Loved the Pad Thai, Hole in the wall style restaurant perfect.

We have eaten at Big Bowl Phở several times since they opened, mainly for take-out, and their Phở is legit. The Staff is very friendly and will gladly answer any questions you have about the menu. Their Phở selection is huge, always served piping hot, flavorful broth, and fresh ingredients to add based on your taste. My favorite Phở’s being the Wonton Phở and the beef Phở– both very tasty! Highly recommend.

My fiancé loves their chicken phở and their moo ping is so delicious! One of our favorite places up north!

I found out that Big bowl phở and Tasty Thai(next door) have the same owner. Anyway, I ordered Phở noodle and the soup taste just perfect. The noodle is generous size. Will be back next time!

This place is bad. Really really bad. I stopped by on my way to the airport and saw the big signs out front. Got a hankering from phở from the signs so decided to stop in for a quick bite before my flight. The apps are strangely priced sort of high. For $ 4.95 I got two egg rolls that were pretty bad(though they at least came fresh out of the frier). The phở broth was bland and over salted. It had no complexity like a good phở broth. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was some powder mixture they boil with water. The noodles were undercooked and too chewy. The beef was inedible. I left every piece of meat in the bowl. Service was nice but it just doesn’t make up for the poor quality of food here.

My boyfriend and I drove by this place on a work trip and had to stop! Very surprised by everything. In a good way! We were greeted the second we walked through the door and told to sit anywhere we liked. I got the lo mein and my bf got the deluxe phở. We both really enjoyed our meals! We tried eachothers and even loved that! Wish we lived closer so we could have this place more often! Been to another phở place before and it could NEVER compare to this place :)

Very surprised this place actually VERYGOOD! I ordered the Beef Phở(Wednesday special only $ 5.00), and my friend ordered the Big Bowl Omelet with Rice. The noodle soup was very tasty and I cant stop drinking it. The beef was tender and fresh, the noodles was just the right texture. My friend’s omelet with rice was very good too, the omlete was crispy on the outside and soft inside. I would wish they will give you more rice though, they only came with one scope of rice on a separate plate. I would surely go back again to try more of their phở and rice dishes for sure!

I could eat Phở, everyday!!! I was visiting KC and on my way to the airport saw the sign and decided to stop. It looked kind of shady from the outside, but inside was nice & clean. I ordered spring rolls and usually I don’t care for peanut sauce but this place peanut sauce was so delicious I also ordered a Thai ice tea with boba, when the waitress brought it out it was a Thai ice tea slushy not really what I had in mind but it was still good. Their chicken Phở was very good also. I liked this lil restaurant and will be back every time I visit KC

Went without phở for a few weeks. After getting off the plane, I stopped in for a quick fix. Should have kept driving to my usual place in the river market area. The restaurant should rename itself«normal bowl phở». The bowls aren’t big for phở standards. I would have given the restaurant a better rating, but the meatballs in the phở wasn’t fresh and the smell was a little off. Despite my better judgement, I ate both of them. Boy did I pay for it the rest of the day. The soup was too salty and the phở has minimal amount of noodles.

The moment you walk in you are automatically greeted and seated which is good. Pros — the phở is very good you can tell from the broth — the boba tea is good, blended very well and they give you a good portion of it Con — nothing negative that I can think of to be honest, I’ll most likely come back Opinion — since some people have never tried phở or heard of maybe you should show them how to eat it properly, even though it is funny to see people struggle

Found this restaurant by accident. We’re on our way back to Omaha, Nebraska and want to have lunch at other place but it was closed due to Memorial Day holiday. So we figured we’re just gonna look for the closest restaurant that we can find. At the beginning we were skeptical about it since the outside appearance is tacky with all of their promotion banners. We decided to give it a try since we have to eat anyway. It was after lunch time so the place was empty when we walked in. I ordered the Moo Ping which is their pork chops, it turned out to be pretty tasty except for the pork is a little bit hard. My husband had their meatballs phở and liked it. The broth is flavorful. My mother in law had their vermicelli with pork salad and she likes it a lot. Overall we don’t regret our decision to have lunch here if we’re happen to be around the area. Love the service as well, the waitress was nice and helpful. Price wise is reasonable as well.

The fiancé and I love this place. I’m originally from California where there are an abundance of phở places, and Big Bowl Phở is legit. The duck phở is a must try. I read some of the other reviews and noticed the criticism given to this place were not warranted. First, the race of the person serving me has zero bearing on whether I like the food(who cares if they didn’t «look» Asian). Second, phở is no where near as good if you order it to go(I always order the noodles uncooked if I do). But that’s just me. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

Stopped for lunch the other day on the way to the airport. I had the meatball phở and my brother had the seafood. Both we good portions with fresh ingredients. I’ve had a better broth but this wasn’t bad just not quite a flavorful as some. Service was quick and efficient. I’d go again if I’m in the area.

Don’t believe the hype! I heard and read promising reviews of BBP and now I am questioning my choice of friends. Where do I start? We ordered brisket phở with egg noodles and meatball phở. Pros: Decorum and local owned business. Con: Too expensive for the quality and weak broth, there were maybe two pieces of brisket in the husbands phở, non-Asian Server was either a scared teenage girl or didn’t speak English, I asked for a small bowl that I never received. We went to Quiktrip and got pizza afterwards. As a frequent flyer at Vietnam Café and Kim Long, I was disappointed in BBP. But I should’ve known better when there aren’t an abundance of ethnic people at the restaurant or writing the reviews.

