First Watch

I went here because an old neighbor was passing thru from Omaha and wanted to have breakfast. I recently say the Unilocal newsletter about breakfast places and First Watch was mentioned. I must say, I really enjoyed atmosphere of this establishment. Very relaxed vibe and unique menu with a great variety of healthy meal choices. I love that they support local produce and meats.
I had the Chickichanga… it was light for me to eat in the morning… enough chicken and chorizo… I am not a fan of huge breakfasts so this was just right… the fresh fruit medley was spot on… extremely fresh and juicy… magnificent!
I’m a fan… I work less than 2 miles from here… you will see me often! Thanks a million for your super service and awesome food!

I’ve been coming to First Watch for years and I have never been disappointed. By far one of the best places you can go for brunch in Kansas City. Everything is so fresh and the service is so friendly.
I recommend the fruity chicken or breakfast scramble. Everything on the menu is so fresh and light, but most importantly filling!
I feel like first watch is a place to indulge without the guilt!

Great service! Food was goid, had eggs benidict but the eggs were over cooked and hollandaise had no flavor. Cheddar, bacon pancakes were awesome! Thanks fir a good experience.

First Watch is a great breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot. Everything is delicious and fresh. The service is great and be food is delicious. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the Traditional Breakfast is my favorite.

I came here based on previous Unilocalers. This place is delicious! Had the chaliquas and I’m stuffed! Very clean, open, and very friendly wait staff. Thank you for an awesome meal!

Simply amazing! I was so impressed the the service, the atmosphere, the clientele, and the fooood! It felt like clean, hearty, and healthy food. I would love to go everyday!

Amazing honey dijon, pecan salad for lunch. Friendly service, sat at the community table in the front which worked out great. I’ll be back later this week, nice place.

This particular location completely knocked my socks off! The staff was on point, courteous and quick with the orders. The food even seemed to taste better here — The one in Lawrence has some serious catching up to do!

Solid coffee, breakfast staples and friendly service keeps me coming back. While I’ve never had bad food here, and with the new contemporary interior and added menu items, First Watch is keeping pace with the times. The server this recent time was quite busy, so refills were hard to come by. The food was fast, hot and fresh. Enjoyed the Greek Fetish omelette ($ 8.75), only downside is the canned black olives that accompany. The organic hot tea selection is nice.

A great place for breakfast. The menu has breakfast classics and healthy alternatives. Everything is fresh and they boost locally grown ingredients. The atmosphere is hip and modern.

This is the only location I will go to, just because everyone is so nice and polite. It’s a longer drive for me than the Westport location, but the Armour location is far far better. Better food and much better attitudes at Armour!
The last few times I’ve been in, Kai has been my waitress and she is just phenomenal. Always smiling and has such a great attitude, even when they’re packed. I hope First Watch recognizes what an asset she is to their restaurant! The food is something I grew up with and, while it’s not a snobby brunchy sort of menu, everything I’ve had has been good.

I’ve always wanted to check this place out & today I finally did. It was a very comfortable/​simple place & the food was good. Better than I have expected. If you are working on your eating habits, this is a great place to start for breakfast. The waitresses are lovely & super fast btw.

First impression was good, a cute atmosphere. I ordered the Eggs Benedict florentine. It came cold & there was nothing at all special about the sauce… Very disappointing. The fruit cup had flavorless, crunchy cantaloupe & a few grapes. The potatoes & coffee however were good… I had to request half & half as they offer the little plastic creamer cups which I don’t do. I can’t recommend this place.

I am like John Pinnette. I must have coffee. Sometimes you need a really good breakfast to go with that cup of coffee. First Watch is definitely the morning ticket in Northtown. I usually start with a Kale Tonic smoothie (YUM!) followed by coffee and a Works omelette. The service is freaky fast, friendly, and on point. This place does an insane amount of volume on the weekends so go early or be prepared to wait.
One of the nice innovations in the place is a table that anyone can sit at if they don’t want to wait for a full on table. Great for lone diners and the odd jogger/​biker who may get the munchies while out and about. The rest of the atmosphere is very urban casual, clean and fresh. Honestly, I am surprised how well kept the place is given the traffic level.
This has become my go to weekend breakfast stop.

