I would love to comment about the food, but since we were ignored by the waitress walking around us for 30 minutes we decided to leave.

BESTSUSHIEVER! I’ve tried sushi at other places, nothing tops the sushi here or the service.

Food was good but was coming out of the kitchen a little slow. The food and restaurant itself deserves 3 stars but I am giving it 5 stars because of our super server Ashley. Excellent service from our server and we will definitely be back.

We’ve had great service with great food every visit. Not only is the staff fantastic but if you like your food with a fancy«presentation» this place is for you. I have to take time to mention three of the ladies who work there. They have so much fun taking great care of the customers, I’m not sure if they think they’re working at all. If you stop in, hopefully you get taken care of by Jenny, Amanda and Ashley.

One great restaurant! I was lucky enough to have the good sense to visit this sushi restaurant on my birthday. I didn’t expect more than a quiet lunch with my sister, but wow, did I receive so much more. We had the fortune of having the shop owner, Kimberly as our chef, to my delight she made the best specialty dishes ever. The snapper sashimi with her special toasted garlic sauce was AMAZING, along with the best most tender and flavorful eel(unagi) sushi ever, I was never a fan of unagi, until I had it done RIGHT, at this restaurant. More superstars of the night were the yellowtail sushi and the banana tempura with ice cream, …just decedent! Everything was just so much of a treat and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable. For drinks, the owner came up with delicious sake bombs and flaming doctor peppers! I loved it all and the experience really made my brithday! I highly recommend this restaurant over the many places in Katy, as there is real skill taken in preparing the sushi, sashimi, and rolls here. No huge sloppy chunks of sashimi here… it’s traditionally and skillfully sliced. The rolls are well thought out and all the ingredients complement each other. Well done sushi Nikko… well done.

Awful! I don’t understand the hype! The restraunt was pretty empty and it took over 2 hours(for a party of 2) for us to get through our meal. The fish was fresh and that’s about the only nice thing I can say about the experience. The service was extremely slow. The staff’s knowledge about their own menu was pretty non existent. The flavors were very bland. I also feel it was way overpriced for the quality of the food. The bad service was like adding salt to the wound. I will not come here again.

Good food with really good prices. I’ve never seen so much variety of Sushi here in Texas. I believe is one of the largest. Nice selection of Japanese beers. Must go again!

Very expensive for what you get. I don’t mind paying top dollar for good food, but this was far from good. We ordered two small bowls of edemame for our small kids and it was over $ 10. Our waitress was nice and polite, but we waited too long for 3 orders of sushi. Took about an hour to get our food. I will not go back. Lots of other better sushi places in Katy and definitely more affordable.

We went there last weekend with a groupon for $ 30 off. The food was great. We especially enjoyed the Monster roll. They also had some pretty great frozen drinks. All in all we had a great time until our bill came. We were charged twice for one of our rolls and our server did not deduct our groupon. We were assured these items were corrected. However, we learned later that the waitress had charged us full price and had not deducted the $ 30 groupon. This turned into a hastle, with us having to make a special trip to the restaurant to get our refund. When we arrived it took 15 minutes and the waitress did not bother to apologize for the inconvenience. So to sum it up the food was great, the service needs improvement.

All around everything was tasty that I ordered. we ordered the hibachi steak, epic roll and Howie roll. I was not impressed with the Howie roll. Very blah. The steak Hibachi was very tender and moist. It came with a side salad and I have to say the ginger dressing was off the chain. Yes, I did just say off the chain. They need to bottle and sell that stuff. Yummo! The epic roll has no rice but is wrapped in soy paper. I really enjoyed it. It’s very casual and my server Michael was very informative. Just a note they have a secret menu of items; ask for it when you go.

