***WARNINGANDCAUTION*** POSSIBLEILLEGALACTIVITYANDFRAUD. I had dinner this evening here, my 5th and last time, and the experience that transpired here was shocking. We ate about $ 45 worth of food, which consequently was absolutely inconsistent in quality. That’s what this place lacks: consistency. When I received the bill, the subtotal was approximately $ 45 for the subtotal. Below that line where«tax» is supposed to be listed, the word«restaurant» was in its place. To the casual eye, the inference that line value shows is your tax figure of the subtotal. However, the«restaurant» line reflected a value of approximately $ 5. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that the value is more than 10% of the subtotal. The point is, they’ve already added on extra money PRETIP to your bill without telling you. Moreover, unsuspecting people assume that the $ 5 is the tax, therefore adding an ADDITONAL tip on top of the already imposed 10%! The manager was apologetic, and squarely put the blame on the owner, which is a very lame excuse and was caught in red-handed. She eventually got angry with me for noticing the rapacious practice. I asked her about all the people before me who didn’t see this sly practice put to work on their bill — people effectively were charged a surcharge to eat here — and she had no answer. Two takeaways from this experience. 1. Do not eat here as the food is inconsistent 2. If you have your itemized receipt from here, please check to see if you have that«restaurant» item after the subtotal. If it reflects more than 7% of the subtotal, go back and ask for your money back. Or, join the class action that I’m going to file. This is shameful.

I may be bias on this review because I came here a week after my trip to Italy. I loved their fried olives! — if you are an olive lover, its a must. I also got the Tigatele bolognese: the pasta was fresh! Reminded me so much of being in Italy. The meat sauce needed something more, but overall the dish was very authentic and pleasing. Negative: The service was very slow and we received our dishes lukewarm. Positive: BYOB! Will be back for buy their fresh pasta!

Thank Heavenly Father for this place, for if it did not exist, I’d have to keep on traipsing into the city for fresh, homemade pasta. You can’t even find fresh pasta in Hoboken, the home of all things Italian. There was a place across the street that recently closed down that also sold fresh pasta, but they were greedy and sold simple salads for $ 13 and marinara sauce for $ 10. And now they’re gone. Pasta Del Cuore has the BEST, most authentic marinara for $ 4.99, and although i make mine from scratch like Scott Conant, this is the closest second to mine, using DOP San Marzano tomatoes, etc. Beats anything you can get in a jar and even the so-called homemade ones that taste bland. Only reason they get 4 not 5 stars is they’re closed Mondays and I’m a greedy pasta lover who wants them to be open 7 days. That, and the staff’s a wee bit slow behind the counter, but, other than that, they rock!

Oh wait… THIS is what pasta is MEANT to taste like! I almost forgot. Thank goodness for this charming, authentic reminder of what pasta-making looks like when it’s taken back to an art form. Since they’ve opened, I’ve purchased a few different pastas to take home, and each has been crazy yummy(especially considering how kitchen un-friendly I am). Fortunately, they give you precise, no-fail prep instructions. You can feel and taste the love in everything they do here. Highly recommended.

fresh made pasta daily. Tagliatelle, ravioli, linguine.++++ great flavors,… braised short rib ravioli! I bought 2lbs of tagliatelle, 2 half lb. samples of ravioli. cooked it all for a birthday dinner for the family. All were amazed. «Best they’d ever had» They have a loyal customer now! Restaurant recently added, will try soon.

