Come here on a Friday for All-You-Can-Eat Catfish. It’s a great deal at $ 10.95. It comes not only with all you can eat catfish, but it includes slaw, dirty rice and fries. I opted for the blackened catfish with the crawfish Pontchartrain. I really didn’t know what to expect coming into Catfish Mike’s. It was hidden in a strip center off Mason in Katy. Upon placing the order, it took us a while to get our food. We weren’t too bothered because the place was packed so we anticipated that it would be worth the wait. As soon as our food came out, Mike came out to greet us and check up on us. We had pleasant conversation and he invited us back for their steak night on Mondays. I think they should stick with what they do best– their golden brown, juicy catfish fillets.

I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Catfish Mike’s so I decided to give them a try. This is a new location for them and it is very small. Almost every table was full and a few were still holding dirty plates from previous customers. Service was a bit slow due to only two visible employees with one being Mike himself. I ordered the Catfish Basket with dirty rice and it arrived within 10 – 15 mins. The catfish was fried well and was golden brown. My two fillets were crispy and flaky at the same time. The fish was great really!!! Now that cannot be said for the sides. My dirty rice looked and tasted like boxed dirty rice mix from any grocery store shelf. The hushpuppies were small and overcooked but had a good flavor. Lastly, the cole slaw was ok and very average. Overall, Catfish Mike’s is acceptable as long as you don’t have very high expectations… but the catfish is really good. I’ll be back to check out some of the other menu items as I saw more than a few really tasty looking Po-Boys coming out of the kitchen.