I was highly disappointed in this establishment during the breakfast hours. The service was lacking and the food was much to be desired. With that being said, I did enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. It has been recently renovated and the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. It was painted with cool colors and it had an industrial/​modern feel.
The issues that my family and I had with the restaurant started with the service. I understand that many of us have off days, but our waitress appeared despondent and preoccupied while taking our orders.
I ordered the Bubbas Benny, which consisted of homemade biscuits topped with eggs to order (over medium), a sausage patty and gravy. My 6 year old, who is super finicky, had the kids meal eggs (scrambled) and sausage. My 3 year old, who will eat just about anything, had the chocolate chip pancake.
Once our food arrived, I quickly noticed that my 6 year old son’s eggs was a fried egg that had been chopped up. I told the waitress the eggs were not scrambled and she replied in a monotone voice, «That’s how we make them.» Thankfully, my son ate them. My waitress then walked away.
Soon after I noticed my 3 year old’s pancake was burned. He really seemed to enjoy it though and began to devour it as my wife began to cut it up.
My breakfast had a couple issues. The egg on top was fried and over cooked. The sausage patty on top of the biscuit was dry and burned. Despite the over cooked proteins, the gravy was very tasty and the biscuit was soft and buttery.
I soon decided to send the breakfast back to have it remade. I flagged down the waitress, and she quickly resubmitted my order, or so I thought. After about 20 min or so, my wife and children were done and I was still without food. I did not see or hear from the waitress during that time, giving me a status on my food. I then decided to leave my table, hunt my waitress down and get our check.
Its doubtful I will return to this establishment.

They recently redid the interior and it’s absolutely adorable.
The service is great, offering coffee and water as soon as you are seated. Everything I have ordered from here I’ve loved.
Most recently I’ve tried their summer breakfast tacos which are amazing. I thought the chicken and chorizo would be weird but it was a great combo.
The only thing I miss is a mimosa option but despite that, this breakfast spot is fantastic.

I love this place! The new remodel is absolutely beautiful, clean, & chic. I went for my first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The food selection is wonderful & everything looked so good it was hard deciding on what to get. I plan on going back and trying various things off the menu.
I had Ashton as my waitress and she was so courteous and nice. I definitely want to recognize her because she took care of me and socialized with me, making my experience more enjoyable.
The service I had was great. And I love that they bring you a little jug of water (and a pot of coffee, since I ordered it) to your table so you can refill at your own pace. It gives you time to yourself or with your company, without having the staff constantly coming by to ask you for a refill. And the selection of creamer at the table is really great for any coffee lover.
I ordered the Monty Crisco Sandwich. It was made to perfection. The cheese was melted just right and the bread was hot & moist without being soggy (french toast bread & all). Even the presentation was lovely. The salad/​greens on the side was really good as well. The dressing made it delicious. I would definitely recommend this sandwich because it’s sweet & savory, and not any ordinary sandwich.
Overall, this place really did it for me. It has such a refreshing feel you can’t find just anywhere in KC. You have to swing by and see it for yourself!

First Watch chain is one of the best places to have a brunch in Kansas City area. Food quality is ⁵⁄₅. Locations, ambience and service are all great!
Be careful of the size of the pancake. It’s huge and so tasty.

First watch is looking to reinvent it’s look. Gone is the old tired dinner look, and in is the contemporary farm look. With a much improved parking lot, upon entering I was in shock, the look is so different than when I was last here. But by the crowd, they don’t just get a first watch, but a second, third and fourth visit.
Great menu mixes healthy, and healthy with lots of extra calories, that’s the way I see it. Some funky spinach, kale, juice combinations didn’t make my order, but I’m sure it was a lot healthier than my trifecta, of eggs, bacon and waffle. Food was really good but I had a funny moment, looking for the syrup, I found none. I asked the server, she told me it was in front of me… well I thought it was olive oil, but I found warm syrup in a tip bottle, and the waffle was gone in a matter of moments…
Give first watch a try, with a new décor and proven grub, first watch should be on everyone’s breakfast radar.

Working just a block over, I eat here probably once a week on average. First things first, the wait can be long & parking short but the staff is always smiling and the food satisfying. What could be better?! I love seeing staff that is happy; it makes a huge difference.
I’ve had just about everything but a few of my favorites are the power wrap, chickichanga, Acapulco express omelet (with egg whites – no substitution charge!), and of COURSE the biscuits & turkey sausage. I’m more of a savory than sweet person and haven’t tried any of the sweeter treats likes french toast or pancakes but they always look divine. I would consider the prize of First Watch to be their seasoned potatoes. They are the perfect little carb puffs of gratifying joy!
