I highly recommend this place. It has amazing food and friendly service. Definitely the best arepas I have had. The steak arepas is my favorite. For dessert, we order the Churros, just awesome.

Excellent food and friendly staff! Hidden restaurant gem in John Creek! HIGHLYRECOMMEND! Arepitas Café is located in a shopping center with several nearby restaurants and a gym. It’s quietly nestled in the corner of the plaza and may be a little hard to find without being very observant. This was my my first time going to Arepita’s and I was a little worried about the menu options since I am vegan and my boyfriend is a carnivore. My initial worry was not needed because the menu offers something for everyone! The staff was very pleasant and helpful. They were able to offer great honest suggestions. This was our first time eating Venezuelan food. They were patient in explaining items on the menu We ordered tostones for our appetiser and it arrived at our table piping hot with a garlic sauce, mayo and our server also brought an avocado dipping sauce which he personally recommended. It was DELICIOUS! I had the vegan arepa and he ordered steak. To say that we enjoyed our visit is an understatement! We will definitely go back for more. You should too!

Yummy! I’ve been craving some tequenos and I found my fix! After a wonderful summer in Venezuela I haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy them again until now. I cannot remember our waiters name but he was very suggestive and helpful on our menu selections. Portions are brag worthy on your arepas.

We came here for good food and found it. I expected to eat a bunch of tequenos and ended up getting a bit of everything. Like the tequenos, everything else was quite good. Great find… and we will certainly be back.

I had never eaten Venezuelan food before. I have now been back three times and would recommend it! It is family owned and the owners are good guys, although the service is not great. The arepas and cachapas are good. Even some good vegetarian options, which I did not expect. The only thing we had which we did not like as much was the plantain appetizer — food was very good but the portion size was tiny.

I got the arepa with steak, avocado, and tomato. It was HUGE and pretty tasty. My arepa standards are pretty high, so it definitely wasn’t the best one ever but I would recommend if you’re in the area.

Loved it here, very clean and beautiful décor. The food was really good, not quite as good as my girlfriends moms cooking that I had in Venezuela but if it were a little warmer outside I could close my eyes and remember my last trip there over the holidays.

Wish I could have gave it a «0 star», but we’ll don’t have that option. Let me start be saying it’s way to pricey for the type of food they serve which usually is very common to find on the side of the road or interstate hwy in Venezuela In an openTarantin fresh and more tasty by the way. They shouldn’t charge top $$$ for corn dough which is not fresh at all, frozen tequeños pretty much everything is premade. Staff way to loud, pushy and over friendly. Far from everywhere. I would recommend them to put a counter and serve just like Chipotle or Moes(huge corn tortilla burrito w/lettuce, salsa, gucamole, beans, sour cream, beef or chicken, cheese + coke fee refills 11.50 $). 2 arepas 2 maltas 25 bucks«are you kidding me»! Wow they really know how to hurt native patrons. My wife has no saying she just loves food all together. This is a true story, Aah did I mention no refills on drinks.

Some of the best empanadas I’ve ever had. And that’s saying a lot because I’m from Miami.

Amazing! I live in the area and saw the sign, and got excited right away, arepas are one of my favorite foods! The arepa here is hot, crispy on the outside, thick and most in the inside! I had the pabellon criolo, it is very generous, saucy but still manageable and comes with cheese, black beans and 2 gorgeous golden plantains on the side which I didn’t expect and was an awesome surprise! Beautiful salsa music, authentic crafts decorating, real art on the walls, outdoor seating, friendly staff and mouth watering food! I’m surprised this place isn’t busy at lunch but it made for a peaceful meal! You won’t be disappointed, come try it! Sad that I’m moving out as they’ve just moved in, so good!

I have one word for you: cachapas The cachapas at this place are amazing! The arepas are good and they offer a great variety of fillings. To the Colombians reading this review: these are not Colombian arepas so don’t look for cheese in the masa. They have great drinks like chicha and papelon. Overall a great place

My husband and I thought this place was great! I have a lot of medical dietary restrictions(gluten/dairy/soy being the major ones) and will get sick, which I did NOT from this place! The staff made me feel safe while eating there and made great recommendations. The special Venezuelan lime soda-type drink they have is tasty, the plantains topped with meat appetizer they have is SUPER good, and the arepa’s are yummy! My husband and I want to go back to try the meal for 2 special that they have, it looked really good — but we didn’t notice it until after we ordered the appetizer and by then it would have been too much food. It looks like it is family owned and the staff all work as a team, which was great. The restaurant actually gave off a vibe of South America to my husband and I! Prices aren’t too bad, about $ 15/per person will get you full for sure! I’m really glad that that Latin American cuisine is spreading up here and I hope they keep offering & developing more dishes that are allergen free(similar to Fuego Mundo)! My husband and I finally have a go-to place nearby that is reasonably priced, has a menu that is easy to navigate with my dietary restrictions, and has food that I don’t know how to make myself — win! :)

