I think he prices the dishes different for locals and non locals. He saw me, gave me a smirk and gave me the total. There was no price on the menu and so I have no clue how much each item was. I got a bag of Aku, one laulau and tuna poke. All that for $ 50. If you are non local, be aware! I am never going back there and I want to make sure all non locals read this before deciding to stop there. Shady business is all I can say about this food truck.

I swear hands down the best dried aku I’ve ever had in my life. I harass my husband every weekend to drive me from makaha just to pick up smoked meat and dried aku. BROKEDAMOUTH

Stopped here after a day of paddling. Got the lau lau plate and a pastele for two to split. Lau lau plate came w lau lau, ahi poke, salmon lomi over rice.(They don’t serve Mac salad!) Lau lau easily one of the best I’ve had on the island. Pastele also delicious. Could have passed on the fish bc it didn’t seem totally fresh. The value was okay. Our servings seemed far smaller than others photos on Unilocal. Our bill was $ 20 total. I gave three stars bc lau lau was so good. Will likely stop again and try to buy just it.

Way overpriced for what you get. Must be friends leaving all the good reviews. With thousands of other options, go somewhere else.

Holo Holo basically means vacation or time off. So when driving up to Polynesian Culture Center– usually I’m on time off and I have some time to talk story or chit chat along the way before getting to the BYU campus at around morning 10 ish. Usually– I have my parents with me to go on a show day/vacation. So going to the Holo Holo Stop is an easy fun way to make a pit stop for my mom to go bathroom and for us to get a plate to share and eat between the 3 of us so as not to get too full but to have enough in our tummies for when we go to the PCC to be able to get up and go off to the farthest area first to get better seats for the small shows. Great to be able to explain local food to my parents like — ohh this it what it is like on Molokai or this is good compared to this. Great way to sample and taste different local foods for my parents that are not used to this kind of food and I am in no way able or willing to make all of the foods. Poke and Lau lau. Yes –there are many choices almost all over Honolulu. Not all places do them well. I’d argue– it is way better here at Holo Holo Stop compared to Ala Moana Mall Food Court where most tourists are going to experience Poke and Lau Lau. Price is really good for the hand made quality feel of the food. Not bad at all — especially to share a plate before going to some other destination. Bad news– it is far out and needs to have a destination attached to it– it is not a daily drive activity. I don’t know if they are able to make any of the Eat the Streets but it would be wonderful to see them there too. Definitely pleasing and great for my parents and they really enjoyed tasting different food to them.

This lunch wagon is right next to the hygienic store on kameheha highway in Kaneohe, under the big Banyon tree. Learned about this place from my cousin. My cousin have often come here with her family before going to the beach. She gave rave reviews about this place. They only take cash so be prepared. Ordered pasteles, ganduli rice, and pickled mango. They have lau lau and poke. The poke didn’t look that great so passed. Pasteles was a winnah! Tasty, big, and plenty of stuffings. Ganduli rice was just ok. Pickled mango was Ono but nothing special. Coming back hopefully next week.

Making the trek up to the North Shore on a rainy Saturday recently, the Holo Holo Stop called out to me and said: Stop! Since I was hungry and it looked appetizing, our little group pulled up and dodging the rain puddles, ambled up to order. A friendly gentlemen doled out plates full of Lau Lau – taro leaves stuffed with steamed pork & Hawaiian fish over a bed of white rice. All that for $ 7 with a can of Pepsi. Also on the menu and looking good: freshly cut local pineapple. As you can see from the other Unilocal on this truck and their unanimous 5STAR UnilocalS, Holo Holo is worth the stop. Not every truck shilling food along the Hawaiian roadside is good, so it’s best for a curious foodie to Unilocal the good trucks and make the effort to find them so you can enjoy some delicious and authentic Hawaiian food while enjoying heaven in the Aloha State!

I swear up & down that I am not exaggerating when I say: «This truck was genuinely the HIGHLIGH of my trip to Oahu!» Unilocal… you need a special«Hall of Fame» section of something. This place deserves more than just a mere«5 stars.» That Lau Lau literally brought the sun out in my world. Okay… I was having a rough day. Feeling very blue. There was no aloha in my heart & here I was on a beautiful island paradise — and I couldn’t find my happy place. It sounds dramatic — but I seriously felt LOW. Went for a little walk — and there was this white truck in the distance. I could see locals stopping by, buying bags of goodies, chatting, smiling, laughing… I decided to check it out. Tear stains on my face, I look up at the chef and ask him what he had to offer… I was open to anything. «You need the Lau Lau…» and that’s how it started. My husband & I left with Lau Lau, Pastele, Pineapple, Poke, and true Aloha. That food was SO good — I felt better instantly. Loved it all — but the Lau Lau was unreal. It warmed my tummy, tasted sweet, tender, just filled with goodness! I felt so much better — true comfort food. Please, please, please — do yourself a favor and stop here if you’re ever on Oahu. He’s there(at the Windward location) weekends & Monday Holidays I believe. Find this truck — it’s absolutely the best! I’ll fondly remember that meal for a very long time!

Went out to Hawaii State Farm Fair for food trucks. Food fail. Hungry and dejected, I noticed a plain, small kine bus up white food truck on the side of the road. Can’t get any worse then the fair, so I pulled over into a makeshift parking spot. WINNINGALLOVERTHEPLACE! Best pasteles! Good lau lau! Good poke! Coconuts that actually had more than a cup of water! The truck menu is written in big black letters with no price. Be sure to ask. I got 3 lau laus for 10 bucks. 1 lb poke for $ 13(you can ask for shoyu or spicy shoyu and he squirts it in and mixes it in the container). Coconut was $ 5. Pretty standard prices BUTGOODFOOD. GOODDEALTOME! Pretty sure this place is cash only. If I hanker for local food, I’d make the drive out there.
