This is an amazing family restaurant. Ridiculously low prices, with amazing service.

Well, where do I start? I bought a gift certificate for this restaurant. It’s $ 25 off a purchase of $ 50 or more. I am now handicapped and housebound. I will never be able to use it. I posted it in a Kankakee Facebook group for just $ 5 to recoop a small portion of my purchase price. Before I posted I called the restaurant last night to see if they still accept them. YES they did. Today on my Facebook post I get a message that I was a SCAMMER. I privately messaged the lady and asked WHY she would say that. I told her to go to the website and see them for sale in there! She told me SHE was the owner, Felisha Robinson and I am a SCAMMER! OMG. I called the restaurant again today and talked to a nice young lady. She said YES they do take the gift certificates, in fact she looking at one right now sitting on the spindle that someone used this afternoon. I thanked her and went back to my private conversation with Felisha Robinson, the owner. She still calls me a SCAMMER. I don’t know what is wrong with this woman but I am going to exchange my gift certificate for a different restaurant and I will make sure I tell all my friends in the Kankakee County area about how this owner operates!!!(I used to live in Manteno, so I know ALOT of people) I hope one day no one has to experience the handicap I have and have to deal with such an inconsiderate person. I would never suggest this restaurant to anyone I know. This is my personal opinion Thank you Felisha Robinson, co owner of Carlo’s for your hospitality. NOT!

No. That is what I’ll say to anyone who wants to meet here again. Maybe it was the hateful bigots in my group that dampened the experience, but the food or service was nothing to write home about either. Cramped, cluttered… just no.

Great small town diner. The pork chops were a nice surprise. Good flavor & juicy. Hubby had a half pound burger which was great. He could not finish it. We will be back…

Despite the good reviews posted prior, I was very disappointed with the food. My order of fish and chips were horrible. Other guests ordered sandwiches which were rated above average Service was above average. Would not go back.

The star of this show is the service. The staff is really nice. Really really nice. The prices are super low as well. The food… the way I feel about the food makes me feel like a snob, a feeling I don’t like. I could be wrong but it didn’t seem home made, more put together from frozen or canned etc. I want to like this place because people I know love it. But they also love Monical’s and Jaenickes and I don’t get that either.

I used to come here as a little kid with my Grandma after church. It was always super packed and you could barely breathe through all the smokers’ smoke! It’s obviously smoke-free now as all Illinois establishments, but it brings back memories! The food is American comfort and very good. I usually stop in for lunch and get either a BLT or club sandwich. The food is quick, inexpensive and good. The potato salad and coleslaw are always great. It is definitely a local diner with«locals» who hang out everyday. The waitresses are great and even if it’s your first visit, everyone in the diner will greet you like you’re a regular.

Much like Blue’s, this is a good place for lunch or dinner when you just want some good food at a great price. Younger crowd than Blue’s with a family feel. I never go there without running into old friends and co-workers. A great place to catch-up with folks you might not get to see regularly anymore.

Love it! Local favorite! Service is great and the food is good for the small diner that it is! Make sure you stop by and try a babycake(gourmet cupcakes)! They are OUTSTANDING!

This is one of my long standing favorites. For breakfast, there really isn’t anything better than a gigantic plate of their biscuits and gravy. For lunch or dinner, one must order the tenderloin sandwich with pickle and mustard. The hoagie sandwich on garlic bread isn’t half bad either. The only thing better than the food is the service. The waitstaff is outrageously friendly and treat you like family. Speaking of family, it appears that the owners are involved with the day to day operations. That is always a good sign. As everyone always says, it’s the hometown local joints that are always the best. This couldn’t be more true about Carlo’s. I would take it over any one of the fast food chains that this community is littered with!

This is one of the gems that might be passed by because the outside doesn’t look like much. But their food has always been outstanding! Large quantity for a very decent price. Their pork tenderloin sandwich is huge, at least double the size of the bun. And their chicken fried steak is one of their best dishes. They have daily specials which are the highlights of their menu. Saturday has been prime rib dinner night for as long as I lived down the street from them(no longer do) and it was always melt in your mouth. My favorite was always their meat loaf and their chicken & noodles dinner. I liked them for dinner but never for breakfast as I didn’t care for their sausage. This is one place that is definitely worth loosening that belt buckle as you’ll come out of there stuffed!
