Lobstah special! Woah this was one heck of a great experience and deal. During a work trip in Boston I decided on a whim to visit Maine to say I had been. And what do you do while in Maine you ask? Eat Lobstah! Ok enough of the accent. First of all, this isn’t a restaurant but rather you just call in to order and pick up once you get there. You can eat wherever you want so you get a bargain prices meal and can take it anywhere. The moment we arrived to Roberta Sanborn’s cute little shop next to her home we knew we were in the right place. She greeted us in the parking lot as we were snapping photos of the little red building. She prepared our two lobster rolls(toasted buns with butter and lobster, no mayo just as we requested) and two 1.5 lb steamed lobsters. Total price: $ 52 after tax. Amazing!!! She recommended we eat at the public beach access point which is just across the street from The Colony Hotel. We arrived at 7:30 as the sun was close to setting in early June. What a perfect meal! The taste was unimaginable and I can’t recommend you support Roberta. Try her out instead of the fancy restaurant. Save $ and make your own experience.

Best lobster roll that we had on our entire trip. Home-cooked-meal. So good!

We cannot say enough about Roberta and Sanborn’s Seafood Stand… we do a clambake every year on Memorial Day, and this year we stayed somewhere with no cooking options. We called Roberta, explained our dilemma, and she totally saved the day. We went over to her charming house and shop, picked out everything and she not only got it together for us, but cooked it too! We came the next day to pick it up, and she had everything ready for an amazing price. The food was great, everything cooked to perfection. Roberta is the greatest, and she saved the day.

This place has an amazing selection of fish. They also have fresh produce, locally made preserves and pickled goods. You can call ahead and have a lobster roll or lobster waiting for you when you arrive.

We’ve been buying all of our fish from Roberta /Sanborn’s for years when we’re at our summer home in Kennebunkport and never thought that she would be on Unilocal until today when she mentioned having 5 stars. Roberta runs a small farm stand that has the freshest fish. She’s a talkative & spunky Down-easter & gets her lobsters primarily from family lobstermen and fish from a local distributer. From our friends that are lobster lovers, her lobster rolls are«the best». We especially love her salmon, swordfish, and homemade crab cakes. They’re on par with some of the best restaurant crab cakes we’ve had from Maine to Alaska. Sometimes she has fresh picked Jonah crab that’s absolutely fantastic for crab rolls or in a salad.

A MUST visit when in Maine … Fresh fish and seafood(CANT beat her prices on lobster) Veggies straight from the garden and local farms. The best homemade pies and classic Maine whoopie pies. Mrs Sanborn is a gem, who will make your Maine vacation even better then it already is …

Fantastic little seafood place run by a true mainer. The menu depends on what’s fresh that day, and the lobster rolls are overstuffed and sooooo sweet. A teeny bit off the beaten path, but so worth it!

What a great little place! Just what you expect to find in the quaint villages of Maine. This little shop is not in the main business district, making it all the more quaint. We stopped here 5 times during our 8 days in Maine. Roberta, the shopkeeper is cute as a button! She is a spunky little lady, and lots of fun to talk with as she prepares your purchases. We looked forward to going back each time just to visit with her. She has had this business for a long time and I hope she can continue this little business for a long time to come. We bought lobster there for two meals. Her son and grandson bring them in fresh. Excellent, fresh lobsters at a fair market price. Her daughter bakes many of the pies, and she also carries pies from an excellent Maine bakery. She carries other fish and seafood, though we didn’t try any this trip. She also makes a salmon pie that I would love to try. Maybe next time. There was a small amount of produce when we visited, but since we were there in early June, the produce from her garden wasn;‘t available yet. We bought our lobsters live, and she gave us perfect instructions on how to cook them. She also prepares lobster, lobster roll and other things for customers who prefer not to cook. The Kennebunkport area continues to get more commercial. I prefer to support small, local vendors such as Sanborn’s. It is what makes the coast of Maine such a special place to visit.

I agree with the only other reviewer(to date). We spend a week every season in a small town near this area, and a trip to Sanborn so I can get some scallops to grill and hear from the woman who runs it is a must every time. The food from here is good, but more than that, it makes me glad to know this place is here. Full of character and part of the landscape of the area. They sometimes have good pies too. I look forward to stopping in every time.

Oh how I love me some Mrs. Sanborn! Hard working native Maine stock of a woman dishing out über fresh local seafood & lobster. Pick your own(if she ran out) seasonal veggies from the garden like zucchini, tomatoes, Basil, corn. Home made Maine blueberry jam & pies, wopie pies, picklles, soup. She will make you an authentic lobster or crab roll too for a silly price while you load up her small counter w local goodies. Privileged to support this dying breed of a spot! I pray you will too!
