Once in awhile it’s worth a stop into this thrift store to see if you can find a hidden treasure. That said, the floors are so dirty if there were a treasure it would be buried so deep one would never find it. I don’t think they have ever cleaned them. It seems to be worse now than it ever has been in the three years I’ve been stopping in. It’s not that I would never return or seek a hidden gem. Just be prepared it isn’t clean and you will need to shower when you get home.

Mostly clothing. It was a good place to find a kid’s Halloween costume, but I would buy much from here. I was looking for more home goods.

This shop is no where as nice as the Topeka counterpart. Everything here is broken, stained, ripped or missing parts. Very frustrating shopping experiences both times I’ve visited. Will not go back again.

There is some good quality, nicely priced, well organized women’s clothing. However, I have purchased items that after I took home and washed I had to throw directly into the garbage because of the damage done by the staples they use for pricing. Won’t buy shirts or other light fabrics there anymore.

Nearly gave this place just 3 stars but then when I stopped to recall the huge selection and number of reasonably priced items, I decided on four stars. With the comment about reasonable prices — that’s mostly on clothing and purses/bags. I did look at some seasonal and housewares items and literally laughed aloud at the high prices on those. Apparently the pricing person(s) haven’t ever been to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Michaels Crafts, or other stores where these items are much cheaper in brand new condition. Definitely a star off for that. Other areas where this store gained points with me are the decently organized categories(size and type re: women’s clothing items) and long hours of operation. Staff was sufficiently friendly and helpful on my late evening visit.

You know this stuff is given to you right(mostly)? What the heck is up with these prices? I was looking for a latch hook canvas. Used was fine… anyway, they had 2 or 3 latch hook kits from the 70s still NIB, $ 7.99. That’s ridiculous. They were like pictures of brown mushrooms. I know a new kit is probably $ 12 but it’d at least be in style and wouldn’t smell like my grandma’s dog. I could build a time machine and go back in time and buy a 1970s kit and come back with it for less money than they’d charge.(OK, just kidding). I understand earning money to help people, but thrift shops are supposed to kind of be cheaper for people to be able to afford teh stuff too, I thought. I will not go back. Their prices were just crazy. They had a bag of stained up used plastic cookie cutters for $ 5.99? Seriously?

This store is a bit out-of-the-way on 47th Avenue in KCKS — but it’s unique because it combines a lot of high end merchandise with low prices. The store also has special sales on most national holidays. Maj-R also has a larger selection of clothes for men than most other thrift stores.

Maj-R has been my fave thrifty for the past 3 – 4 years. It’s my go-to place for work clothes and I’ve been able to score stuff from banana, jcrew, and loft(a few of my fave nonthrifty stores.) I’ve also had great luck with boys blazers, though I think I’ve cleaned them out for the time being. I’m a fan of the 75% tags and rarely leave empty handed. Pros: selection, 75% off/50% off tags, arranged by size, decent brands Cons: few vintage items, small book selection, very dusty

Wasn’t impressed with this thrift store. Stopped in after I ate at OK Joe’s down the street. Book section sparse, place smelled, selection so-so, bought a shirt. Overall not at all impressed and I like thrift stores.

This place has a great selection, especially of formal dresses and purses/bags. There is so much to look and sift through, and it usually takes me at least an hour, if not more, to look through everything. They also have a good selection of sweaters and shirts for women, and their jewelry cases usually has some good finds– some pieces I’ve bought have been vintage and totally unique– which is what I look for in jewelry! The staff is pretty friendly, especially for it being a ‘thrift store’ and didn’t mind us taking a picture in our tacky prom dresses.(Mine was powder blue and had a lace back, my friend’s was velvet) :)

This place is enourmous! They have lots of everything, except size 30 pants. At any rate, you’ll need some time to sift through things, and the clothes(the men’s pants, at least) are rarely sorted correctly and so you might have to go through 30 feet of rack to find the right size.
