It reminds me of that shitbag Johnny Joe’s pizza. Just by looking at the toppings, you would think we were still in the great depression. The crust was good, but without toppings this pie is a loser. Oh, and the guy coughing his ass off while preparing my food really grossed me out. Sick fuckers and food service don’t mix, ASSHOLE!

I have been of Johnny Jo’s in the Plaza as close to my work. Having recently moved I saw The Pizzeria and was pleasantly surprised to walk in to see Johnny Jo himself behind the counter. While ordering my pie he took the time to discuss the 2nd location and the neighborhood. Now the pie. I cannot say enough about it. The sauce was flavorful, the crust was perfectly cooked, toppings fresh, cheese not too much or too little. My finicky eating kids could not get enough. The service and the food will bring this foodie back.

Just brought home Strombolis and a Works pizza. Amazing flavor. Sauce was perfect. Crust was east coast all the way. This is real pizza. No need to go anywhere else, ever… Seriously, why continue to be disappointed by big chain pretenders when you can get pizza and Stromboli as good as this?(Oh, cannoli too!)

After living in New York, I have been searching for good pizza in KC. This fits the bill — New York style, thin crispy crust. We love it!

As a native New Yorker who is ruthlessly picky about pizza, this is the place to go. The crust is spot on in regards to the texture, thickness and crunch. The sauce is just right, and the cheese is perfect. My favorite is the basil pizza. The cannolis are to die for and are contributing to my ever-expanding waistline.

Good ingredients, rude employees, dough still mushy. Will not be returning. I will have to drive clear across town to johnny Jo’s in west plaza(same owner) for a good slice now. That or just take my money to providence pizza off 71hwy.

Gave me old pizza, they just added toppings and warmed it. Called in for a pick up order and still had to wait another 15mins. Won’t be going back

Great thin sliced pizza by the slice. Staff was very friendly and accommodated our 4 yr old’s desire for pineapple on her slice. There is only seating for 6 people so not a place for a sit down meal. Would come back.

Tried this based on Unilocal reviews. Very good. Got the meathead pizza and garlic knots. Will definitely try again.

I enjoyed the two slices and a drink special($ 7.85). The large pizza slices were reheated in the oven, and were available in about three minutes. The pizza had plenty of toppings, wasn’t too greasy, and had a delicious, thin, crispy crust. The drink was in a bottle from a noisy cooler, and there was music coming from the kitchen. The interior was small, with seating for only six, and the service was somewhat friendly. It’s a dive, but the pizza is very good.

Went here to pick up some pizzas to take to my grandparents. They were very nice and even asked how I wanted them to cut the pizzas. Pizza is just like Johnny Joe’s and this place even delivers. They said they would deliver to where I live… even though it’s closer to the original. One of these days I intend to try the cannoli.

Great little hole in the wall six seater with best thin crust I’ve had in town. Looking forward to trying the calzone next time…

This place is amazing. I can walk to here from my house and as much as I like to keep a good thing on the down low I have to give props to these guys. The crust is incredible and belive me they do it right. If you want to get an awesome, filling meal get the two slice with a drink special for $ 7 bucks and some change. You seriously can’t go wrong.

This place was delish. Came by to pick up a slice for lunch since it was close to the office. It was definitely a great lunch decision. The slices were large, the pizza tasted great, and the guys at the counter were super nice. Would recommend!

Amazing pizza and the Stromboli is my favorite! Great portions and ingredients. The crust — Wow! Also, try the cannoli. Plain or dipped in chocolate, they are top-notch. Bottom line… You cant go wrong. This little place is a gem. It’s Wonderful!

Hooray! This little pizza shop was awesome! Another Unilocal find that ended up better than I could have expected. Go in, place order at counter, pay, tip cashier, receive free drink token for bar two doors down(Tavern on 103rd), go down there, have a couple of drinks, pizza guy surprises us by delivering our pizza to the bar, and bar surprises us by letting us eat inside! It was an awesome trip. Kansas City made me very very happy that night. :) Oh, I forgot to mention that the pizza and garlic knots were both delicious! I got the something something Jo’s, the recommended pizza for newbies.

I was always interested to try Johnny Jo’s after all of the fabulous reviews, but West Plaza just wasn’t an area I frequented all that often. However, 103rd is close enough to my work and convenient enough to my commute to justify stopping by. And I am so glad I did. The first two times I was there, John Milone was there and boy, if you were going to judge on enthusiasm alone, it’s five stars all the way. He loves what he does, and it’s totally obvious. The second time I came in I was taking a whole pizza home to Lee’s Summit, and he was great about giving me tips on how to bring it back to life if necessary. And it worked!(500 degree pizza stone, fyi) Fortunately, the pizza backs it up. I’ve done the pizza by the slice once, and gotten full pies twice, and it’s been fabulous every time. That crust… how he gets the crust so thin and crunchy, but still with that slight chew… it’s a pizza miracle. I was a fan of the previous tenant(Rosati’s), but The Pizzeria blows it away.
