Don’t get confused with the signs that say A Plus deli … They’re the same spot. The highlight of this corner shop near the Grove St PATH station are their sandwiches. Prices are fair(make sure they ring you up right), and the sandwiches are delicious. My go-to are the barbecue chicken or grilled chicken on a hero(sub) or roll. The roll and subs are good quality and the deli meats are boars head if you go that way. They also got a good selection of deli side dishes if you want something to go along with your sandwich. They also got typical bodega goods — packaged stuff, milk, juice etc. Also — they are CASHONLY… But have an ATM conveniently if you want to use it.

I’m accustomed to the New York price of deli heros so when I came here through recommendations by Unilocal Elites I was not only pleasantly surprised at the price… $ 5 for a hero. Say WHAT? I ordered the Honey Maple Turkey with all the toppings on it too. Man did I needed that sandwich after all the booze I had that night. I went through that like knife through butter. EASY. The meats was good quality. The sandwich was well made and the toppings were obviously fresh. This might very well be the cheapest late night eats I’ve had in a while next to my apple pies at Mcdonald’s. Say WHHHATT?

If you’ve been drinking you should be thinkin’ A-1! Wow, now that I’ve penned that bit of literary genius I can call it a day! This is a great deli in JC that is open 24⁄7 and makes awesome sandwiches. My mozzarella sandwich was ginormous and $ 4.50. $ 4.50 for a hero with good quality mozzarella, all the fixings, and the deli guy made it like he was Flash Gordon. What more could you want?

It’s just your everyday, ordinary deli serving extraordinary sandwiches. Located conveniently on the corner of Grove Street by the Path, A-1 Delicatessen is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. I’ve been here a few times for a late-night ‘snack’, but their sandwiches are far from being the light meal. They sell basic packaged food items and beverages, but the highlight is the sandwiches. They load an incredible amount of whatever you order and will not skimp. There are options such as chicken cutlet, turkey, ham, tuna salad, etc. The selection of basic meats such as turkey and ham is great, ranging from pepper, honey to mesquite. The smoked turkey, ham, swiss with lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard on whole wheat is my go-to order. It sounds rather simple, but the layers of meat they pack together make for one of the thickest sandwiches. It is borderline ridiculous. The lettuce is also shredded nice and thinly. This is all for the cost of less than $ 6. One may want to skip the Subway next door in favor of A-1. The pricing is similar, but the sandwiches are much, much better here. At any hour of the day, the service remains the same. Their preparation is consistent at all hours, even late night. The staff is friendly for the most part. Even the drunkest fool who rolls in is guaranteed to stumble out with one of best sandwiches ever.

Tastes just like momma made it! Was having a rough/busy day and totally craving a homeschool turkey Sammy. This sandwich exceeded my expectations. The turkey was fresh sliced and phenomenal.(Not that gooey, processed stuff you get in a package or shady deli) I saw the clerk slice the turkey right onto my sandwich! The rolls are light, fluffy and tasty. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