Big hint should have been the lack of customers on a Friday night at 7:00. I ordered a drink from the bar, and my mistake was asking for a lime with my drink. While others at my table received soft drinks quickly. My drink took almost 15 minutes to arrive. When I asked about the delay, they said they were waiting on limes. This was another sign of things to come. When ordering the waitress let us know that they were out of Lobster, and filet mignon. We ordered soup, salads, and the beef roll appetizer to start. These items made they way to our table in an orderly fashion. The salads and soup were good. The beef roll was tasty. For dinner my wife ordered shrimp tempura, my son ordered the hibachi steak, and I ordered the NY strip hibachi steak. When the food arrived at the table, they put my sons order in front of my wife, my order in front of me, and nothing for my son. My wife pointed out that the diner she received was actually my sons order and she passed it across the table. The waitress said sorry, and walked off. No shrimp tempura for my wife. My son immediately said his steak was only slightly warm, I also noticed that my steak was only just warm. No problem, I eat quick. once I reached the middle of my steak, it was cold. Not warm, not lightly warm, cold, and very sinewy. Difficult to cut. I asked my son if his steak was cold, and he said it was barely warm, but because his steak was served in pieces, he didn’t have an issue eating it. I wasn’t in the mood to eat a cold medium rare steak. When the waitress came around, I pointed out that my steak was cold. She apologized and said she would get the manager. My wife asked where her dinner was. The waitress said she would check. She came back and told us she forgot to order it. Another 10 minute wait for that to arrive. The manager came over and compped my steak dinner. I feel that the situation was handled to my satisfaction. We were offered a dessert, but declined. To sum it up, 15 minute wait for a standard mixed drink, cold food, missing dinner. I think the only thing this place has going for it is the happy hour sushi for $ 4 and $ 5, Monday through Thursday. There are so many better places to get Japanese food in the area I feel there is no need to visit Nikko’s again.

Amazing! Went with a group of friends and we all had a little something different. The tuna tower looked amazing, I had a sushi roll and hot rock beef and oh my goodness– it was amazing. The staff was exceptional and the food was phenomenal. I will be back with others to show off this hidden gem!

My bf and I had an old Restaurant. Com gift certificate we just used at this place. The Sunshine roll was very awesome, and my pick! Udon here is on point as well. The Salmon Roll was baby size but what can you expect for $ 5 I guess. Our server showed us a bacon twist roll that he said was about 12 pieces and cost $ 18.50. Yikes! It looked delicious though! The only letdown was the banana fried for our tempura was unripe and tasted like potato :(I was really looking forward to it, I remember it set the standard for me on our last visit. Oh also our coke tasted a bit dirty water– ish.

Today was my first visit to this restaurant. We called to place an order to go, and the girl acted like she was surprised(and even asked if it was a prank call) when we requested that she order us two of the most popular rolls(as first time customers we were not familiar with the menu). Her tone on the phone was extremely rude but what really irritated us is that she ordered two rolls that are not even on the menu! We were looking at the online menu at the«signature» rolls and couldn’t decide which one to go with, so we asked for the two most popular… They gave us two rolls, both over $ 20, that don’t even appear on the menu… Never did we ask for the two most expensive rolls… We definitely will not be back.

Average sushi and the place is a bit run down. We were sat at a booth that seat was torn. The service was pretty slow but decent. We came during happy hour and our server didn’t inform of specials. Overall, I probably wouldn’t return.

What is the fascination with paying big prices for little foods? Okay, the fat man will digress. Eating sushi is not a very detailed process for me. I know people that judge the texture of the rice and all types of attributes of that nature. Me, I only want the little nibblets to taste good! I decided to go safe and order the combo fried rice. That is basically fried rice with beef, chicken, shrimp, scallop and crabmeat generously mixed in for a quite filling dish. It had decent taste and worth getting again. There was so much to choose from, so I was glad that I had a great service personnel named Amanda, She was very patient and answered all questions with enthusiasm. She made several suggestions based on my taste preferences and was very personable the entire time. I think she sensed my frugal vibe and recommended a roll for me. Bacon twist sushi roll is not on the menu, but definitely is worth getting. No really adventurous from a raw fish eating stand point, but definitely worth doing. All in all, coming to this place is worth the experience, but I am still not sold on paying these types of prices for little amounts of food! Just do as I did and get the Groupon. With the Groupon in hand or on your phone, go enjoy the place at a discounted rate. My fatness, mixed with my frugalness will only me to give this place 3 stars.

