I went here for lunch with my nephew who enjoys food about as much as I do. I’m really happy I get to go out to eat with him when I’m in town. He suggested Martin City Brewing Company and I said, «O.K.» I got the a little early and noticed that parking is a bit of a premium for this business. I entered the pub area and selected a hightop table to wait. The service was fast and I had my drink within a minute of sitting down. I looked over the menu and decided I would try the Cowboy Mac and Cheese. This mean lunch item is mac and cheese covered with diced tomatoes, jalapeños, pulled pork and Burnt Finger BBQ. The meal came out and I was gruntled to see the sight… you can see the sight in the picture. The food was good. I have never had a Mac and Cheese meal like this where things are all mixed together. It has given me new ideas for dinners at home. Thanks Martin City Brewing Company.

Perfect meal! Our server Raychel was so sweet and gave us great service. The best find in Martin City! Excellent pizza and awesome beer! Belgian Rye Blonde was perfect with the Wild Mushroom beer, we will definitely be back.

I love this place! We work down the street and eat there often. They have great beers and fantastic food. I almost always order something different and have never been disappointed! Outdoor seating area is very nice as well.

I was visiting some dear friends and wanted to take them out for a meal and they asked to come here. They have a great outdoor patio and a menu that is more«gastropub» than«bar out in the middle of nowhere.»(Yes, I know 135th Street isn’t exactly nowhere, but it is off the beaten path). Great food and friendly service. Will definitely come again if I’m there — especially for those meatballs!

This review is for the Tap side only. I call it an «artisan» pizza place. Unique toppings, great dough, and each table has a bottle of red pepper oil to drizzle! Not a huge fan of their beer. I’ve had several varieties, and only found one that I really enjoyed(Abbey). Cool, modern atmosphere. I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite pizza, but I like the Bacon & Egg, Espana, and the Black & Bleu.

I have been to this restaurant many times and am always disappointed. The service is less than par. When I walked in they seemed very confused a flustered about sitting my group of 5. We waited for some time but that’s not the problem. It took 10 minutes just to get our drink order. When the server come out with the beer he spilled half of it then have it to us anyway and charged us full price. We got here at noon and it’s 1:15 and we still do not have food. I have had several similar experiences here. The food is good when it finally comes but I do not recommend this place under any circumstances. It is way too loud and the tables are small.

We usually have a great time here but tonight was not at all enjoyable. The menu was limited for Snake Saturday or some kind of Irish event. It would have been nice to have your real menu as well. It was also a little disappointing we couldn’t choose the temperature of our burgers. Some of the staff were apparently off-duty and drinking and shouting profanities heavily in their work shirts at the bar. Normally, we are laid back and wouldn’t care but they were being extremely loud and disrupting everyone else’s conversations. On top of that, the music was very loud so folks could not have conversation. We love MCB but tonight was a downer. We’d suggest making your staff more responsible with drinking and try to make them understand other people are also trying to enjoy their experience.

1. They finally have their own beer, and their coffee stout is freaking fantastic, an overall hidden gem of a brewery in the KC area. 2. Their burger has always, always been damn good. It’s one of my favorite in KC. 3. The pizza place they opened up next door(I’m assuming its the same location for Unilocal, but I’m too lazy to look) is small, but their pizza was like… amazingly good. I had the Bacon and Eggs and damn it was good. 4. The only complaint I have is the place is small as hell. I came with a group of 7 of us with a reservation and they couldn’t seat us properly due to two more larger parties. We stuffed ourselves in a table. No big deal, and not entirely sure what else they could have done. but just know that if you go here with a large group and there are like…3 other large groups, you might be waiting. 5. Eat the Risotto Balls. Eat them all the time, every time.

I want to love Martin City Brewing Company, being in love with Kansas City’s booming beer culture, but I can’t help but be a little disappointed. We’ve been to the restaurant twice, and tried the beer again at a local beer festival. First, the food. It’s your typical American pub fare, with a slight nudge in the gastropub direction. Many recipes incorporate their own beer, which is a plus. They also offer pizzas, having a restaurant for pizza and one for pub food, though you can order both at either one oddly. Their pizza toppings border on the gourmet specialty pizza side, which goes well with the beer selection. Second, the beer. Their beer is good, but in Kansas City today that’s not really saying much. If I want good beer, there are any number of places to go, many with their own special niche. MCBC doesn’t really have a niche, going for a wide variety of beers for a good selection. They do a good job at this, but in my experience I haven’t found one that I was attached to, a beer that makes me want to come back just to try it again. They’re all good beers, but none stand out as the best of Kansas City for their style. Third, and the largest component of my score, is service. The food and beer are both good here, if not quite five stars worthy, but the service greatly diminishes that. Both times we went at off times when they weren’t busy, and both times it took them forever to get our food and drinks to us, we barely ever saw our server to get another drink(a key component of any place whose beer is their major selling point), and the staff messed up our orders both times. The second time, our server was talking to another server almost the whole time, as our food took an unforgivable amount of time to arrive and our glasses sat empty. I want to like MCBC, but unless they get their service right, I feel much more welcome and appreciated at any of the other great brewpubs popping up across the metro.

