Finding myself here after ten years. I have buried 3 loved ones to rest here. A quiet peaceful place that has changed so much since I was here last. Their is nothing left of the lake view anymore. Everything is dried up. Leaves you erg a very sad vibe after seeing it so beautiful years before. I love kernville and the only reason I would come back is to visit this cemetery.

Neat old cemetery(located at the end of ‘Old Cemetery Rd’ which makes it easy to find). Well-maintained and interesting to see grave markers which go back 150+ years. Obviously still cared-for which was nice to see. Also check-out ‘Cottage Grove Cemetery’ in Onyx, mid-way between Kernville and Hwy 14. Both are worth a visit.

Anyone who is interested in history, spookiness, or things to do for free should check out The Old Kernville Cemetery next time they’re in the valley. It’s cool to see how many of the original pioneers in the valley were from England or Ireland. You can also recognize names from the streets in the surrounding neighborhoods. Maybe you can ponder the mystery of why so many young men passed away in 1876. Mining accident? Disease? Who knows. That’s a question for the kind folks at the Kernville Museum. And a small request: Please pick up any trash you happen to find on the cemetery grounds if you do visit.
