Did a Saturday morning breakfast while out on a bike ride. Service was exceptional and food was great. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today. The first thing that struck me was the diner feel-a little different from typical Greek places, but clean and well lit. The cashier is a colorful older woman. We ordered traditional gyros-I had fries as a side, my husband feta pasta. The food was pretty good. The taziki sauce is really tasty and the side of fries was perfectly crunchy!

Average Gyro, walked in for a take out and the women asked if I had just called and ordered a gyro, i said yes, she screams«don’t worry we haven’t forgot about you», not that I was worried since I just called 5 minutes before. It was okay for a gyro but I’ve had far better.

I am NEVER dissatisfied with the quality of the food(DELICIOUS!) or the great service(always given with a smile and kindness). Jimmy is an authentic Greek owner with fresh recipes, many choices and reasonable prices! If you wear blue on Mondays, you get a free desert! I’ve always been happy with my meals from Never On Sunday and they’re a quicker, tastier and less expensive option than other restaurants in the area offering authentic Greek food. Kim is great fun taking and serving your order! I highly recommend that you try them!

Bought a couple Dealsaver coupons and tried the restaurant for the first time with my wife. A Greek lady waiting on her order recommended the combo platters so we ordered two with lamb. Waited 20 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant. When our food came it wasn’t what we ordered. Was lamb souvlaki. No dolmades, no tiropita, no spanakopita. We were bummed but just rolled with it. The lamb was well seasoned, the rice too. Unspectacular salad. Nice fresh, soft pita bread. We’ve got two more coupons. If they swing and miss next time I’ll be sending it back to the kitchen.

Excellent alternative to places like Tasso’s that charges an arm and a leg… for in several instances mediocre Greek varieties. I’ve eaten in Greek establishments all over the US, Canada and Europe… Never on a Sunday is reminiscent of my day’s dining out in Chicago’s Greek Town. It’s got that neighborhood appeal. Try their Spanakopita and Tiropitakia pastries that Jimmy the proprietor makes daily. 3 for $ 4.95 is a real deal for the quality and portion size. And incidentally, no Greek restaurant is complete without Galaktoboureko custard dessert. The only shortcoming is their are limited entrees like Greek Moussaka. Other than that, a diamond in the rough so to speak. If you’ve had decent Greek, you will not be disappointed. Opa!

I needed a quick bite to eat in between appointments. This restaurant is located in a shopping center so, there were a few options available but, I settled for Greek food. Who doesn’t like Greek food, right?! At the time, they had 3.5 stars so, I decided to give them a try. I ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat. There were a few customers dining in but, I took my meal to go. It hit the spot and that’s pretty much it. I’m not sure if it was the salad or gyro meat but, I had some really bad gas afterwards. It could have been the gyro. It was a little suspect. I know, TMI lol but, hey you came here to read reviews and that’s what I experienced! I feel like the portion was pretty small too. More so the salad.

Since the large greek restaurant in Olathe closed a few years ago, my heart has been aching for spanakopita, domades, and galaktoboureko! My friend invited me to Never On Sunday and my soul is happy again! I ordered the combo appetizer, a gyro salad, and of course my favorite galaktoboureko. Everything was spectacular and on par with everything my heart desired. This was more than I could eat alone and I shared my meal with my friend and sent some home to her family. This restaurant is fast-food style with lots of people ordering carry out meals. It is priced that way as well and the food is worth every dime. There are places to sit and the staff will serve you at the tables. It is still carry out style on foam plates and plastic ware. Makes taking home the leftovers easy! Also makes it a «come as you are» kind of place. The owners make you feel like family and that’s the Greek way. WELLDONE!

I could have swore I reviewed this place. Sadly, its not that great. For the most part, my experience was tarnished by the staff working. Conversations were not appropriate. Smoking right in front of the door. It annoys me enough when customers do this, employees should respect non-smokers and move away from the doors. Food was dismal. No where near the quality as other Greek style places in the metro.

I’m a little surprised with this place… I’ve never been teased/made fun of so much by people that don’t know me. Definitely not the best first impression I’d like to have by a restaurant. I ordered the gyro and pasta salad. The pasta salad was excellent, nice flavor. The gyro was hard and dry. I had to pile on the white sauce(which was good) to make it better. I may give them another try and expect to be razzed… just definitely wasn’t expecting that type of environment.

