This is a traditionalist clothing shop. Not a low-dollar or thrift or high fashion place. As such [[some reviewers not grasping…]], it’s the best — bar none — in the city. The key is your method of shopping and applying some patience, as with any quality merchant dealing in one-of-a-king goods. This place is a gem for those who grasp the nature of how to shop as somewhere other than the mall or a big-box. :-)))

Super nice staff and a lot of great clothes! I will definitely be back. But I have to say I was confused by some of the prices though — some things seem reeeaaally overpriced. A few examples: There was a forever 21 cardigan in there for $ 36, which I’m pretty sure is double what a new piece from f21 even costs. And even though the sheer number of vintage Ferragamo pumps alone made me love the store, they were all mostly priced at over $ 100(some on sale for ½ that, though). It’s easy to buy great used Ferragamo’s for about $ 25, especially online, so I had to pass and also wonder why they were so much here! Anyway, I think especially for guys this store is great — a lot of the men’s items were really fairly priced. Overall a good shopping day stop!

I’m going to give Act II3 stars for now, as I didn’t buy anything on my recent trip in, but I can definitely see some potential for some interesting purchases, especially because I love a good deal. There’s a little bit of everything here, from über fancy evening gowns to «designer» jeans(think some of the pricier brands like Joe’s Jeans, etc.). Some of the items, especially the jewelry, are vintage(and right now they also have some vintage hats), while other items are just downright funky. They do sell furs here, which I am NOT a fan of, but apparently there’s still a market for that sort of thing. A lot of the clothes are for the more middle aged shopper, but that’s certainly not the case for everything, and I found plenty of items that I would wear. The items in Act II range from«gently used» to brand new(with the tags still on), so even if you’re not into buying used clothing, you have a good chance of finding something new here. There’s a definite focus on name brands and designers, so some of the items are still really pricey for a consignment store, but if you MUST have a Chanel bag, it’s possible that you’ll find it here. They’re clearing out their winter items now, so the selection is limited, but there are also some great bargains to be had as almost everything is deeply discounted. The staff in the store were welcoming and friendly, and made sure that I knew where everything was, that everything was on sale, etc. Act II isn’t going to become a regular shopping stop for me, but I’m glad I know it’s there now, and I can definitely see myself popping in to look around on some idle Saturday afternoon.