Great feel for a smallish two level establishment. Creative tables, TV’s around if there is a game on. Friendly staff, semi basic menu but extremely well executed. I had the Buffalo Burger and upgraded my side to their acclaimed mac’n cheese, an excellent choice. Burger was thick but still juicy, buffalo sauce and blue cheese were complimentary not overwhelming. Grilled onions were also nice add, Great selection of beers outside the mainstream. Couple Boulevards but not ones I had heard of. A number of interesting options. This place has the feel of the new foodie pubs in Westport, but thankfully an option for those further south.

This place was fun. Great service and great food. We went early on Friday night and were not disappointed. Got a great table in front and got to watch the sun set. It was one of the FEW incredibly nice evenings to sit outdoors and we enjoyed every minute of it. The food was great macaroni and cheese delightful, I had the we both had sandwiches. They were really yummy and the beer, service and atmosphere rounded out the relaxing vibe.

You know a place has something good to offer when you find yourself becoming a regular there even though you live on the opposite side of town. That’s the story with me and Martin City Pub. We originally heard about this place from friends who raved to us about the food — especially the mac n cheese. If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know that I share that enthusiasm about their food. But I’ve absolutely come to enjoy the pub’s atmosphere, and love their small but high quality draft beer selection. Specifically what keeps me coming back is their 2 Rare 2’s Days, in which they tap two«rare» beers every week on Tuesday. These are seriously good beers from all over the US, many of which are typically only available once a year — and priced very reasonably! Well worth the drive if you ask me!

Once again, so impressed here. The place was so crowded there was nowhere to sit except outside where it was quite cold. My beautiful waitress didn’t mind and I had everything I needed in several minutes. I ordered the pan seared steak and it was truly phenomenal. Great price for a wonderfully cooked and flavored meal. I seriously can’t commend my waitress enough. I don’t think she was even covering outside but when I asked her if there was any seating and told her I would be sitting out there, she didn’t hesitate to make sure I was doing well. Love coming to Martin City.

My husband and I love coming to MCBC. We have been for both lunch and dinner and have always had a good experience. We have tried several items from their menu and have never been disappointed. I would especially recommend their Mac and cheese and burgers. They have good portions and are very consistent. Don’t overlook their specials either. A while back I had a special that included a deliciously prepared fish and Brussels sprouts that were killer. I also have to say that their beer selection is always on point. Not huge, but with enough variety and interesting choices that there is always a perfect option to fit your mood. This includes some of Boulevard’s special releases(chocolate ale) and several of their own great in house beers. I have to compliment the service as well. Friendly servers who don’t bother you too much but still make sure you are taken care of. On one particularly busy night when we went to watch a Sporting KC game we sat at the bar and even amongst the rush we still had a good experience. It’s a great place to watch a game if you can’t make it out to Sporting Park but is not to be overlooked for a great casual night out any other day of the week as well.

I absolutely love both locations. I haven’t eaten at this spot yet just the Pizza Tap room but I plan to try the food here in the future and update accordingly. First word of advice is get here Tuesday night. I don’t care how far you have to drive. I make a 30 minute commute for their Rare Beer Tapping. Last time I was here I got to try Perennials Abraxas and I can say without a doubt it was one of my favorite beers. Martin City Brewing also has amazing beer too! So don’t pass it up! They have a wide range of beers from light to dark that fits everyone’s preferences. The bartender was very helpful the last time we were here. She spoke to us about the different beers on tap, and a few of the specialty bottles of liquor they keep. One was a Roasterie Vodka which I hadn’t seen before. They had a lot of other options as well and I would love to go back and see some of the cocktails they can make with them. One of my favorite things about this establishment was their restroom set up, you went into the restroom as you would normally but the sink is on the outside of the door in the hallway. This keeps you from having to open a potentially dirty door after you washed your hands. Sure you still have to shut off the faucet but in my mind it was a brilliant move on their part. Kudos to you Martin City Brewing for setting a high standard in not only beer but cleanliness!

A nice little mailer offering a free appetizer showed up at my door, and before long I showed up at their door. A friend had told me this place makes a fantastic Reuben sandwich so it was a breeze to get the husband to agree to give it a try. The appetizer we chose was the fried mozzarella. The bits were so small and easily half had exploded in the fryer(all the cheese leaked out!) which left us a basket filled with some cheesy bites but mostly empty shells to munch on. Boo. 1 star. My «we built this city» burger was pretty decent. Grilled onions and mushrooms could make shoe leather amazing though! My medium rare patty was cooked just right and was juicy and well seasoned. 3 stars. Sadly, the accompanying fries were sub-par and tasted of burnt oil. Husband liked his Rueben. 4 stars. The swirled rye bread was beautiful and thick sliced. The sandwich itself was big and juicy with plenty of kraut & dressing. I can see this place being more fun coming with a group, watching a game and downing some beers.