Small, cozy little place. Not much for looks, but clean and tidy on the inside. Ordered the Deluxe Phở, not overly impressed. Although the serving of meat was quite hefty the broth was pretty bland and tasted too much of sugar. Veggies were fresh and portion size was enough to fill you. If you’re into average tasting phở, then this place is for you. If you’re into great tasting phở, this place is not the place for you. Went in with two friends and their 2-year old child and a 18% gratuity charge was added to the bill. Just a fyi for the larger parties.

Nice cute cozy little place for a conversational date night. No tvs, no alcohol, low key music. Traditional Vietnamese food, drinks & deserts(they have Boba) Same owners of Big Bowl & Tasty Thai(they share the same kitchen). I was in the mood for Thai fried rice & they made for me! Reasonably priced! They have daily specials Mon-Wed. Will be coming back!

Just ate here for dinner and thought the food and service were great! I ordered the chicken phở, big bowl size, and it was a bery generous amount for a decent price($ 6.95+$ 2 for the size upgrade). The noodles were just the right texture and broth was very good(yes, I added in some sriracha and hoisin to taste). Will definitely be back here during my stay in KC!

My bowl of Phở was pretty good. Seemed fresh and had good flavor. Other reviewers said the broth was not so tasty but I thought it was decent. I think the quality of the food is pretty on-par with Tasty Thai(next door, run by the same people I’m pretty sure), but if I had to choose one or the other, I’d go to Tasty Thai. Although the food was good, there were some issues with cleanliness. Something just seemed a little grungy about the place. The lady in the booth behind me(who claimed to be an ex-inspector) complained to the waitress that the Hoisen sauce needed to be refrigerated(says so right on the bottle, there is one on every table). The waitress took it in the back, waited for her to leave, then just put it back on the table. I know they don’t sit out long enough to go rancid, but I just thought it was comical! The Edamame that we ordered as an appetizer looked pretty old. There were more than a few brown spots, and the shells just felt old. Probably the worst thing though was that my wife found a HUGE hair in her bowl. We didn’t say anything, just ate and left, taking note of these little things. All in all, the food was a 7/10, service 6/10, atmosphere 5/10, price 8⁄10. Not terrible, not great, but in the end we probably won’t go back.

First off, I don’t know why it says this is Chinese food on Unilocal, because it’s Vietnamese food and I’ve already submitted the change to Unilocal as if 9÷13÷14. I randomly found this place on Unilocal so I decided to check it out with my friend. This was a phở place up north which was a good change of pace for me considering the phở places I go to were south of the river. We came around 12pm on a Saturday which was when they opened on the weekends. I believe they were open from 11am to 9pm on the weekdays and they close at 10pm and 8pm for Saturday and Sunday respectively. Their menu had a lot of choices and I was primarily here to try their phở. We decided on the Fresh Spring Roll($ 5.95), Beef Jerky($ 5.95), and we both ordered the Beef Brisket Phở($ 7.95). Under the Phở Noodle Soups part of the menu, there was a Super Bowl size for $ 19.95 which was one gallon and I didn’t ask how big the Big Bowl(add $ 2). They had the different bowls on display that other Unilocalers have posted already. It took a few minutes before our appetizers came out. The Fresh Spring Rolls were good and the peanut sauce tasted like what it should. It came in a boat-shaped dish and came with two rolls. The Beef Jerky was delicious and we ordered it because it was their famous homemade tasty and tender beef jerky. It reminded me of a Chinese dish(forgot the name) on the initial bite but the flavor changes soon after that. It was hard to explain but try it out. The Beef Brisket Phở was just okay in my opinion. The broth was bland and the beef brisket was the kind that had fat attached on some of the pieces. The beef brisket was good and the noodles were like other phở places. If the broth wasn’t bland then the phở would be good. The spoon provided was not really meant for drinking the broth and just made it difficult. I took a picture of it to show what I’m talking about. The service was not bad. There were just two working here when we came and the place wasn’t busy. Big Bowl Phở was not bad and their phở could taste better if their broth wasn’t bland. The menu had a lot of items to choose from so I’m sure you’ll be able to find something that might suit your taste.

How badly I want to fall in love with you. I feel like maybe I expected too much from our first date, or maybe all the other phở places of Kansas City ruined me. There just wasn’t a spark. Your inviting perky yellow walls and overly cute menu elephant waltzed right into my heart… but the phở was only mediocre. Big Bowl Phở and Tasty Thai are sisters via the same owners, so I thought for sure our visit would be a home run since we already love their Thai. But alas, I can’t force love at first bite. The spring rolls were very good and served with a peanut sauce – can’t go wrong there. I ordered the wonton phở and I don’t recall what my boyfriend ordered. Sadly we didn’t receive any of the usual plated garnishments(i.e. sprouts, etc). In the end, our phở fix was pinched but the it was a little bit on the bland side. Nothing to write home about. Like I said, I want so badly to love this place so we’ll definitely be back!
