Even though there are many grocery items available in a town(Katy) where not many Arabic stores exist, everything is way overpriced! But that’s not the reason for my review. I went in a few days ago with a friend of mine to get some food, we ordered chicken and beef shawerma sandwiches and it was DISGUSTING!!! The chicken shawerma was dry but in the front so you can atleast see it, but for the beef, the guy went to the back to fix up two beef shawerma sandwiches and it was nothing short of horrible! The meat was cold and the nasty old fat taste was with every bite. I did not finish my food and neither did my friend. We were very disappointed with the place, just another Arab owner who puts money ahead of customer satisfaction because I’m pretty sure not even he would eat that nasty food. We for sure will not be returning to this gross place for anything other than an overpriced can of Arabic beans or something that I don’t feel like driving to Houston for.

I’ve been going to Alsafa for years and they have pretty decent food. Unfortunately my experiences lately have been horrible due to the employee they have working the grill. He’s a slender, tallish young man with Satan style facial hair. The older man who is clean shaven and the short, younger guy with the beard are great. They are always polite and friendly. I can even deal with the owner, who while not friendly, is not rude either. However, I will not be returning as long as Satan Facial Hair is working there. As I stated, he’s been pretty bad since he started working there and he’s even worse when the owner is not in the store. Before my most recent visit, I called to place my order because I know it can take a while. There was no answer. I called 10 mins later and someone picked up, presumably Satan Facial Hair. It sounded like I was on speaker or he was holding the phone away from his mouth. Either way I had to repeat my order like 4 times. When I arrived Satan Facial Hair was chatting on the phone and my food did not appear to be ready. I shopped around the store a bit and then went to pay for my things. When the clean shaven man was ringing me up, I told him I had also ordered food and would like to pay for that as well. He called over to SFH to ask if my food was ready and he said no. He was still chatting on the phone while he was grilling my order. I went to car and put my things in and came back and sat down right in the front. He didn’t say anything to me about my order, instead he continued to chat on the phone. Finally other people started to come in and order and he got off the phone. While taking orders, he began texting. I saw him pack up some food and put it by the register but he never said it was mine and then he went to the back. After a few minutes I asked the clean shaven man if my food was ready. He called to the back to SFH and he said it’s right there with so much attitude. Like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. How the hell am supposed to know the food is mine if you just plop it down and walk away? You knew I was waiting for it, but you ever said anything, like you couldn’t bear to talk to me. If I hadn’t thought to ask the other man, how much longer would I have had to sit there and wait? I’ve had all I can take of his attitude and when I want Middle Eastern food I’ll take my business to Cedars down the street, where they have good customer service. The owner needs to train that guy or fire him because Alsafa will continue to lose business because of him.

Family owned grocery with an awesome deli to sample authentic food. My husband and I have been eating the gyros here for years. Yummy! We have sampled many other dishes on the menu but always return to the gyros. While waiting for your deli order you can explore the grocery aisles, and the owner is always willing to answer questions about the food. We are always walking out with a new item for the pantry.

I’ve been to this place every once in a while for the last 2 years. The food here is good but the owner isn’t very sanitary. I went to get some shawarma with my girlfriend yesterday and while preparing our food he answers his phone with his food prep gloves. He never changed them. Also when he put his gloves on he licked his fingers then grabbed the gloves to separate them. A separate instance my sister came in for food and she claimed he was cutting chicken then took her order with blood on his hands, without washing his hands attempted to prepare her food but she left. Not coming back here ever again.

The food tastes good and authentic. Unlike the other reviewers, the owner has been exceptional with me. Ordered food twice for large groups and the prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Update: had the chicken shawarma and it was not very good. Will consider this place for catering orders only.

The owner of this business is a good person but looks like the new cashier he has hired has no prior customer service experience and is very disrespectful to the customers. Please hire people and train them well so they respect your customers and you don’t loose your good customers.

Great gyros. We buy Kufta to take home and cook as well. Some grocery items seem dated with no expiration dates.

Their meat is not bad but the vegetarian fed chicken is very expensive. Also their deli food is not bad but recently the chicken kebob has been very chewy/rubbery. They need to fix that.

Honestly the best gyros in town! The meat is extra tender and flavorful. The fries are just as good! Their seasoning is utterly spectacular. I bought some of their French fry seasoning just because it was so great. Definitely a place to stop by if you’re on this side of town.

I have never been so impressed by a Gyro with Halal meat before! Not only is their food tasty, it is also inexpensive. I ordered a Gyro with French fries. The meat, the onions, the tomatoes, the lettuce, and the sauce were SO amazing! All the vegetables were crisp and fresh; the meat was not salty at all! I loved the flavor and left the diner completely satisfied. The service is awesome! You are always helped whenever you need it. This is a restaurant and grocery store duo and it is SOYUMMY! Definitely swing by! It is a win-win-win.

I completely agree with one of the other reviewers who said the owner needs to learn better customer service. Based on the reviews, I thought the food would be much better. Hummus needs more lemon and garlic, very bland. Bread is dry hard and flat, salad is a regular house salad with thousand island dressing-huh?- garlic sauce was okay but there is a spicy sauce on it, which I didn’t really like. I got the chicken kebab and the rice was clumpy, the chicken was dry and there was not a lot. I don’t know about the reviews that said they give you plentiful meat… Um def not. So bad customer service and crappy food. They need to step it up since there are so many similar restaurants in a very short distance. Kabob korner has excellent customer service. There are also a few restaurants with better tasting food within 2 miles.

A friend brought me here for lunch one day. I was skeptical, but the food was delicious! I wasn’t find of the roasted cauliflower. I was expecting it hot, but it was cold. I was told by my friend it was supposed to be that way. Very well worth the time. Give it a try.

Great food, I love the lamb chops. Something about the way they prepare their food keeps me wanting more. A much healthier alternative to your typical fast food as well. They are also a market where you can buy most of your groceries.

I usually come here to pick up meat for cooking, but I enjoy their chicken shawarmas from the restaurant as well– fast, yummy and the fries taste good with the seasonings they use! I had their chicken shawarma three days in a row at one point because I was so obsessed! The only reason I’m taking off a star is because I tend to order over the phone and they forgot to make my order one time before I arrived– but definitely worth a try!

Tucked inside a strip mall, Alsafa is a grocery store that specializes in ethnic grocery food items. I specifically went here to try out both their gyro(or as the lady at the food counter called, «jai-ro») and falafels however. It probably took about 5 – 10 minutes for my food to be ready and my gyro came with a side of fries. Gyro was big and meat was juicy and excellent. I was disappointed that lady put the falafels in a pita wrap as I wanted it as a separate side instead of it being squished inside a wrap with sauce. The picture on Alsafa’s website didn’t show the falafels being put into a wrap :(It’s ok though since falafels were still alright.

Great store and food. Store selection is typical of Arabic stores, with a nice meat market. Kafta from the meat department is great, so is the lamb. Everything is very fresh, and prices are very decent. Small café that is part of the store serves delicious food. There is nothing fancy about menu, but a great deal of care and pride goes in to preparing your meal. Meats are marinated, and melts in your mouth. Just a great neighborhood store if you want to try something ethnic.

I am going to only 1 halal market — Alsafa. The owner is a very nice Arabic person, but the store has alot of Indian/Pakistani/Asian product also. The Hookah here are cheap also! Pretty clean, Halal meat is fresh to me :) Yes, i will come back!