Let me begin by saying one of the stars is for the fish tank only. That leaves one star for everything else. And that other star is mos def not for service. We showed up and it looked like a nice intimate setting for some sushi and tempura. But when we walked in, we were first hit by the noise. Then the worst hosting evar. Our host, the amazing Houdini, asked if we wanted a table for two… even though there were obviously three of us. We asked for a booth, he mumbled something about may be having one, gestured towards the dining area, and pulled a magic disappearing trick. We eventually found the one open booth, and waited for a menu. And waited. And waited. At this point, Tom Petty’s song, «The Waiting is the Hardest Part» began to play in our heads. We had noticed the host serving food, and making every effort to pretend we weren’t there. Ages later, as kingdoms had risen and fallen, and poles reverses, we got a menu. We must have been there for a while; inflation had played havoc with the pricing. After we ordered, we resumed the waiting, as a very violent movie was playing on the TV. Did I mention, this place was full of kids? As we waited, I imagined Robert Irvine, of Restaurant Impossible, coming in, and having a stroke. Poor cleaning methods, such as spraying a table down, and leaving it moist and spraying the soy sauce, were evident. The«live» music started, and our appetites left. This guy was sooooooo bad, but at least he was extremely loud. The drum machine had two settings: cheesy, and elevator. I shall commend his flawless reading of the music off his tablet, because that’s exactly how sax playing should work. He announced that he’d be there every weekend, so now we’re all warned. He asked for any requests, and we almost requested he pick a different profession. The food finally came… sorta. My son’s dish was probably the most technically correct. The hibachi shrimp was okay, and the vegetables were crisp. My wife’s nabeyaki udon was overcooked, and the meat was both chewy and far too big for udon. She said this chef should get chopped, because the meat wasn’t. My chirashi sushi was warm, and served with tasteless grocery store rice. If I hadn’t have been so hungry or had a reputation as a fat guy who would eat anything, I would have turned it back. But as we’d already waited 90 minutes for grub… Anyway, staffing shortages, less than stellar food, and the worst one man band yet to be mocked on youtube aside, I will say this: nice fish tank.

This is a great 4 hour long Happy Hour spot. That’s right, Mon-Fri 3p-7p. I recommend the lychee martini, or if you can’t get sloppy drunk at 3p, opt for a lychee spritzer(½ lychee with ½ club soda). Try the beef roll it’s like getting steak all cute and precut into bite size pieces with a dark sauce drizzle. The crab puff is like a fried wonton with a cream cheese filling. Dip it in the sweet sauce and you’ll wanna get a Asahi Black served in a frosty glass to wash it down. The sushi is all fresh, and sometimes the sushi rice is better than other days, but definitely get the unagi. The interior is pretty, and there are some tv screens(muted), and the servers are very attentive. If the sushi rice was consistently perfect, I’d give another star. Also, throw in some green tea Mochi for dessert and win me forever…

Nice atmosphere, but the food falls way short of expectations. One can say the essence of Japanese foods is fresh ingredients with presentation. The dishes we ordered looked ok, but the texture and seasoning is all wrong. Even the kitchen admitted the mistake on cooking time, but didn’t offer in anyway to make up for the issues. Nikko is more lounge than a restaurant, great social spot but not so much on the food. So the extra star is for the fancy interior, 2 stars for the food.

Ate at Nikko last night to meet with my book club. I’d heard great things about it, and I always love trying a different sushi place! Very nice atmosphere, and our waiter(David) was really cool. He kept cracking jokes with all of us. Service was a little slow, but we did have a table of 13… lots of plates of sushi, all on separate checks. I ordered the Hot Mamma(thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for the recommendation!) and the Volcano roll. Both tasted awesome! The presentation on the Hot Mamma was great. I would say Nikko is one of the pricier sushi restaurants I’ve been to, but I also didn’t order any of the plain rolls. And just missed Happy Hour! :(But I would definitely go back… really great food!