I came here in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve. I’ve passed by this place many times and have been wanting to try it, despite the not-so-stellar reviews. Unfortunately, it was not very good. I walked in, and was loudly greeted right away. I ordered the Souvlaki platter with chicken, which is a kebob grilled on rice with a greek salad and pita bread. I waited for my order, which was ready pretty quickly. Like other reviewers have said, I heard the microwave beep as I was waiting, indicating that one(or more) items in my meal were re-heated. I drove home a few miles down the road and opened my meal. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but everything else was downhill from there. The rice was severely overcooked and tasteless. The greek salad was lame — iceberg lettuce with a few olives and a small amount of feta cheese. The pita bread was fine. I did not finish the rice because it was so overdone. It did come with some dressing and tzatziki sauce, which both were not bad. I really wish it came with some hummus for the pita bread. I wish this place was better because it is so close to where I live, but unfortunately it was not good. I have had much better Greek food, and would rather drive 10 more minutes to go get it. I will not be returning.

We’ve been meaning to go to this restaurant ever since we saw it opening. Yes, it took us this long. However, when tonight’s dinner plans got derailed, we decided to give it a try. I have not been this impressed with any other Greek restaurant in the KC area. Until now, Olive Café had been our go to(and there are still some things that location offers that this restaurant doesn’t have. So, they aren’t completely out of our rotation.). Never on Sunday is now our to to place for Greek standards. I arrived a minute before they closed, as I was not aware of the 8:00 close time. The lady who met me(I believe the manager) said they’d be happy to take my order if I wanted it to go. That was my plan, anyway, so that worked out. The menu contains all the expected cast and I ordered a chicken souvlaki plate for my wife and a gyro sandwich for me. I rounded out the order with a piece of chocolate baklava and a nut roll for us to try. Imagine my surprise when they rang up my total — less than 20 bucks! There was about a 5 minute wait for my food. During this time the staff engaged me in conversation that was friendly, humorous and comfortable. The same style and feeling of conversation that you might have with your family or long time friends. The food was delivered and I made the trek home. Now, about the food: The chicken souvlaki plate is outstanding. The chicken is grilled to perfection, full of flavor and some of the juiciest of it’s kind that I’ve had. Ever. The Greek salad was crisp, littered with huge chunks of a lightly salted feta and served with a side of dressing that was the perfect balance of acid, oil, and spices. The rice was perfectly cooked and fluffy. The gyro is huge! I was tempted to weigh it, but that would have delayed my indulgence. The balance of spice in the lamb/beef meat is a bit more garlicky than I’m used to from other gyros than I’ve had. And that’s a good thing. The meat actually drips. It’s that juicy(not fatty. juicy). The accompanying tzatziki is thick, refreshing and a perfect counter-balance to the richness of the meat. Oh, and the feta pasta salad is very good, too. However, I couldn’t eat more than a bite. Considering the location(5 minutes from my house), the price, the people and the food I have to put this restaurant on the«dangerous» list. I can see myself spending many nights on a run down here. I’d review my desserts, but I’m… just… too… full…

I just found my new favorite! The chicken gyro was perfect, and the crisp salad was very satisfying. My table mates opted for the traditional gyro and raved about it as well. Prices are very reasonable. The location is a little peculiar, next door to a tattoo parlor in what appears to be a dying strip mall, but don’t let that dissuade you from giving this place a chance. The ambiance is casual and clean, with theme appropriate music lightly playing in the background. I’ll happily make the 20 minute trip to eat here again.

Yikes… it’s been a month since I first started(or rather attempted to start) my review! That is not good! Well better late the never… lets get started. I was quite surprised with this little restaurant. I’d heard about it from my boyfriend but we’d never taken the time to drive out to KCMO on the weekends to try it. So it was serendipitous that we decided to have lunch with a our friends during the work week and decided to come here as it was relatively close to our workplace. The service was great — the staff was incredibly friendly(and hilarious)! And now to the food… I really can’t say anything regarding what goes on behind the counter — I was too busy catching up with our friends that we don’t see very often anymore. My boyfriend and I both ordered the gyro sandwich special with the Greek salad. Trying to eat healthier in general means we keep our orders fairly simple. But keeping it simple doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy good food; and boy was our simple lunch delicious! What made the experience much more fun was that the owner came out to see how we were doing. Definitely willing to come back — would probably be here more often if it was closer to home.

We LOVELOVELOVE this place. The staff is very welcoming and we are always impressed by the delicious gyros and friendliness. Their fries are the best in Kansas City, hands down! The only down side to this place is that they do, indeed, microwave. That doesn’t bother me, since I rarely get the spanakopita or tripita(which I think still have pretty good flavor). Their dolmades are so delicious it doesn’t matter how they’re reheated. The only thing on the menu we aren’t fans of is the hummus. It’s obviously pre-made and doesn’t have much flavor. Otherwise, we eat here at least 3 times a month. Also, they have started serving Gomer’s breakfast in the mornings at 7 and let me just say the biscuits and gravy are to die for.
