Jose Cuervo’s Tequileria

Too bad there’s only a few places to choose from at this airport. When you walk in, hear the wait staff telling the customers NOT to order several menu items, I wonder why the hell I stayed?! Oh yea, not many options. The carnitas tacos were mediocre, I was instructed to get them «American style» or they would be a soggy mess, wtf?! They came a moldy soggy mess in corn tortillas. Beer was cold, lime had little juice and other then pleasant staff, stay away.

Was really hoping for more here as the options at this airport are very limited. My server was friendly, so that’s a plus. I ordered a glass of wine, and being a tired and hungry traveler, didn’t pay much attention to the menu. My server asked me if I wanted the 9oz. Pour and assuming it was the smaller portion (I know, i know I should have checked the menu) said ok. After I heard the lady next to me order a 6oz. Pour, I checked the menu and realized I just ordered a $ 15 glass of wine. At least it was a good Sauv Blanc and chilled perfectly. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, figuring cheese and chicken is hard to mess up… Well again, shame on me for assuming. It was bland, bland, bland. There was no seasoning (even S&P) on the chicken, and I couldn’t taste the cheese. How can one not be able to taste cheese in a QUESAdilla? Well, I paid $ 2 extra and slathered that sucker in Guac and sour cream to add some flavor. All in all, it’s an ok spot to sit and rest during a layover with a big margarita menu, some draft beers, and a small but relevant wine menu. Don’t expect great food, but service was friendly for me.

HORRIBLE! Just like so many before me have warned, some of the WORST FOOD I have ever paid for! Also, I think it’s almost like they know they suck because when I told the waiter the food was TERRIBLE, he was unapologetically «sorry»! Right… as if that’s the first time he’s been told that. Oh and by the way, I didn’t appreciate the extra $ 0.99 charge for the extra crappy salsa. Shoulda told me they were charging me for that. Please… you are better off with any other option at the airport!

I travel a lot — and by a lot I mean 15 — 20 times a year, so I am no stranger to airport food. But seriously — I ordered a bacon burrito. They asked if I wanted refried beans on it and, luckily, I said yes. As it happens the beans were the ONLY thing on the burrito. No cheese, no bacon, no tomatoes or sour cream. A wrapped up bunch of beans! And I took it to go, so no taking it back. It was way expensive and sucked, so please tell all your friends. Grab the cold sandwich next door — at least it comes with a born on date!!!

Worst food. I ordered chicken enchiladas and it was meat rolled in a dry corn tortilla covered with nasty green sauce (not baked) and lettuce. Blob of sour cream on top. Beans looked like they were scrapped off the bottom of the pan. White rice was disgusting. I sent it back and ordered chips and salsa with queso. Chips were out of a bag, salsa was good but the bowl of heated up velveeta cheese was gross. The staff was nice. I will never eat there again. Food was terrible. Find other options in the airport!!!

I mean the places are pretty limited in MCI. Food was average but service was excellent. I forget her name but she was very nice and made us laugh and feel pretty welcome. I would come back just for her… Can’t remember her name though. Short blonde hair and a bit short.
Oh we had the nachos (the chicken tasted really plain) and the chicken quesadilla (also nothing special).

Never again! Y’all need to learn what Mexican food is … coated refried beans as if they’d been on the plate for five days, white rice and cold fajitas with no choice of tortilla (corn or flour) and no chips. Guacamole probably bought at the local store. Bar Rescue — please help them. Service was pleasant BUT I ordered 2 drinks that even though I returned them because they were terrible after first taste, not even worth consumption, rancid! I was charged full price — and an over– exaggerated price at that. Let alone, I strongly believe their «Patron» was truly Cuervo — this coming from someone who drinks quality tequila and knows her tequila! Michelada — do they even know what that is? Yuck! I know KC isn’t the place for Mexican food but at least buy TV dinners, it’d be better than this crap. Out of obligation, I’m a sucker and tipped but I should’ve given them only this tip: CLOSE SHOP or do American burgers or something other than what you are attempting to do because you just aren’t even close! I’m off to try some real food (as far as airport food goes) to cleanse my palette —- FYI hours later, and an extremely uncomfortable plane ride — I am very ill with stomach issues!!! DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE!!! I deeply regret this meal. UPDATE, NEXT DAY: Still ill, worst culinary experience ever!

Waitress was friendly– food was unfriendly.

Summation: if you are really, really, really hungry… just stay hungry…

I found the food and waitstaff quite memorable… but not for the reasons they’d probably like to be. All we had was their terrible tortilla soup and a top shelf margarita and I would honestly rather be in a Taco Bell with a Zima.

Horrible. Even for airport food. $ 35 for a nasty margarita and overlooked, dry fajitas? Admittedly, there aren’t a lot of food options beyond security at KCI, but avoid this place. Honestly you’re better off heading over to Starbucks for your dinner.

Don’t order the green chicken enchiladas… probably had better food in my elementary school cafeteria

In a word… meh! Ok for airport food but definitely overpriced. The nachos were ok. Nothing to write home about but fine for a lunch when you’re stuck at the airport waiting for your flight.

Eat anywhere else at the airport! Poor service and less than stellar food. Quite possibly the worst margarita I’ve ever had.

This place is AWFUL! How do you mess up a chicken quesadilla?!? Ask these guys. Had the worst, nastiest, saltiest, old, disgusting chicken I’ve ever had. I returned it once hoping it was a fluke. No such luck. The manager was sitting right there when I had to get up and go ask why I had brown chicken. Maybe it was a mistake? He said NOTHING! Not sorry, not screw you, nothing. After it came back a second time just as nasty as the first I scraped the chicken off and ate the tortilla because it’s KC airport and there’s nowhere to eat. After I choked that down I asked to speak to the manager. He was an idiot that could care less. This place should just shut down rather than insult people with their terrible food, poor management and horrendous customer service.

Very expensive! Not freshly prepared. Drinks are great. Good service. Get the shrimp fajitas because everything else is basic. Good tap water :-)

Quick service, worst attempt at mexican food, I have made better food in my dorm room and we didn’t even have a kitchen. Their pico is chopped up tomatoes and their salsa is pace picante sauce. Smh

Too expensive for the food. But of course it’s in the airport. Service was ok, but food was like processed food, not very authentic. Not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon.

This is probably the worst food I have had in years. I would rather eat expired food out of a dumpster at a grocery store. No joke. Don’t eat here because you’ll be disappointed. This place is only safe for water and beer.

Considering the name of this place, they should REALLY have better margaritas. It was sweet and almost devoid of alcohol, served in a quite unremarkable glass (I think it was a plastic mug). I ordered the nachos, it was literally something I could’ve whipped up with a microwave in one minute.
Service was excellent.

When you have a cancelled flight, this is a spot that will help you pass the time. I wish this place was behind security, but… it’s airport food, not a Mexican specialty. The waitress was very friendly. Bloody Mary’s taste like juice (no flavor or spice) but you can’t go wrong with a glass of wine or beer. If I’m stuck in the airport and need a bite to eat, still an option for me, but I won’t be going out of my way for it