The service was great, but the food left more to be desired. The Good: 1. Dippings for bread were delicious. Eggplant/Roasted Red Pepper and Olive Oil condiments was tasty, unlike Vincent’s in Long Island where I had just dined past weekend, PDC’s olive oil were definitely extra virgin. Room for Improvement 1. Bread was stale. Like… they looked and tasted like biscottis. Even the Fococcia was stale, but these were just stale-chewy, not stale-hard-as-rock. 2. Squid Ink Pasta — Tomato Sauce was underwhelming. I wish they added… some basil or parsley or SOMETHING in this to bring out the seafood. 3. Seafood Soup — LOTS of littleneck clams and calamari. But LOTS of salt too, which killed my tastebuds. 4. Calamari — Not bad, but not the best I’ve had either. I don’t particularly like Vincent’s, which is my husband’s favorite in Long Island, but the latter definitely does this better because of their arribiata sauce… which has more dimensions in flavor. This tomato sauce they had to go with it… I dunno, just lacked the flavor profiles, it was just salty? That seems to be the theme of my review today. More constructively, if they added a dash of sugar/basil/chili pepper flakes, or something, it would’ve been better. 5. Pomodori Pasta — If they could put less salt… or NOSALT in this it would’ve been great. The sauce already had(and I knew from the menu already) capers, olives, and anchovies in it. If only they thinned-out the brine juice with water… or not salt it? The sauce would’ve been just fine but the diced tomatoes in here literally tasted like eating cubes of salt. In all, definitely giving this place another try because I want to support businesses in JC! It’s a great area and I know how hard it is to run a good restaurant here. Stay tuned for updates.

Bad: — We were seated in a corner right between the deli and a very large man, so we were pretty cramped for space even though there were a few other open tables where we should have been seated. We didn’t say anything so as not to offend the man behind us. — The décor /ambiance is pretty bland. — Our server never brought us bread with our menus. — The portions are very small for the price Good: — BYOB means that the check won’t be bad even though the food is expensive — The food tasted great. Good enough that I do plan on returning. I had the bolognese and my girlfriend had the spinach ravioli and we really enjoyed both.

I drove by Pasta Dal Cuore earlier this week, and since I’m not in that neighborhood often I’d never seen it before. My boyfriend and I love pasta so we decided to try it ASAP. We went tonight for an early dinner. The place has very small tables and firm metal chairs with IMHO really bad paintings on the walls(all for sale of course), and there was pop music playing over their speakers. Well, at least the food will be authentic Italian and hopefully very delicious. Our waitress gave us our menus, brought us bread and we had decided what we wanted a few minutes later. I decided on the Tajarin Alla Carbonara($ 15). We noticed after about 15 minutes that all the customers that had come in after us were already getting their entrees served. The manager came over and apologized for the mix up in the kitchen, and that our orders would be out soon. 40 minutes after ordering, our entrees came out. Mine was room temperature, a portion fit for a small child, and the worst part? It was bland. Because of the delay they told us dessert would be on them. When we looked at the dessert menu there was a cake that sounded good, but we were told it would take 15 minutes to prepare. What? Are they baking it for me? We went with something simple. Vanilla ice cream. They brought each of us what they call a serving. It was literally a tablespoon of vanilla ice cream in a coffee cup. That was the final nail in the coffin. We will not be back.

Went here for brunch with my wife last Saturday. They just started serving brunch two weeks ago. The typical brunch spots in Jersey City near Grove Street(Wonder Bagels, Brownstone Diner, Skinners Loft) are all packed on weekends, so I’m glad there’s another option now. I ordered an omelette with coffee, and my wife ordered a frittata with tea. Both were fresh and tasted pretty good. Service was OK, and they didn’t have salt/pepper shakers or hot sauce(which annoyed my wife). Ambience is not great — it’s dimly-lit with bland décor. However, since the food is decent and there’s no wait to be seated, we’ll definitely be going back.

Live in NY, I am in Jersey City on a regular basis for my business. Stopped by Pasta Dal Cuore the other afternoon to pick up a pound of pasta to go. Brought it home, wife made some marinara, Put a little Parmigiano Reggiano on top and WOW were we pleased. This pasta was excellent! Very light with great texture. Wife and I have traveled the world over the last 20 years. Been to Italy several times. This is truly authentic homemade pasta. It is the perfect compliment to whatever sauce you prefer Bravo!

