OK… it’s been quite a few months since I last attended the art flea, but it was just so underwhelming. I really wanted to like it, but it was a kind of a mess. There is SOMUCH potential for it to be something on Saturday mornings that draws hundreds or even thousands of people downtown each week. Unfortunately, it was just a small gathering of vendors held in an indoor space on the second level of a former warehouse. It’s important to note that the vendors change every week, but when I attended there were probably 12 total vendors and about half were clear«craft fair» type vendors as opposed to interesting thrift or artisan vendors. It’s still an interesting, warehouse space with an overall good vibe. The Art Flea could be a huge boon to downtown and I’d like to see them assemble a larger and more impressive group of venders. Overall, I’d still say it’s a decent Crossroads stop after spending the morning at any of the local, area farmer’s markets… still needs some fixing though.
