Fried chicken’s crust is crunchy but that’s where it ends. Chicken is tasteless, the crust is tasteless, the green bean is tasteless, mash potatoes is tasteless… And even the biscuits are tasteless. My son is a big fan of fried chicken, and he was done after the first serving. It’s expensive for what you get from a meal.

Enjoyed a delicious and satisfying breakfast here. We were warmly greeted and seated without waiting at 830 on a Sunday morning. The dining area was clean and tidy. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and always kept the waters and coffees filled. The breakfast selection was a hearty and generous selection of waffles, biscuits, and pancakes prepared with premium sides and toppings. We loved the Breakfast Sliders and Fried Chicken/Waffle combo. I heartily recommend for anyone hungry for a big breakfast experience.

Took the parental units to RC’S for the famous fried chicken for lunch today. We started with fried gizzards. They were crispy with good flavor but a bit tough. I know, I know… what do you expect from gizzards? But with RC’s reputation I was expecting the BEST! And I’ve had better, MUCH more tender gizzards(like Go Chicken Go gizzards) We all had their soup of the day, french onion. It was average. Now for the Main Event: I had chicken fried chicken & they did the regular pan fried version. Both were EXCELLENT! So were the biscuits & chicken gravy. The other sides were good & obviously home made(mashed taters & green beans) We finished with the cobbler: blackberry & peach. Both were good, but hard to tell if the filling & crust was home made or out of a can/frozen & doctored up. We asked a server & he didn’t know either, lol Overall, some of the BEST fried chicken we’ve had anywhere. But its a pick’em between their chicken and Corner Café. Both are slightly better then Strouds. Everything else was good to average. Service was average, lots of young Diner level servers. But everyone was very nice & very quick to get anything we asked them for! Portions were HUGE! We will be back!

A club I belong to heads out to area restaurants once a month to socialize and dine. Since someone suggested RC’s it struck me that i had not been there in many years(life long«Stroud’s» fan). Setting up the reservations(yes, they do take reservations), I had expected about a dozen to show up. Imagine my surprise when at least 22 made it for a New Year’s Day lunch! Unfrazzled, the staff quickly moved tables and chairs around to accommodate our group. A single waitress took our orders efficiently, and with the help of a couple of others, effectively served our meals! A single appetizer was missed, but quickly rectified. Pretty impressive service. Most everyone ordered one of the fried chicken menu items, but there were a couple of «chicken fried steak» and breakfast orders to round things out. My chicken was tender, moist, flavorful, and evenly breaded — a winner. The mashed potatoes and gravy were first rate, the green beans very good, and the biscuits light and tasty. Back to the service, all the meals were served within 5 minutes of each other. Nobody noted any«cold» or dried out items, nor were there any«mix ups» of orders. Quite a feat! Like I said, I have been a life long Stroud’s fan and have to rate RC’s chicken as good or better then Stroud’s. I did not try their steaks(a well kept secret at Strouds’), so cannot comment. About the only weakness might have been the lack of cinnamon rolls! Prices were very affordable. Did I really enjoy the chicken? Well, I did order another fried chicken meal to take home for later.

First time here. Came for lunch on New Year’s Day. Good fore kids. I had chicken and waffles along with boulevard tank 7. Over ally it was good chicken and comparable to other local spots such as Strouds.

Visited this place on a Saturday evening. The food is OK, main serving is fried chicken. Most of the customers were age 65 and over. The interior of the building looks like it hasn’t been remodeled in 40 years. Service was good and the staff friendly. Would not go back.

LOVE it here!!! Visited for the first time in 2014 and have loved it ever since! The fried chicken is amazing!!! The chicken definitely more flavorful than Stroud’s and cheaper! They have lunch specials from 11am-3pm — Monday through Saturday and great staff! I usually get the everyday special! Tasty!

I went here with a group of 20. I’ve been to restaurants with large groups before and it often seems to fall apart, but I was happy to be getting some famous fried chicken in Kansas City and my boyfriend’s mom chose this place so here we were. The server greeted us quickly and took our drink orders. We let her know someone in our party had to leave early so if his meal could get put in right away that we would appreciate it. Well, his meal did come out quickly. The other 19 came out shortly after – the meals were played and the sides were family style. I had the chicken and waffles and Chris had the half a chicken. Everything was delicious… I ate way more than I expected to Anyway, great visit, great service, delicious food! Definitely not healthy but I loved it!

My husband and I stopped in here to have a late breakfast. The restaurant wasn’t busy and we were able to watch Pope Francis on two televisions. Unfortunately, neither of them had the volume on, but it was still delightful to just see the Pope in action. We both order the daily special which consisted on a waffle, two eggs and a meat of your choice. My husband choose ham and ordered the sausage patty. I thought it was one patty, but it turned out to be two hand formed patties which had a wonderful taste and flavor. Would definitely order them again. Neither of us could finish the waffles and will probably split a waffle the next time we come. A couple at the next table ordered one breakfast entrée and split it. When their entrée arrived I knew immediately why they only ordered one. The waffle was light and tasteful so the star of the meal was the meat. The ham was thick and cooked perfectly and, as stated earlier, my sausage patties will definitely be ordered again when I return. The lady(name not gotten) was the only waitress for the room, but provided excellent service. The menu is varied enough for the picky eaters and the prices are more than reasonable. Will return again, but will probably order al la carte to ensure that we can eat our entire meal. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by for their breakfast. We have eaten here for lunch and dinner and always left pleased with the food and table service.