As a Venezuelan, I was extremely excited to try this new place in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area. We I had a very disappointing experience… This has to be one of the most overpriced places in the area for what it is. I went there for lunch and I ordered an Arepa with Carne Mechada and cheese, a true Venezuelan staple. This was the most flavorless Arepa I ever had. In addition the $ 8.99 price tag was ridiculous. Totally overpriced. I expected more!!! In addition this is one of those places where you have to sit down and order your food. My wife and I ordered two arepas and the total bill with tip came out to $ 24. The restaurant is not very large and the decoration is very basic. You can tell that they did not spend a lot of money to put this place together. There were a lot of different plates in the menu that perhaps would have been worth while to try. However, I will not be going back and I doubt that it will last. My suggestion for this place would be to make the restaurant a counter service like a Chipotle or Mr Taco and lower their prices.

I’ve been to Arepita Café twice now, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each visit. Everything has always been very clean and orderly, and the staff has always been knowledgeable and cordial. I’ve tried several different varieties of the arepas and cachapas, and they’ve all been delicious(the cachapa con queso is especially great). As others have mentioned, one negative is that the items are a little bit pricey, but the food itself helps compensate for this.

Arepita’s service was friendly and quick when I dined there for lunch with a few friends. Since cachapas and arepas are traditionally«street food», I didn’t expect much from the décor but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant’s interior was clean and attractive. The tables even all had linen tablecloth and napkins. If you haven’t had cachapas before(I hadn’t), be aware that they are a bit on the rich side. Both the cachapas and the namesake arepas were very good.

I’ve been here several times now and every time it’s been pretty awesome. First, the positive: the service and food are wonderful. Very nice staff really trying hard to make sure we had a good experience. As another reviewer said, it’s really a unique cuisine for an area that’s already so full of a huge variety of cuisines, many of them very good. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious, from arepas to cachapas. The only negative is the price, which seems to be a little high. One idea would be for them to offer a combo meal with one arepa/cachapas and a side since one arepa isn’t quite enough. In any case I hope business picks up for this little place. Totally worth a visit!

Ended up walking out of this place, got there waited 20 min at the bar to get a table, they had at least 7 waitress and none them knew what they were doing. On top of that they has empty tables but none of the waitress wanted to clean them. BADCUSTOMERSERVICE… I drove 30 min to get there wasted my time .!

I have no idea why two individuals on this thread could possibly give a one star rating.. This place was extremely clean with linen table cloths and fresh flowers. I have been several times and am bringing friends this weekend to introduce them them to Arepita’s fine cuisine. I am a seasoned world traveler and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants across the globe. Ive been to Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina and enjoyed their wonderful food. This is a café which specializes in Latin dishes. There is nothing like it in the Atlanta area that I have ever found. Fresh food, all is prepared in the kitchen, even their desserts. I talked to the owner about this as I was just so delighted that I had found this place. I have tried many appetizers, Arepas and their Venezuela flan. All were excellent in flavor and balance with plenty of cheese, beef, or chicken filling. I especially liked their chicken soup with its subtle flavors. One big surprise is the reasonable price of their food. I was amazed. For two, having several shared appetizers, arepas and desserts the bill was in the $ 30 range. I would not hesitate to rate this a great place to go.

Oh boy where to begin. Let’s start with the pros: The place was easy to find. The cons: I walk in and there is food all over the floor from previous patrons. I guess cleaning it up was too much to ask. But I can get through all that for good tequenos … and that’s where my review begins and ends: I’m sorry, but I was borderline insulted at the tequenos that I was served. I received 4 small pinkie-sized tequenos for $ 6 that were obviously store-bought. And if they weren’t store-bought, then fire the chef, cause they were lukewarm and tasteless. I tried the empanadas as well but I thought all the food was very bland and extremely over-priced for what it is. I left hungry. The pictures are 100% accurate.

I really really really wanted to like this place and support my compatriots venturing into business in foreign soil but my experience dinning in wasn’t what I expected. When I first heard of this place I got pumped! I thought to myself finally I am getting a taste of home here in GA. The place is OTP and little far from home but we still made the trip because… Well… It’s Venezuelan food! The place in itself was ok. The floors were a little bit dirty but our table was clean and we were seated very quickly. Our waitress was extremely nice and recommended the house specialty drink that was nothing else than a regular«mimosa» as she called it herself after describing it. We proceeded to order a couple of the traditional Venezuelan appetizers: tequeños and empanadas. The tequeños(mozzarella sticks of a sort) tasted exactly like the tequeños I get at the local Hispanic market the only difference is these are three times the price! The empanadas were described as a trio of cheese, beef and chicken however they were out of cheese so we got two beef and one chicken instead. Again they were overpriced and under filled. You could barely see the filling. For my main dish I ordered a ham and cheese cachapa that was the size of an appetizer! It tasted like the premixed dough and had sneeze of cheese inside. Sad. Sad. Sad. I went to this place so I could feel and taste home but left missing home more than ever! I would not recommend this place and don’t intend to visit anytime soon.
