Right across from Exchange Place Path station is the EMP. I was working in the area and wanted to try something different. After checking Unilocal,I see that they have a buffet bar to choose your own dishes. I usually like to try a variety of dishes so I gave this place a shot. On the side of the store you can order sandwiches, salads, and grill items. I decided to try the buffet bar that has many items for you to choose from. They had plain white rice, fried rice, lo– mein noddles, fried shrimp, grill chicken, pasta, beef briskets, meatballs, vegetables, and others. I took a little of each to fill my go plate. When I got to the counter I was shock at the price I had to pay. It was $ 8.79 per pound, so I ended with a pound and a quarter or so. Total damage was 14 bucks for lunch. Ouch! I don’t mind paying for good food, but the items I tasted wasn’t that spectacular. Pasta was dry, fried shrimp over cooked, and the fried rice was oily. Overall, I was not impressed with the food and price. The hot food item buffet is overprice for what they are offering. Overall, I might have to try the deli or salad bar the next time if I decide to come back.

One of the best hot food buffet options in the area. Good variety of foods here, especially in the hot buffet. I recommend the chicken cutlets, the sesame chicken and the pastas/lasagnas. There’s also a salad bar and a deli section where you can get sandwiches made, as well as a sushi bar in the back. Very good selection of beverages. There’s also ample seating upstairs for you to enjoy your food in comfort.

I work around the area, and come here whenever I have a particular craving for something greasy that I can’t find anywhere else nearby(think Chinese food, udon noodles, etc.). I’ve only eaten from their self-serve area and the udon stand that’s all the way in the back. Nothing that will blow your taste buds away, nothing that will disgust you. I’d give it a 2.5 stars if I could!

This place is right across the street from my job, so I go there out of convenience. Its your typical Bodega looking buffet place so it pretty much meets my expectation of eating food thats been sitting out, at you own risk. if you go at lunch its way too packed and some of the cashiers say«NEXT» before you even get your credit card back in your wallet, super rude, I mean I get it, you’re busy, but give me 2 seconds to gather my things and go. I have ad a gnat in my food once and a co-worker has seen roaches on the counter so again, like I said, its you’re run-of the mill creep ass buffet place.

The place was closed yesterday by the New Jersey Department of Sanitation. As I work in the building that houses the deli, it does have a reputation among workers here as being unclean. The fruit and hard boiled eggs they have at the salad bar are served at close to room temperature. Also, the yogurt — even though it’s in a cooler — often is close to room temperature. We were all shocked, though, to see the health department come in and close the place before lunch service yesterday. But, I guess things were really that bad down there.

One of the best lunch places I have ever been. You will never get bored in terms of menu. I have never seen a place like this. There is a salad bar which has about 40 different choices — vegetarian and meat. They also have a sushi bar, Chinese food and shawarma options. All under one roof. The pricing is based on weight of the salad plate. The pricing is reasonable for what you can get. For lunch, make sure you arrive before 12pm or else the line up is huge.

This business is breaking the rules of both VISA and MasterCard by requireing minimum charges of $ 5 on use of theses cards. It’s not illegal, but is against the rules of the credit and debit card companies. Unless you enjoy subsidising this places’ cost of doing business — beyond the normal mark-up on food that they of course build into their prices — everyone should take the 5 minutes it requires to file complaints about this business. I will never do business with them again.

The hidden gem at this place is the grilled chicken udon soup all the way in the back. Large portions loaded with chicken, veggies & udon noodles. Get the spice for an added kick. I’m seriously addicted and have been told i need an intervention!

The friendliest and most attentive staff I know! This company is on the main floor of my office so the convenience of having just about any food I like right downstairs is so nice. The food always tastes great and the cashiers and cooks know me by name because I’m there so often! The selection is outstanding, from sandwiches to a hot buffet, to sushi and burgers. You can find just about anything you like here!

Great buffet selection, nice and clean, perfect for lunch. Gets pretty busy for lunch, and rightfully so…

So, today I saw a COCKROACH having a grand old time in the buffet tray of onion rings. If you see 1, you know there are 100 more you don’t see. I immediately put my container of food down and went elsewhere. It’s a shame as I work in the building and this place was convenient. ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTED!