Arrived 35 min before closing. From experience working in the restaurant industry, I know it can make for a bad experience. My experience was exceptional. Service was prompt and server was very attentive. The food was the best chicken I’ve had in KC. Great flavor in the chicken. Cottage fries was hot and cooked perfectly. Gravy and biscuits was just delicious. I’m very impressed and will be a repeat customer. Price was more reasonable than the other chicken place in KC and in my opinion much better. Way to go RC’s.

The food was awesome, Mark made sure we were satisfied every minute we spent there. You definitely will not leave hungry. Excellent food and service is on the menu when you arrive at RC’s. My family was delighted to be there, it was a wonderful environment with smiles on everyone’s faces that passed us by. We will be back!

Not worth going out of your way. We were a party of 7. I had grilled chicken. Rubbery and tough. The cottage fries were over cooked. It was not there strength. Others had fried chicken. They said it was better than mine. The fries were not over cooked. I will not make a special trip. There are too many places, that is better to repeat that meal.

When you get your food before your drinks, and then you have to tell them what your drinks were in the first place, you have a problem. After waiting 10 minutes to order at the table with no service, I had to order at the bar. This was one of the reasons for the confusion amongst the employees there. The bartender doesn’t know how to make a drink without spilling a lot of it. The patrons include people bringing in their own guitars and tambourines, which wind up driving away people from their patio. If it weren’t for the poker players this would be a dead bar. Because it is so slow there is no excuse to the amount of problems this bar has aside from laziness and a lack of management. I officially have switched bars and now boycott RC’s.

I’ve been a huge Stroud’s fan for years; it’s pretty much the only place I think of when I think fried chicken. RC’s may just have supplanted it. It was really among the best fried chicken I’ve ever had — moist, juicy and crispy. Even the breast, which can sometimes get dry, and even the next day. Everything was delicious. The sides were fine: nothing special, but still good. The service was also just fine. It’s the chicken that’s the star — or four stars — of the show here.

I cannot wait to review place so I only visited this place once. Being a southern girl in the midwest, I feel very at home at this place. My husband and I went here for Saturday brunch. From the outside of the building, we did not expect the inside décor. It is very 80s italian restaurant decoration, which we love. Reason for not giving 5 stars, we did stand there with no one sitting us for 10 minutes and hearing some rude waitress offer bad service to other tables. Even though the restaurant was pretty slow for weekly brunch hour. Let’s move onto the food, I think for a fried chicken place the brunch menu is pretty impressive. Food: My husband ordered the steak and eggs and I had the chicken and waffles. OMG, it was great. The steak was super tendered and smothered in breakfast white gravy. Unlike the other reviews, the breakfast potatoes were GREAT(not greasy, perfectly cooked and crispy outside/soft inside). The portions are great, big enough for a man and bites I stole. For the chicken and waffles, you had a choice of breast, leg, thigh, or 3 wings. Being a southern traditionalist, I picked the 3 wings option. The waffles were fluffy and smothered in whipped butter. YUM! The fried wings were super crispy but not overly breaded. The meat was moist and flavored. YUM! Overall experience: Our waitress was very nice and paid lots of attention to us. The food is great but if you are on a diet/healthy eater, please do not go there and complain about how greasy the food is. This place offers big portion and hearty food. I LOVEIT! You guys will be seeing us more often.

One of the Martin City trifecta(along with Jess & Jim’s and the original Jack Stack) — the Guy sometimes likes to hop in the car, drive south to MC, and then see which parking lot is the least full to decide on dinner. The pan-fried chicken is wonderful, tender and flavorful. I’ve had some pretty good beef dishes here too, including a meatloaf combo that was better than my grandma used to make. It’s all homestyle comfort food, not exactly low-fat fare, although the salads are surprisingly good if you want to try to stick to healthier stuff. Service is quite friendly & cheerful. We like to sit in the bar & eat when there’s a game on the teevee… it’s quite roomy, but can get a bit boisterous.

Late Saturday night dinner. A huge amount of food and all was good. White meat fries chicken plate was awesome — fresh, hot, perfect amount of seasoning and crispy crust. Also served with salad, biscuit, green beans, gravy and a loaded baked potato. Not realizing how much was already coming with it, we ordered a waffle on the side that was the right amount of sweet. The pork tenderloin sandwich was enormous, seasoning was a little lacking but not bad. Tons of leftovers to take home. We sat in the lounge/bar side. The TVs let my husband watch March Madness. The music from the Back Door Lounge a floor above was a little distracting. Overall, we will be back for fried chicken.

I came here a week ago with my coworkers(it was a birthday lunch outing) and I have to say that it left a great deal to be desired. Let’s start with the food… we ordered the southwest egg rolls for our appetizer… honestly out of the entire meal(service included) this was the best thing we had. Which isn’t saying all that much considering that I’ve had much better at the likes of Cheesecake Factory. Anyway I ordered the boneless buffalo wings… and while there was copious amounts of buffalo sauce… overall I’ve had better. The mashed potatoes that I snitched off a coworker’s plate… needed buffalo sauce for it to really have any decent kick. I didn’t even want to try the green beans… they looked mushy and awful. The service… was just awful. Everything came out slow and I didn’t feel that we were taken care of. Granted we were also seated in the bar and it looked like they hadn’t been open for lunch for too long… or rather they weren’t prepared for the lunch service. Fairly certain I won’t be back anytime soon. I realize this isn’t as in depth as some of my reviews… but I don’t really want to say more.
