Kimos Furniture Maui

Tasteful, knowledgable, quality, excellence. all words which aptly describe this wonderful Maui store and the owners. They know their inventory backwards and forwards and the furniture they feature is absolutely amazing! Can’t say enough. Make it the first place for shopping to enrich your home –and it just may be your final stop.

As before, this is one to check out if looking for quality furniture on Maui. This visit we picked up a chair that fit criteria we’d been searching for for six years. Good assistance, but never anything on sale in our experiences.

I ordered a custom sectional sofa with chaise from Kimo’s and love, love it. Todd spent time and was very patient with me while making my decisions and dealing with space limitations to get exactly the right sizing that works in my great room. The sofa is probably one of best built sofa’s I have ever owned. The California company that constructed the sofa definitely does an excellent job. After buying inferior made sofa’s that don’t last I’ve found that spending a little more is truly worth it and know this sofa will last and look beautiful for a long time.

We ordered a sofa and a sofa sleeper from Kimo’s after finding exactly what we wanted in one of their catalogs. The two sofas together were over $ 5,000. We were told when we ordered them that the sleeper sofa would have to have a deeper deck (the part of the sofa the cushions sit on) than the model we chose to accommodate the sleeper mechanism. We agreed to have the sleeper sofa modified to accommodate the mechanism since it would be in the den which also serves as the second bedroom in the condo.
The sofas were supposed to be delivered with six to eight weeks; instead they were delivered 13 weeks from the day we ordered them. When the sofas arrived we were off-​island. When we returned to Maui and saw the sofas in person we were shocked to see that Kimo’s had arbitrarily decided to increase the depth of the deck on the NON-​sleeper sofa to match the sleeper. This was done without consulting us.
When we approached Kimo’s about this they refused to do anything about it. We offered to bring the sofa back, but because their sofas are «custom» they have a no return policy. Even though the mistake was their fault, they refused to do anything about it.
We disputed the charge with our credit card company, but because the catalog page from which we chose the sofa had no measurements for the deck, we are out of luck. Even though it is plain to see Kimo’s mistake by comparing the catalog picture to the sofa, the credit card company will not use photographs to settle a claim.
In several cases Todd, the owner, actually lied to the credit card company about communications he had with us, but because there is no way we can prove it, we, again, are out of luck.
If you do choose to do business with him, get everyting in writing, and I mean everything. Measure every detail and make sure it is on the invoice.
Anyone want to buy a slightly used sofa?

I went shopping on line at this store. I will be moving to the island and spoke directly to Todd K. the owner. He was extremely helpful and sent me pictures and prices of the pieces I wanted to see more of. I love the Carolina bedroom sets and he even offered to set it up before I arrived. Now that’s service. No where in California have I had that good of service. I know I’m going to love living the island life. Mahalo to Todd.
