Sports bar with a nice atmosphere. Ordered the chicken breast, baked potato and beans. It was ok, chicken lacking I flavor. I expected a full chicken breast not strips. They probably double the strips and breast … It’s a sports bar but they only have one game on, Mich st vs Iowa …

I was not a fan of this place until it came under new ownership. Now I am MUCH happier with how things are being run. They treat the people they bring in for shows VERY well which means they have great shows because talented people want to work there. I like the comedy show they do on Tuesday nights especially. The food is above average for a dive bar but still offers enough greasy and fried options to fit the bill. They have a good selection of beer and will make any cocktail you ask for(even if they might have to look it up).

I was in KC on business and since this place was next to my hotel, I’d figure I’d at least ask the fine people, at the front desk at the Hampton for their opinion. They said the food is actually really good and it’s pretty much a neighborhood bar. Bingo! They hit it right on the screws. The food is actually pretty decent(better than typical standard bar food) and they have a nice selection of beers. The entire beer and food menu is reasonably priced, and the service, although somewhat plain, is attentive. Overall, this is a dive bar with good food and drink specials, a nice atmosphere(yes, people do talk and interact with each other), and pretty good service. I’ll visit again next time in town.

Okay, went to the restaurant next to the hotel for a quick dinner. Best advice is just say no and go somewhere else. Wait staff is friendly, but completely forgot our order in a bar/restaurant that was not that busy on a Saturday night.

We visited All Star Grill and Bar looking to watch the US women in the World Cup finals while visiting the Kansas City, MO area. The staff were super accomadating, willing to change any of the tvs to the game for us. They even caught us up on the first 15 minutes that we had missed. Service was wonderful! Doug was our server and he was very attentive to our table, quick to fulfill requests, and offered great menu suggestions. He was also very friendly and easily joked with our table, keeping us laughing. I ordered a cheeseburger, based on Doug’s recommendation. The food was made to order and arrived pretty quickly after being ordered, especially since we were a larger group. It was fresh, hot, and delicious! Not only was the burger really well made and served on a really delicious bun but the fries were great too. Steak cut fries that were actually crispy! As a group, we ordered a large variety of items from the menu, and everyone was very happy with their selection. We also ordered a few mixed drinks from the bar. Drinks were made and delivered quickly, and I can honestly say it was the best Malibu and Pineapple I’ve ever had. They made it look really pretty too :) Overall, we all walked away really happy from All Star Bar and Grill, and it wasn’t just because the US won the World Cup!

I live right down the street and seen on Unilocal they had some mediocre reviews that kept me away for the better part of a year or so… Man did I miss out on a hidden gem of gastronomic proportion. I never eat steaks out of personal preference but I was talked into it by a self claimed regular and he was right!!! Best Wednesday night deal ever, super juicy steak cooked to exact preference. Homemade mashed potatoes and green beans just the way you expect with a hot toasted roll! Wow… the service was excellent and the beer fresh. I went on a previous night and had thier monday night wing special and it was the reason I went back this time! Highly recommended if your just wanting to catch a Royals game and drink a cold one or if your out to fulfill the taste buds and walk away satisfied!

Came in while staying at the Hampton next door, quick service and a decent local beer selection. The specials for both drinks and food look good, had the burger and it was excellent. The venue is in an odd spot, but the food is good and the service is as well. I would recommend this place to any travelers staying close by.

Went there one Wednesday night and was told it was dollar beer every Wednesday. The next time I had a chance to go in on a Wednesday we were looked at like they didn’t want us in the bar(which I don’t understand cause the bar sits in between a bunch of hotels which must draw in strangers all the time). Being glared at was not the worst part. When we ordered our drinks we were told they weren’t doing dollar beer night because they didn’t feel like it. When I pointed out that the sign for dollar beer was still on the front door they said«sorry but were not doing it.» Need less to say they lost our business that night and I haven’t been back since.

The All Star Grill and Bar is a restaurant /music venue in what looks to be a renovated Shoney’s or Ponderosa Restaurant. The business means well, but it’s not really the most ideal venue. The place goes for a rocker /biker theme with the staff all wearing Harley Davidson or old hair band tees. I didn’t try the food, but the menu offered easy staples such as burgers, chicken tenders, etc… The beer wasn’t fancy and heavily featured the big American breweries, but also offered Boulevard products. While not super sophisticated, if you were looking for some harder cocktails the bar looked like it stocked the appropriate tools of the trade to help you with your buzz. The staff was great. Everybody kept smiling and while there was a bit of a wait for drinks because of a good crowd, nobody was in a bad mood and the line kept moving. To me though, the place isn’t a music venue. The stage is set up on one side, but has booths along the sides and tables smack in the middle of the floor. This might work if the bar wanted to focus on singer songwriter matinees, but for a rock show(or even a country show, which could work in this location) the tables were a buzz kill and I felt bad standing up front and watching the band. I spent most of the sets worried I was blocking somebody’s view. Moving on to sound, the PA is inadequate for the room. The venue doesn’t exactly have a soundboard, but instead feeds its wires into a computer running a mixing program. The«engineer» did his best, but it got to the point where the bands just kind of looked at each other and then turned their amps up as loud as they could to help those in back. Don’t get me wrong, I did have a good time, but if I’m out seeing some bands this venue isn’t one that I can currently take seriously.

I love that the owner Jeff gave himself the best possible review. Even wrote it as if he was not the owner. What a slap hole!

Hope you aren’t looking for any service. Bartender made eye contact with me 3 times since walking in. Only 7 customers. A beer has taken 12 minutes to get since I walked in. Wings were past juicy, they were wet. How does that happen?

Redneck bar for sure. If you’re a redneck then I’m sorry, but it’s not my gig. They looked at me like I was crazy when I didn’t want a Budweiser. They nachos were pretty good.
