Nice breezy white sandy beach in Kahului. Cool place to just relax and people watch. Lots of colorful kites dancing in the sky from all the windsurfers catching waves.

Ahh, north shore. Kanaha beach park is great for so many things… Swimming, walking, relaxing and watching kite surfers and wind surfers. The morning is nice because the water is usually calm, the view is awesome and the beach isn’t crowded. The wind picks up in the afternoon and it can be really busy so take note. It is the north shore and it does tend to get some high winds later in the day. There are three entrances when going to Kanaha which makes parking pretty convenient. The first one has the lifeguard stand and the canoe hale. There’s also a Volleyball net and a shower. The second has lots of space for gatherings – and lots of shade. There’s bathrooms and a shower there too. The third entrance seems to be more for fisherman and for wind/kite surfers – but there is a shower and a few picnic tables. You can park at any entrance and walk for quite a ways. It’s a beautiful place for a morning workout. The water is usually really clean and you can often see turtles. Remember: no touching. Just enjoy them from a distance! Another thing to note: while it is a great beach, I’d recommend not going too early in the morning or too late at night. Park hours are 6:30am-8pm and I’d say anytime between 8 – 6 is great. Just be aware of your surroundings and who’s there. That’s all. It’s not a dangerous place, just be aware and be safe. North shore peeps love Kanaha. It’s a great place to Chillax and enjoy the view. Don’t forget your camera! Those colorful kite surf sails fill the sky!

Positives — close to the airport so you can hang here before you head back to the mainland — great wind if you are into windsurfing or kitesurfing. Fun to watch people kitesurfing here and the sand is good. Negatives — doesn’t feel like the safest beach after the sun goes down. too windy for people just hanging out sometimes.

Another beaut of a beach. It’s a dope place to fish and chill. Basically, stick your fishin rod in the sand and drink Maui beers… now that’s what I call sport fishing. Not too many people to annoy you… since it is not at a resort. I saw some locals maxin in tents so if you wanna stay the night. juts put your pole in the water. Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka, Kama’aina

Located somewhat near the wastewater treatment facility and tucked away behind the sometimes rancid-smelling Kanaha Pond, Kanaha Beach, which admittedly had a reputation for being home to an army of van-dwelling folks and other homeless types, gets itself kinda a bad rap. Despite that(and indicated by the current rating of over four stars), I will not be the first to sing praises for the beach. In addition to being a hotspot for wind sports, the beach and the park are just simply nice. Kanaha is place for a baby luau, a photo shoot, or to observe native species of flora and fauna at sunset… and it’s literally seconds away from town! If you haven’t been in a while, get over your past hesitations, learn to pronounce it correctly, and head on over!

Quaint beach past camp grounds. Found this spot after grabbing breakfast and arriving in Maui. Probably will stop by again a bit before flying out. Little indy, tons of tiny hermit crabs by the water.

Soft whites sand and azure waters, reminds me of Lanikai Beach in Oahu. 3 minutes away from OGG airport. Unbelievable. We had a few hours before our flight and we decided to stroll around the beach park. Pretty deserted on a Sunday evening except for a couple of kids playing. Very nice beach compared to the one behind my hotel in kanapali. Good beach to chill if you have time before youre flight out of maui.

This is a really nice beach and park considering it’s half a mile from the airport. If you have some time to kill before your flight, stop by Kanaha Beach Park for a while.

Nice beach, just past a semi-industrial area in Kahului. The sand is pretty fine and there are tons of wind surfers that make for good watching. The day we went, it was pretty sunny and there were only a few other people at the beach not wind surfing — so there was lots of space on the beach! We didn’t go in the water, but it did look nice! There were some vagrants, but they just stick to themselves — so they’re mostly harmless. Just don’t let your guard down!

I came here today because this was the beach in closest proximity to Wailiku. It’s decent by Hawaii standards. White sandy beach, crystal blue waters and relatively clean. It has a lifeguard on duty so that’s a plus especially for me since I was by myself and was a little worried about unwanted attention. It’s windy so there are always wind surfers around which make for a beautiful backdrop. However, it is windy enough at times that you end up having sand in your face constantly. The water is relatively flat, and there are always locals doing water exercises. There are also picnic tables, bbq pits and several volleyball courts and a bunch of outrigger canoes. A solid 3 for a Maui beach. Definitely convenient if u need to hurry back to Wailiku or Kahului or even just go for a break. If you have more time to travel though, I’d probably recommend exploring the nicer beaches that are further away.