Great pasta! upon entering, you are greeted by a case of freshly made pasta. I had a feeling this place would be a good place to carbo load at. We were attended to promptly on a Friday night by a friendly server, who then brought us a bread basket that came with a variety of bread and also breadsticks. Mmm, breadsticks. I got the squid ink linguine with stuffed calamari($ 20) that I thought was delicious. It lacked a little bit in salt, but nevertheless the pasta quality more than made up for the slight lack of saltiness. I thought the stuffed calamari was a great addition as it really gave the dish another dimension. My friend had the spinach fettucine with pesto($ 16). Apparently very tasty, according to her. The décor of the place is a little sparse and a little industrial. It feels like it should be more homey, but isn’t? Not sure if many Italian places look like this… Anyway, the food was great and I had no complaints whatsoever about the service. A solid 4 stars.

I’ve purchased pasta and i liked it so i though it was just a natural progression to be a great restaurant. We went on a Saturday and it was empty. I think they need to improve in the décor of the place, to warm up those metal chairs/tables and such a big place. We were seated promptly, the waitress cordial but new to the business si you can tell the inexperiences. The bread was cold and hard as a rock, bread sticks nice, caponata sauce bravo, olive oil i had better. We share a salad, nice size but over saturated with dressing and the arugula leaves were all damaged. Pasta portions way too small for $ 18 a dish We will give it another try and i hope it makes it but i am not impressed. In my opinion they need to improve décor, service and food.

I’ve visited this place twice and it was four star the first time and probably only three the second time. On the first visit, my friend and I shared two ravioli dishes — mozzarella in a tomato sauce and spinach ricotta in a brown butter lemon sage sauce. Both were delicious and flavorful, although the mozzarella ravioli seemed a bit flat. I’m used to a more plump stuffed ravioli. We finished with a chocolate lava cake that was quite tasty and melted — yum! On my second visit, I had a really delicious arugula salad with sun-dried tomatoes. I ordered the seasonal pasta — 3 pumpkins — and was mildly disappointed. Again, it was a bit flat and the sauce(brown butter) was quite watery, like it was soup. For dessert we had the olive oil rosemary cake, which was really nice. It had dark chocolate and just the right amount of dark chocolate. The service is friendly yet slightly awkward. This is a solid place with a few minor issues that could be hammered out to make it even better.

To start, I have no idea why this place is so highly rated. We went in last night after finding it on Unilocal. To start we wanted to try their pork tenderloin and tuna dish but the server told us they were out of it. It was 6:15 on a Thursday and the restaurant was empty so I thought that was odd. The server convinced us to order the calamari special to start which was fried calamari with lemon and mint. It was decent but tasted like many other overly lemony calamaris. For entrees, my fiancé got the Osso Bucco Ravioli which was described as a dish with pork, veal, beef, parmigiana, and cream in a ravioli. Pretty typical description of Osso Bucco. What came was an overly al denote ravioli in a vegetable ju and a ravioli center that had little flavor and was chewy. My fiancé described it perfectly in saying it tasted like a crockpot stew. I got the squid ink linguini with shrimp and stuffed calamari in a Pinot Grigio sauce. It came out in a tomato broth that was spicy — not a white wine fish stock. Further, the shrimp was definitely frozen and flavorless. The stuffed calamari had a weird mealy breadcrumb mush that was cold. The server had no idea what he was talking about and we could hear him at other tables describing a puttanesca as a white sauce, «pie» muscles… Not good. This place needs MAJOR work.

Couldn’t wait to pay a visit to this establishment and see what they have to offer. Seems as if they just opened the restaurant portion of few months ago and still working out some kinks. Mostly on the service side, out waitress was really nice but just had some awkward moments throughout the dinner, but nothing where it would make me not want to come back. The food tho. the food was so delicious! You are given some bread along with olive oil to start and we ordered the meatballs as an app and must say they were super delicious. They were tender and the sauce that came with it was absolutely delish. I asked for extra bread just to soak it up! I ordered the raviolis as my entrée and they were perfectly cooked the tomato sauce was full of flavor and the portion size was just right. I cant wait to come back and try other dishes as well. Definitely a fan of this place.

