generous so you will see many to go boxes for lunch the next day!

I was surprised when a friend said to drive to Kerrville for a ribeye steak… at Mamacita’s, a Mexican restaurant! Well, the rains stopped and the day was cool, breezy and sunny; perfect for a drive from Boerne, so we thought we would try a Mexican steak. The environment of this place is awesome, with stars in the sky, musical ambiance to fit the mood set by a creek and waterfall, saltillo tile floors and plants with a patio feeling whether you eat indoors or out, and the nicest people! First we received a basket of tortilla chips with TWO sauces; one is a wonderful homemade tomato and chile-based salsa but the second is a guacamole/sour cream and other dreamy stuff that is addictive. Then a delicious salad with blue cheese dressing and finally the most tender, juicy and tasty ribeye with a huge baked potato that came with a side of butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar, chopped green onions AND bacon! OMG — this place is amazing. Whether it is a table for two or a set-up for 20, this place is THE place to visit if you are anywhere within an hour of Kerrville or driving east or west on I-10 between El Paso and San Antonio, it is worth it to get off for a truly feel-good, «happy» meal at Mamacita’s. DOIT! Maybe next time I will try the Mexican food! LOL OH, almost forgot… if you have room for it, they have a dozen or so cheesecake options(not that we had room for desert), a Starbuck’s, an Eddy’s Ice Cream Parlor and so much to see — enjoy!

«Go to Kerrville,» they said, «it’ll be fun,» they said. Famished and weary from our half-day trip from Austin, we arrived on a Sunday wanting to catch a glimpse of the Patriots/Cowboys game and discovered a shortage of open establishments. Although we had very low expectations for this Disneyland of Mexican food joints, even those would be diminished soon after walking through the doors of Mamacita’s. Let me say I’m seriously concerned for the palettes of those people who rated this restaurant highly, saying things such as «the green sauce was to die for.» After trying said green sauce, any and all hope we had for having a decent meal at Mamacita’s did in fact, die. So, being in land of queso, we decided to only order queso and guacamole. Both were astonishingly bland. We emptied half the salt shaker into the yellow and green blobs and ordered some pickled jalapeños to help coax it down our throats. Yes, we were THAT hungry. Meanwhile, some Kerrville resident was celebrating his/her birthday upstairs. Maybe the free cheesecake is worth enduring the the preceding intestinal assault? If you happen to find yourself in Kerrville on a Sunday with a dangerously low blood sugar and wanting to catch a Cowboys game, do yourself(and your colon) a favor and settle for some gas station fare, tune your radio to 103.9FM, and drive a half hour to Fredericksburg.

Fantastic large restaurant in the small town of Kerrville. The margaritas and mojitos are on point. The tortillas were the best anywhere and the mysterious green dip was tasty. Downside: sour cream chicken enchiladas taste weird, the cheese enchiladas were greasy and the rice was bland. The beans were your regular refried, not bad. Still 4 stars because the chips and salsa were good… and the former few things. Also, this place is very clean! I lived in a small town and would have loved one of these. We will be back for for our Thanksgiving visit.

It had been a couple of years since I last ate here and I’m not sure why! Friendly greeters at the front door always makes a good impression! My best friend and I were seated outside per our request right away. I splurged and ordered a Sangria Swirl. It was strong and delicious!(Only bad thing is that it melted fairly quickly since it was so humid outside) The green sauce is to die for(comes with the salsa and chips) It was so good my BFF ordered some to go! For the entrée I ate the Spinach Enchiladas and OHMYGOSH they were the best I’ve had anywhere in all my travels. My BFF ordered the Cheese Enchiladas and loved them as well, very cheesy(and she is a picky eater!) This place can get packed quickly but it is so worth the wait!

Great food as always. Beef fajitas were so tender. Tortillas were hot and fresh. Really enjoyed dinner with my with, the restaurant was pretty quite. Waitstaff was busy and tended to forget ya, but it happens. I would recommend it as a top spot, priced right and plenty to eat. Update: The quality of food has diminished greatly. I am not sure if they changed suppliers or if the market for beef has gotten that bad. The beef fajitas were very tough and flavorless and this is the second time that has happened since my initial review. Waitstaff was over worked and they had trouble keeping our glasses full. The tortillas were still hot and fresh when you could get a waiter to bring you a couple. I am disappointed in one of my favorite restaurants going down hill to this extent.

While I don’t particularly care for Mexican food, this place a been a part of my life since I was young girl that looked forward to going to Kerrville for a few weeks of every summer. I would walk around the block and beg my aunt to drop my cousin and me off just so we could indulge in the soppipias(sp). I was always too consumed with the thought of the honey dough to be worried about how we would get back home. As the years have passed, and I only visit Kerrville to see aging family members, Mamacits is still a unwritten must that we all indulge in. However, it might be time to erase that«must.» Last night’s shrimp enchiladas were a pitiful joke. The came out so fast, I thought I was in a fast food restaurant. The cream sauce was sour, the shrimp were rubbery, there is no way that the tortillas were homemade, the rice tasted a bit instant, and the atmosphere just wasn’t as jovial as usual. It makes me feel old to know that something I once loved is no longer appreciated and loved by all. It seems that several things are changing, dying, or missing the great quality it once had.
