Service is horrible. More disorganized and slow than rude or bad service. Even when there’s not much of a crowd. Pretty dirty as well. But i think that’s a given with most Denny’s.

Tish is literally the best waitress I’ve ever had. She’s an absolute delight and my husband and I look forward to seeing her everytime. We will always tip her 100%. Besides her wonderful service, this particular Denny’s appears to be rather understaffed frequently. I won’t take off any stats though, because they are always very accommodating and sweet. For those of you looking for fine dining at Denny’s, you’re being a bit silly. This is great for what it is, a humble diner.

Yep, we were tailgating at Wendy’s waiting to get a leg up on the Toyotathon sales event. The tunes were grooving and my buddy Harold was showcasing his new corduroy gloves. It gets me laughing just thinking about because Harold’s a classic cutup-class clown for about 70 years now and it’s a mad dash for second place. He was putting forks in his sleeves pretending they were regular hands. Get on over and start making some memories with your buds. and throw a few tots down your throat while your at it. ;)

I have avoided Denny’s restaurants all across the nation for over 15 years now because of atrocious service on many occasions. Well, today I had little choice but to go to a Denny’s for breakfast & coffee this morning. I was not disappointed. The service was to say the lease abysmal. It took 13 minutes to even be acknowledged. When I finally got served, the coffee cup(to go) was not even full. When I mentioned it, the server did fill the cup and gave me a rather unpleasant look. The coffee was terrible. It was weak and actually tasted stale.

I hadn’t eaten at a Denny’s for a decade until I stopped at this restaurant for breakfast. At 9:30 am, the restaurant was only about 1⁄3 full. There was no host/hostess in position, so we waited behind another couple in the entry for several minutes before being acknowledged and seated. Once seated, our order was taken promptly. Once served, the food was okay, as expected. The 30 minute wait for eggs, pancakes and sausage was unacceptable. Diners at neighboring tables had the same 30+ minute wait. Wait staff seemed to be working hard. Kitchen management needs improvement. Don’t go here if you are in a hurry.

It’s an awakening moment ordering a salad at this Denny’s. Many of the items were left out of the Cobb salad I ordered and it seems that asking the waitress for the items missing from your salad is not possible. What I find even more amusing is that the items that did get in my salad were wilted and close to the point of rotten. I would consider some consistency to this location a welcome change. We also ordered some French toast, and when she bought the order there was one piece on a plate but she charged us for a whole order. After our upsetting our waitress with the complaints about the missing salad fixin’ we decided not to piss her off further and just didn’t bother to mention it. I also find it appropriate to mention their tap water tastes funny.

This Denny’s is in such a convenient location that I would like to see it succeed. Craig, the manager, went out of his way to make sure I had good service. I was running late from getting out of work and needed to eat before I went to a show at the Kauffman Center. I said, «I’m in a bit of a hurry. Are there menu items that are faster than others?» He jumped into speed mode and said, «Yes, appetizers and soup.» I got my soup and my bill very quickly, and he even let me keep my car in their lot while I was at the Kauffman(weeknight, not busy). My one complaint is the restaurant has a musty odor, like the carpet has been spilled on and cleaned just way too many times. I have noticed this on multiple occasions. I wish Corporate Denny’s would come in and give this place the makeover it seems to need and maybe more people would enjoy dinner before or dessert after the events at the Kauffman.

This is more of a rant then a review but I have been going to this Denny’s to get my coveted fried cheese melt that is no longer on the menu. They have been making it for me with smiles every time. But then today I guess the manager had had enough and pulled the plug on my fried cheese melt. The servers are always sweet, but I won’t be returning. If anyone knows of any other fried cheese melts please contact me.

Lemonade was water and syrup. Then the waiter gave us a replacement razz berry ice tea. That came out well. But when I ordered my food it came out bland. And there also was a lady doing jumping jacks in the kitchen. I don’t know what you want out of your experience but this was surely interesting.

The food was awful. Ordered a burger and the bun was cold like it had been sitting in the fridge. My burger didn’t have what I ordered on it. My fries were cold like they had been sitting for 30 minutes. The only thing that was good was the service.

I shouldn’t expect much from Denny’s but seriously this one is bad. They appear gently don’t care if you eat because we waited to be seated for 15 minutes and no one even made an effort to help us. If you want people to seat themselves then take down the 3 signs that say a hostess will seat you. To top it off«Denise» said someone will help us when we walked in the door and she proceeded to throw us shade the whole time until we finally gave up and left. They weren’t busy and there were literally a dozen workers. The place was dirty. I can’t speak for the food because we didn’t get any.