So I saw a review that caused me to reconsider my choice of getting a reservation at Pasta Dal Cuore with neighbor couples.(John B — 2 stars) Am I glad I went.
First we experienced none of the problems with the service that John did — thankfully. The food was wonderful. We all had appetizers and pasta entrees. The pasta is all homemade owner and available for purchase at the little deli case in the front of the store I even bought a pound of tagliatelle to go. And the chef was brought here from Rome. This place is new so it’s possible it may be experiencing some growing pains. But not the night we were there.

I already love pasta in general, but homemade pasta at a hidden JC gem is even better! We stumbled upon this restaurant on a busy Saturday night. After having been turned down by no fewer than three(!!!) restaurants for overbooking/supply shortages, we were so glad that the staff here welcomed us with open arms. Please note it is BYOB! Armed with a red wine, we tucked into the delicious complimentary rustic bread, olive oil and eggplant with capers. Incredibly delicious. We opted for the meatball and croquette appetizers, the spinach/feta ravioli and the pesto pappardalle. The food was amazing, although it did take a very long time to come out. I would suggest that the restaurant use a teeny bit more salt and herbs to the pasta, as a strong flavor is always something customers will remember. Fantastic experience here!

Walked in and was greeted and then awkwardly seated. The place was half empty and it still took a small deliberation between the two ladies on where to sit us. This was followed up by another extremely awkward situation where the waitress kept acting really weird when she was at the table. When one of us ordered something, she questioned us about ordering it, and gave a weird look. She actually looked very confused the entire time we were there and couldn’t answer questions well at all. Just 2 of us, and and a ½ empty place of very few table anyway, and we waited 45 minutes for an appetizer. Meanwhile 2 tables of 4 that came in 10 – 15 minute after us were already done with their appetizers. Another woman who seemed a little higher up in the pecking order at the restaurant had finally coming over during this long wait and said she noticed we were waiting long. I said — yeah — these other 4-tops have been here much shorter than us and they are done with their appetizers. She goes on to say that they are not used to have this many tables of 4 at once. I’m not exactly sure what this had to do with us, but actually just frustrated us more because there was clear disconnect between the waitstaff and customers. When my Ravioli dinner finally came out, it was as hard as a rock. I get that its authentic Italian and you want it to be al dente, but c’mon — you had an hour to make my raviolis and couldn’t even have a little moisture in them? I’m so very disappointed! With all of the great reviews, and my love for homemade pasta, I thought this was a sure bet. I even tried to will myself to love it. I was all ready to order a bunch of homemade pasta to take home in fact. But because of the in-restaurant experience, that all went out the window. I don’t even think I’d be willing to give it a second try unfortunately.

Came for dinner with 6. Easy and prompt reservations. really enjoyed the appetizers. the avocado goat cheese arugula salad was really good balance and nice creamy goat cheese. Meatballs were really great flavor. The fried rice ball was meaty savory and crunchy yet still light in flavor. The gnocchi was so light and airy and melted in your mouth. The carbonara and linguini Neri was really good. The desserts… Check out the photo. Just amazing! Some of the best desserts I ever had. Service was also A+. BYOB also a great plus. Can’t wait to come back.

I absolutely am in LOVE with Pasta Dal Cuore! Best quality fresh pasta in Jersey City hands down(and I won’t mention names here but I enjoy this pasta better than other major competitors in downtown JC). My favorite is the decadent rich egg pasta(prices are very reasonable) and fresh housemade pesto sauce($ 9 for a pint size is so worth the $$! It’s incredible). I got to sample the whole wheat mushroom ravioli thanks to the super friendly staff at the counter that I took home and cooked and I am loving it. Officially a hooked regular … Just a shame it’s bikini season. That won’t stop me though! Very friendly staff, excited for their restaurant expansion, new additions to the market and later hours. I’ll give a definite 5 star!!! Hidden gem in JC! Woo hoo! Thanks Pasta Dal Cuore!
