J N Tailors & Alterations

I have been using J & N for 6 years and in my opinion, they are without question the best tailors in Katy, and the ONLY tailors I use. They quote fair prices and they do quality work just as planned. When I come in, Jenny somehow remembers my name in spite of her large client base. And when you climb up on that stool, she will have you measured and out of there very quickly. No matter the garment– formal gown all the way to fitting/​hemming jeans – the work turnaround is excellent. Jenny and her staff are easily some of the nicest and most qualified people around!

Best jean hem I’ve ever had. I had a pair of nice Paige jeans. Jenny took my measurements while I tried them on and it turned out so nice. She knows what she is doing. Only 10 $ and I was in the store for a very quick fitting and drop off. The jeans were ready a week later for pick up. I tried them on when I picked up and was out of the store in a few minutes.

This place is top notch! I wish I knew about them sooner. Their quality, service, hours and prices are excellent and in addition to that, their turn around time is fast. Stop getting overcharged at the other places.

I had my boys football jerseys altered here. I did have to buy and take the material I wanted bc I needed to make them bigger. They did an EXCELLENT JOB at a reasonable price.

I always shudder when I have to pick a new alterations place, as it’s pretty much a crap shoot. As I’m only 5’2″, taking dresses and pants to be hemmed is a semi-​regular and painful experience. My mother recommending this tailor to me when I was looking for someone to alter the hem on a dress as she takes items here regularly.
My dress is floor-​length with a pleated skirt, which needed hemming, and a halter too, which needed taken in (again, short person problem…). The dress was extremely expensive, though, and this dance was important, so I wanted the job done well.
The store itself is clean and basic. I brought my dress in a garment bag, so no worries there (as I see with the one other review). It was returned to me in the bag when I picked up my dress. The tailor was quick and efficient and offered a turnaround of only a few days. She was going to charge me $ 70 ($ 50 for the hem — difficult because the bottom of the dress would need to be pressed, cut, and then pressed again to restore the pleating — and $ 20 for the strap), but she was able to knock $ 10 off it. When I came in two weeks later, she recognized me right away, and I tried it on again. It fit perfectly and I was very happy with it. They had actually improved the clasps on my halter strap, too! Hooray for no wardrobe malfunctions!
I would definitely take something back here. If they can handle the pleated hem and redo my beaded strap, they’re a keeper for me.

They are ok for small stuff, like hems, jackets, i would never suggest taking your wedding dress here, or any other long dress for that matter. They pay no attention to your dress getting dirty on the bottom and drag them all around the dirty floors. I brought my wedding dress to them and asked if they could put something on the floor so my white dress wouldnt get dirty and she said no, you can bring something??? but i trust them with pants and small stuff. they are good for that… :)
