Sadly, it’s hard to find decent value in food at most hotels and there’s no exception here. Food was okay, but you’d have to really suck to screw up breakfast. Service was terrible… really terrible. Won’t be back and suggest anyone looking for better do so at the numerous places(very) nearby. An average server would have bumped this to three stars. Get up 15 minutes earlier, walk a block and start your day right.

Review is totally based on the service I received, the food was slightly below average for breakfast. The KC Strip was the thinnest strip I’ve ever been served. The manager was super friendly and talked to me quite a bit while I was eating. When she found out we were there for our anniversary, she took me over to the in-hotel Starbucks and instructed the barista to make my wife and I whatever we wanted, on the house.

Located ½ floor above the Hilton lobby is the room with the interesting name. I had breakfast here one time during my stay. Breakfast was served buffet style with a big variety of items, including cereal, bacon, sausages, fruits, juices, and yogurt among the items I remembered. It featured an omelet bar with your choice of toppings. It was all pretty standard with nothing really special about it. One note to mention is that we smelled of omelet grease the rest of the day. I’m not really sure how that happened as we were not standing next to where the frying action was. The room itself was elegant, featuring a lot of dark wood(I never did ask if it was walnut).

As far as hotel breakfast joints go, The Walnut Room was good. I like how strong their Starbucks coffee was brewed. When my wife and I ordered eggs benedict, the eggs were a little under done and the manager was all like«Oh HELLNO!» and she immediately took our plates back to the kitchen and had them remade perfectly. They even put some strawberries on the plate as an aside. Stay classy Kansas City and we’re thankful that we dropped by!

I was staying at the hotel and when I booked my room they threw in a free breakfast. This hotel has a lot of history and is a jewel in downtown Kansas City., Breakfast was really good. I had a cooked to order omlette… everything was cooked perfectly. This location had all of the usually buffett food, so you will definately not go hungry. There was also the infamous waffle machine. Who doesnt like waffles? Great place to have breakfast… it just feels like history and the food is really good too.