Standard deli. Nothing special. Sandwiches, salads station, and salad/hot food bar running down the middle of the store. Not many deli options in the area so the salad/hot food bar is pretty picked over by 1/1:30. Noodle station in the back. My assumption is that these are the same people who owned the deli on Montgomery at Greene. If so, then the noodles should be a sure bet.

Coffee Nazi, breakfast short order cooks who have to be told 5 times what you want and get it wrong EVERYTIME, overpriced EVERYTHING, and most importantly, please go to Youtube and type in 10 Exchange Marketplace for the final nail in the coffin. (Yes, it does appear that the worker is trying to smother the cockroach with the food).

Ok, so maybe the food is not top chef quality, but it sure is plentiful and delicious. As all buffets priced by weight, you need to be careful not to take too much of the mashed potato or the sauces that add a lot of weight for little food. When it comes to «by the weight» food, the best is to pack up on the proteins(meats). Veggies usually carry a lot of water and that adds empty weight to your plate. If you are not looking for the buffet style food, there are also many stations to get your own sandwiches and other foods like sushi. This place pretty much covers all flavors, from meats, sandwiches, Chinese food, burritos, veggies, fruit bar, soups. I also like the fact that they have a second floor to sit and relax as you eat your… well, to be honest… a bit over priced food. Not a date type place, it’s a great place for breakfast and lunch.

If you are as lazy as I am and time is important, this place is fast but always packed and right for you. Typical Korean salad bar charges by weight. Build you own salad is good, sandwiches are also good. Really fast but really crowded.

Jersey City has a pretty weak catering scene, but this place kills it. Exceptional customer service and great quality. I heart Exchange Market.

I’ve stopped in here for lunch(expensive pay-by-the-pound) and for breakfast at their grill area, usually for an egg sandwich on a roll. Not bad, typical deli food. I’ve had eggshells a few times in my sandwiches, so I always feel like I’m playing roulette just by ordering… don’t know if I’ll get a special crunchy today or not. Drink selection is pretty awesome, I like how they have alternative drinks(like kombucha… which I will NOT try again. if you’re into all the specialty teas, this stuff is fermented… so tastes like a bad beer and leaves you full like you don’t need to eat again) and some Stevia sweetener drinks(much much better than kombucha; light, sweet, and tastes like vitamin water). Sushi counter is usually fresh. No complaints about it. Good for if you’re in a pinch and in the area… it’s a food wasteland in the JC waterfront, although there IS a Potbelly open now, so it’s slowly improving.

Options, options as this deli has many choices of prepared foods on-the-go. A gargantuan salad bar of cold and hot prepared foods of nearly all imaginable genres: Japanese sushi, Asian dumplings, Chinese Lo mein, beets, loads of varies greens and sold by the pound in typical deli style. Of bankrupt prices, it is of one’s choice to choose more or less on your plate per pound. I came here for a bottle of water at $ 1.30 prior to the long haul journey on the road from NJ/NY to Philadelphia. Customer service is robotic anesthetized to aloof patrons for a greeting when ringing orders.

This is one of the better lunch places in Jersey City. I give it 3 stars because it’s still Jersey City — if there were options, I might not go here. That being said, this market is clean. There are a ton of cash registers so there is rarely a wait to pay. The sushi is fresh and good with generous portions. The salad bar is fresh. The salad area where you pick the bowl of lettuce and the counter person makes the salad is very good with a lot of good dressing options. What is even nicer is that the salad never exceeds $ 9 no matter how heavy(note — not the salad bar). The breakfasts are yum, the omelets are good as are the muffins. If you are(stuck) in Jersey City for lunch, this is a nice option.

This is a good place to escape from the expensive hotel breakfast I thought but I made a mistake when I went for the salad bar buffet. When you go in to the store, you don’t really see the price per LBS sign for the salad bar and I got grabby because the fruits looked so fresh and delicious. I went to the cashier in the back of the store to pay, and then my fruit breakfast was like more than $ 8! I turned around towards the Salad Bar and then saw the sign for the first time«Salad Bar $ 7.59LBS». Bagels were very reasonable. Toasted bagel with butter was $ 1. Coffee, they have so many kinds. I liked the chocolate almond flavor coffee. I still ended up paying much less than I would have if I ate at the hotel I was staying, Hyatt Regency Jersey City.
