Hidden treasure but should have expected it. This small historical Russian Orthodox Church is located a few minutes from downtown Juneau in a residential neighborhood. A very simple late 1800 wooden structure that now is showing its age and wear. Inside is simple but still has a few of the antique icons the religion is known for. You can wander around and read about the church and icons at your leisure. Pictures are allowed but no flash.

Very cool interesting church. Unique and great history. Nice little detour out of the way from the tourist junk. Please take off your hat and be respectful, and donate a few bucks on your way out!

A great example of the Russian influence that has permeated the history of Alaska. This tiny building is a great way to see a unique style of architecture. The gift shop is pretty standard and not exciting, but I am always more interested in things like the church, not the shop.
