Meet the new kid on the block at monthly West Bottoms antique extravaganza! Sequel is lean, mean, and ready to kick some antique-shopping ass! My number one complaint about the majority of the antique dealers that open up shop in the West Bottoms is that they cram every cubic inch of their store with crap that’s not even close to worthy of being called an antique. For example: this weekend, I noticed in one store inflatable giant bottles of Zima. Zeriously? That’s ztupid. When I walked into Sequel, the first thing I noticed was that the space was incredibly clean looking, and well curated. There wasn’t a ton of stuff here, but the percentage of stuff I’d actually be interested in checking out was shockingly high! They had some fantastic pieces of furniture including a vintage drafting table that I wanted SOBAD. There is also a small clothing section that would rival pretty much any«vintage» store that I’ve seen here in KC. I spoke with the owner, and he seems like a cool, thoughtful guy. He said he wanted to stock the store with his passions, which are art, design, and fashion. Additionally, he said he wanted to keep the store looking clean. I trust that I won’t be seeing inflatable malted beverages here any time soon. Zooray!
