Jalapeno Brothers

Checked out this place while getting new tires put on nearby. I was very disappointed.
My burrito was mediocre at best. The chicken has no flavor. It was really not worth eating.
I also got a taco. Inedible. Gross. Took one bite and threw the rest away.
Chips and salsa were ok. Salsa wasn’t great but was all right. Best part of the meal was the chips — how sad is that?
Will not be returning.

Food was bland. Salsa was bland. American mex to me, didnt taste like «authentic» at all. We had the burritos and tacos. Won’t go back… Just trying to find a dam good taco joint in KC, and this place fell wayy short.

It’s no longer authentic Mexican food!
Don’t think I saw anyone Hispanic workers there at all! Food quality and recipes changed for the worst. The green quac sauce is now weak. I just to come often, but never again.

We used to eat at the food truck almost every week. This place is now under new management– every employee is new and no one knows anything about the way the food used to be prepared. It is so disappointing because they don’t use the same ingredients or prepare items in the same way as the previous management.
We drive to central avenue in KCKS or to southwest boulevard in KCMO when we want tortas and burritos.
I would recommend they do some basic research on authentic Mexican food.

Their chicken tacos are very good and their guac is amazing! If you go here you must try the guac! Also love the Royals and Sporting KC theme inside the establishment.

Stopped in with my daughters on Saturday to try it out. I have seen the truck and the new storefront location. The steak and chicken tacos we had were awesome. My kids loved them and the green avacado salsa was awesome. We ordered the nachos and they were fantastic. I will be back for sure! And my kids and I played foos ball for a bit. Great place!

I so wanted Jalapeño Brothers to wow me — being a small, local business and all. And its roots of originally being a food truck only made me want that even more. It’s a success story that I wanted to continue to be successful. But I digress.
After my visit here, I left completely unimpressed. I expected the food to knock my socks off, but all it did was give me the feeling of soggy socks. My boyfriend agreed. He ordered the chicken burrito and found it to be less than average — Taco Bell has more flair to their burritos than Jalapeño Brothers. I had the pastor burrito and didn’t find it to be any more remarkable than my boyfriend’s chicken burrito. We also ordered the chicken tamale and found it to be really dry. The chicken filling tasted nothing more than something reminiscent of meat and jalapenos. It definitely had heat, but it wasn’t even a flavorful heat.
And the photos on their menu lie. What appears to be a filling and stuffed burrito only had half of the ingredients shown in the picture. There were no beans, rice, or guacamole to be found. Just lettuce, sour cream, and onion. We left hungry.

Meh. Even if Los Jalapeños Hermanos is attempting to be street-​style Mexican, it’s average. It seems as though it transformed from food truck form to brick-​and-​mortar form recently. To its credit, the meals are made fresh to-​order, but the menu is very limited and the tortillas are not handmade. I would have thought the purpose of moving to an actual building would be to expand the menu (and draw more customers). They do offer al pastor tacos and tamales, but that’s about where it ends as far as choices you don’t normally find anywhere else.
The dining area is pretty clean, and there’s a foosball table right in the middle of where the line forms. So if you want to be in the way of people, you can play it. They conveniently serve drunk and hungover people by remaining open until 3:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The fact they do this supports my belief that the food isn’t good to begin with.
Its website says it offers customers chances to get free food. Huh?
Also, the online menu lies because the only reason I was interested in coming here to begin with was for the horchata. Such a delicious drink. We got there, and it’s not on the menu.
The inside has décor featuring Royals and Sporting KC. In case that entices you to visit. If a quiet, unsuspecting person walked out from the kitchen area wearing a button-​down and tie, it would complete the Breaking Bad similarity.

Good street-​style tacos. They also have sandwiches, burritos, quesadillas, etc. Good food, reasonable quality and decent pricing. Pastor is my favorite taco. Steak (bland, chewy) and fish (breaded frozen fish stick) I don’t recommend.

So glad to have a traditional mexican taquiera in the northland!
Been here a couple times and the food is very good. Pastor tacos are excellent here, the carne asada tacos are good (but the pastor is the winner between the two).
Very good guacamole too.
Price’s not quite as cheap as the similar joints in KCK, but it’s worth it not having to make the drive. Nice décor, with tables celebrating numerous sports teams.
I hope they are working on getting a liquor license so I could enjoy a cold cerveza con mis tacos!

So so good. And cheap and fast. My new favorite lunch spot. I have to force myself not to eat there everyday.

While I miss their food truck, the food has not changed, in moving to a ‘café’ type setting. I ordered the steak and chicken tacos and they were awesome. Everything is made fresh to order, nothing under a heat lamp for days. The staff was pleasant and our food was prepared and delivered promptly. This is by far a hidden gem of the Northland for Authentic Mexican Street Food.

This isn’t a place I’d take a date but it’s a Mexican meal you have to try. Ambiance is more fast food but the food is made to order. And well worth it. Chicken burrito was excellent. They don’t smother it in cheese. Just the right blend of ingredients. If you like soccer– the place is loaded w pics.

Highly recommend for fresh, made-​to-​order Tex-​Mex. Clean, bright environment with new construction within (not some cobbled up mess from the previous inhabitants) and friendly staff. Our family ordered burritos with various different meat fillings… better than Chipotle any day and you won’t get sick… ha! It’s a casual environment so it’s not «swanky» or romantic but it is definitely professional and clean with great tasting food!

Had the torta with pastor meat. Delicious and well balanced, highly recommend the green sauce!

Came home for Christmas from FL and always love trying all the new places my sisters get to go to on a regular basis in and around Kansas City. Jalapeño Brothers will NOT disappoint, amazing food! The menu is small, simple, and perfectly not overwhelming. Fast and healthy portions of awesomeness for a reasonable price. Glad it’s down the street from one of sister’s house for an encore visit before I head back to FL.

Authentic, fresh and affordable priced. Food is cooked to order. Friendly staff. Royals, Sporting KC, and Mexican décor. Clean and well kept. Generous portions. A true value for what you get.
