Managent was nice. Cheap. Don’t expect the Marriot here. Rooms are outdated. Towels are too small; bring your own towels. Also if you stay here over the weekend the local restaurants close early and some are not even open over the weekend.

The motel is fine for what it is — a 1-star quality motel. I stayed in a king w/kitchenette and paid $ 65/night. $ 40/night would be more appropriate. There is a TV with cable and remote, but no clock or telephone. The bed linens were clean, but the bed was too soft and I woke with a sore back and stiff neck. Soap and shampoo were provided. The soap breaks easily and doesn’t produce much lather. The shampoo comes in a plastic pouch that cannot be opened without scissors or a knife — an issue that didn’t come up until I was already wet and naked! The shower has good water pressure and the hot water is actually hot. The shower itself is very small and there isn’t much room to maneuver. The door lock is flimsy so don’t leave anything of value in the room. So for a clean no frills place to crash for a night this motel is fine, but if you want to spend any amount of time awake in your room you’d probably do better elsewhere.

We loved this place! It is off the main highway across from a park and open space, so it is quiet and pretty! We particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the evening(they have quite a few tables and chairs outside the rooms) and watching the sunset as the day cooled. It is very clean and as others have said the owners were extremely kind and helpful. It is clear that the owners are and have put much time and expense in fixing the motel up since they purchased it. It was very well priced and quite a bit less then other motels we looked into. For us, it is exactly what we hope to find in a small town, a quiet, comfortable independently owned motel that allows us to enjoy the surroundings!

This is an awesome out of the way hotel. Quiet, beautiful park across the street. The owners are very nice and helpful. The owner helped me get something and I felt I was imposing and he said, «You are my guest, you are like family.» Rooms very very clean and reasonably priced. I highly recommend. I see some reviews about repairs being made… they must be complete because all paint looks brand new, parking lot looks new, kitchenette is perfect, bathroom spotless, walls in room look new, not certain what else they could do.

It’s a motel but the new owners were very caring, nice, and generous. Great location. Couple minute walk to a overview of the lake. Clean, peaceful, quiet. This was a good stay!

A ittle motel off the beaten path in wofford heights. The good part is that the rooms are very clean and the owners are pretty nice. Also the room does have a refrigerator and microwave. However, the place is in serious need of repairs. I guess they are working on it, but it’s still pretty bad. A couple of glass light fixtures were broken but were still being used. The little air conditioner was really loud, but it did keep the room cool. The toilet paper was the worst I’ve ever seen. All in all, not horrible, but there are a lot of other places in the area. We won’t be back to the mountnlake anytime soon.

I’m guessing the previous review came before the new management took over. This place looks dumpy on the outside, and needs lots of TLC. But, on the inside, I had a clean, quiet room, with TV, microwave, fridge, hot water, towels, shampoo, soap, and a clean, comfortable bed. I paid $ 50 for one night, which was $ 20 less than the next cheapest place around. The owners are a nice, hardworking family who recently bought the place and are doing renovations. If you need a simple, clean, comfortable, no-frills and inexpensive place to stay in the Kernville area, I recommend Mount-N-Lake Motel.

Terrible! I wish someone had warned me about the Mount ‘n Lake Motel. First off — we were suckered in by sites that offer a glowing«user» review of 4 – 5 stars stating what a nice time they had at this motel. I’m now convinced these were posted by the motel’s owner. I later found two likely-to-be-honest reviews on TripAdvisor, one of which included photos demonstrating the nasty state of affairs at the Mount ‘n Lake. Check those out. I wish I had seen them before… Secondly — this place should be condemned. Seriously. You’re better off tenting in a campground nearby. At least you won’t worry about staff infections and cockroaches while you’re nestled in your sleeping bag! The place made my first apartment look like a luxury condo. My finacee and I were afraid to touch anything. We slept fully clothed — she insisted on sleeping on our beach towel to avoid contact with the bed. We were brave and used the shower, but kept our water shoes on. I should note that we enjoy camping and general adventures in travel — we’re not snobby or overprivelaged when it comes to accommodations. We’re can forgive a lot, but with anything there’s a tipping point. In a nutshell, here’s some of the things we found during our one night stay: The manager didn’t give us a room key, explained that«we don’t lock our doors. No one will go into your room.» We felt differently and got our room key for a $ 5 deposit.(and she ended up going into one of our rooms while we were out) Our rooms(we rented 2 for our party of 4) reeked of bleach cleanser. The spray bottle was still in our bathroom. Oddly enough, the rooms still didn’t seem clean. The place and everything in it was old and nasty. I don’t know how else to explain it. It was gross. No hangers in the closet. No towel racks. No toilet paper dispenser. No toilet paper. No shampoo. No soap. Old, mis-matched towels. Hand towel had a big black skid mark on it. A single, bare-bulb lamp. The manager showed us the ceiling fan, explained that it wabbled a lot, but«don’t worry. it won’t come down on you.» The manager, convinced we didn’t have a bath mat(she was wrong), appeared in our door and tossed another mat on the bed on top of my clothes, then left. In one of the drawers I found two random novels in German and… a diaper. The manager, when shown the diaper, commented that a lot of women from broken homes come to stay at the motel, then tossed the diaper back in the drawer. Our friends found a big cockroach in their bathroom. Overall, the management seemed unaware that anyone might be put off by the state of afairs at the motel. It’s as if she’s never stayed in a proper hotel/motel so she has no frame of reference. The experience was alotogether bizarre. Not to mention the stacks of boxes in the back filled with chainsaw chains and chainsaw oil! Creepy. We stayed at a quaint little motel the next night and had a perfectly nice time. Lesson learned.