Food is pretty tasty, service is kinda. Mediocre. It wasn’t busy at all and it took them several minutes to even acknowledge I was waiting in the lobby. I’m reluctant to take off more than one star though because past experiences have been better. Still, it’s a Denny’s. The food is reasonably affordable and good. If you’re feeling like going out and you want something better than a fast food joint, but not pricy or formal, here’s your place.

The food, like it’s clientele was very rough. Biscuits and gravy and pancakes are better made at home. The cantaloupe was a least a week old, and freezer burned. The service was friendly.

This is said to be the First Denny’s Restaurant in KC so we really wanted to give it a try ! Later we were told that the First Denny”s was in North KC. We love the $ 2 — &4 — $ 6 — $ 8 menu in addition to to the regular menu… We had the $ 2 plate of pancakes and it was more than either of us could finish ! For only $ 4 it’s all of the pancakes you can eat! Give Denny’s. try, they do have good food at a reasonable price !

Before hibernating from the Snowpocalypse that has just hit Kansas City, I dropped by to get some food… cuz Lord knows how long I would be stuck in the house, before I went outside again. haha I was attracted to this place, because of the giant advertisements on their windows showing off their $ 2-$ 8 value menu. Being the cheapo that I am, I swerved my car on over to this place. Their value menu was pretty extensive and had a good variety to it. I liked how it wasn’t just breakfast food. I got 2 orders of the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and an order of buffalo style grilled chicken wrap that came with chips and salsa. For only paying $ 2, the biscuits and gravy was definitely a bargain. They give you a generous amount of food,(a biscuit cut in half drenched in gravy and a hefty portion of hash browns).Disappointingly however the gravy was bland and only had a few chunks of sausage pieces. Gravy is what needed to save the dish, because the biscuit was too soggy and the hash browns were under seasoned… and I usually like my potatoes crispy. Sadly however it this dish did not deliver nor did it fill me up(I basically just ate the hash browns). Thankfully, the chicken wrap was delicious. The buffalo style chicken was juicy and grilled well. PLUS, they seasoned it perfectly! It was also a nice touch to include chips and salsa with it… and it was only $ 4! Love cheap food that actually delivers. I’d like to point out that the waitresses here were fun and quirky. I love how a few of them reminded me of a Lucille Ball or a Laverne and Shirley… but as elderly Betty White with a sense of wit and step to their walk that made them FAB despite their age! :) For a chain restaurant, the food could’ve been better… oh well, atleast half of what I ordered was good, but then again it’s hard to find a dish worth $ 2 to blow your taste buds outta the water. Happy Eating!

Normally I like Denny’s, but clearly each can be very different from one another. This one was HIDEOUS. I came here with a friend for a late dinner, about 11 pm. The restaurant smelled rancid, with sticky carpet. Later, I checked out the bathroom and it was worse with my sandals sticking to the floor and everything was filthy and laden with graffiti. We were seated at a booth that felt sticky and seat cushions peeling. I tried not to touch anything. I didn’t complain because my friend picked this place and wanted to eat here. The menus themselves were sticky too. I reluctantly ordered the avocado chicken Caesar salad and a decaf coffee. The waiter brought out a brown soupy bowl of liquid and set it down. As he was walking away, I asked what it was. He said it was balsamic dressing. «But doesn’t the Caesar salad come with Caesar dressing?» I asked. «Oh… ya,» he replied. Then he took it away. When my salad arrived, the wide rim of the salad bowl had dressing slopped around it and a BIG thumb print in it. I took a napkin and wiped all around the bowl’s edge. I picked away slowly at the salad, frightened I’d find a foreign object in it. I was polite and didn’t complain. I just wanted to leave as quickly and quietly as possible. Meanwhile my friend was annoyed that his two dishes arrived at the same time when he wanted the salad first and the«moon over my hammy» second. He didn’t seem to take notice of the filth all around us, nor the bad smell. I would NEVEREVEREVER return here.

Came here on a Friday night(around 11:30PM) after a Broadway performance at the Music Hall. My first impression was that everything looked clean but the whole place was awfully small. Being a huge fan of IHOP, I was impressed by anything Denny’s had to offer. But it was around midnight and you can’t really be too picky in the middle of the night. One strange occurrence did happen: My friend ordered coffee and likes to drink a lot of it. Her cup kept staying empty and she was getting pretty frustrated. She asked our waitress if we could keep the coffee pot on the table and our watiress said something along the lines of «I’m not typically allowed to do this, but I guess it’s alright.» About 5 minutes later, the manager comes over to our table all grumpy and without a single word, snatches the coffee pot off our table. Long live IHOP and their endless coffee…
