I must say I always past this place all the time and I finally stop to get some doubles and I have to say they were the BEST dam doubles I ever had. The owner was also very very welcoming and attentive. I will be returning very regularly. I love this place

Really good doubles, reminded me of being back in Trinidad. I read good reviews and ratings of this place and knew I had to try it since I was in the area. Next time gotta come back for even more doubles and alloo pie

A Great selection of trinidadian dishes. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and it was raining. I ordered a goat roti. It was tender and it warms you. The only con here is the high prices. The majority of the prices are of $ 7 – 9 dollars. Overall it was a nice experience.

I just wanted to try a few items since I bought a ton of other food. This place was really clean, didn’t expect that. It was empty when we got there in the afternoon, so we didn’t have to wait. I could smell the curry as I was walking in, smelled so good… We got 4 Doubles and 1 Aloo Pie. 1 – 2 of these are pretty filling. The flavors were great, I wasn’t sure of all the ingredients since I got them with everything, but wow. it was so good. It was sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, which helped with the heat. The flat bread was soft, not greasy. It was a bit too spicy for L and I gave a lil to his nephew; he said he could handle the heat, but yeah it did pack a kick, in a good way… it was so good, it cured his headache. I loved the curried chick pea mixture. The prices are fantastic. Im definitely going to try their curry next time.

Ima keep this one short and sweet cause I have places to go and people to do. Anita’s Roti Shop is clean and inviting. The Soca playing and the«A» grade on the glass helps if you’re into that sort of thing or are as fastidious as I am. I wish y’all could smell how awesome it did as I walked in. Orders of chicken bush-up-shut(dhalpuri roti), doubles(flat bread with chickpeas) and a currents roll were made. The currents roll: I would like to pay them to take it back. The doubles: Just like you’d get on a Saturday morning in San-Juan Market, East Trinidad! Absolutely divine! Bara and channa right consistency both! Now as much as I ain’t no roti connoisseur I’ve had East indian in me so there’s that! This roti did not make the cut. We may differ slightly or a lot but here’s my breakdown; The curry was curry in color only. I could not taste any curry girl! The seasoning was done as if it were for stew chicken rather than curry. The dhalpuri was more on the rubbery side. It looked good, it really looked good with all the burns a skin usually gets when it’s made using an authentic tawa but it really wasn’t soft enough. It could have been any manner of pita bread I was eating. Anita, I love your shop and if I’m ever in the area I’ll be back for doubles and Trini snacks. The Long Island and environs roti hunt is on! The End.

My family’s from the Caribbean, so naturally I love the food. Anita’s however makes the best roti I’ve tasted so far(besides homemade by the family) and it’s always the same brand of deliciousness whenever I order from there. I usually have it with curry chicken but I could eat it plain like bread I love it that much! You’ll find me here very often.

Walked here after borrowing some books from the Central Library and reading some Unilocal reviews. THISPLACEISAWESOME! I ordered a doubles with everything, an aloo pie with everything and a Chicken Roti. The doubles and aloo pie were jam packed with channa and the pepper sauce gives it a nice punch. I was stuffed after the aloo pie. For $ 1.25/$ 1.50, you just can’t go wrong with these things. Not greasy at all, hearty and packed full of flavor. Will have the chicken roti in a few hours… so stuffed… Anita is one of THE nicest and coolest shop owners you’ll ever meet. She makes sure your order comes out right and you’ll feel right at home. Highly recommended!

Tiny trini spot putting out rotis and doubles that are fresh and well seasoned. Just had aloo pie with salt fish, topped off with some tamarind, kuchela, cucumber relish and slight, slight pepper! Wooohooo — that’s about as good as it gets! Shrimp roti is outstanding too! The coconut drops and currant rolls are good, but not quite on par with Brooklyn classics like Allan’s. Still, the best Trini food in Queens right now, and giving Brooklyn meccas like Ali’s a run for their money! Great addition to the neighborhood…

Great food and fantanstic service. Anita makes everything fresh daily. One of the best Jerk Chicken I ever had. If you are a potatoe salad lover, this is a must try! Never had anything like it before. Everything is well seasoned in great depth. If you never had Trinidadian Food before this is the joint to be!

A hidden Gem, the establishment is clean & well stock with a variety of West Indian food. Today I came for the doubles some people may ask what is a doubles? Doubles is a sandwich made with two bara(flat fried bread) filled with channa(curried chick peas). Topped with mango, shadon beni, cucumber, coconut, tamarind, and extra pepper sauce. I ordered 3 doubles 2 with all the toppings &1 with just chick peas for $ 1.25 each. Anita the owner a sweet lady with a welcoming vibe. Perfect«On The Go Food» … First I ate the 1 with just chick peas the flat bread still warm, soft & moist. The curry chick peas perfectly seasoned, I felt one with the doubles. Next Doubles with all the fixings, toppings was a little sweet but the pepper sauce added the perfect balance with that heat! Very satisfied after just eating 2 I was already full. I just couldn’t help myself I ate the 3rd one, now I am officially stuffed with a smile. I will definitely return with a empty stomach, ready for a taste of more West Indian cuisine!

I ordered a Aloo Pie and Beef Roti with Dhal. The Aloo Pie was bigger than usual American Pie and it is also very cheap, $ 1.25. The Beef Roti is a must try. It is very delicious. The foods are overall very delicious and clean. Also the workers, ladies, were very nice and polite. Delicious food and great service. Love it :)

Got the shark(1 large piece = $ 5), cod, and ‘pumkin’. Everything = $ 8 Food was seasoned well and looked just as good. Downside is; my food wasn’t hot. While everything looked great in the restaurant, I wasn’t able to guess how long everything had been sitting. I’ll be back.

Just came in recently to have some doubles which were heavenly. I didn’t want mine to be spicy, but I tried my husband’s and it was delicious with the cucumber relish and tamarind sauce. Next time, I’m getting spicy doubles. Ahhh when traveling so far, my hubby and I decided to make it worthwhile, so we also added a dahl puri(roti with peas) to our order. It comes with a side, and we opted on pumpkin. The lady who was working when we came in was super friendly and nice. She knew the names of regular customers and was accommodating to our needs. I would definitely come back.

This place is awesome for quality West Indian Trinidadian food. 1. The ladies are very patient at explaining the dishes available 2. Everything served is prepared in house, even the sorrel and mauby drinks 3. Extensive menu with dishes not seen at other West Indies restaurants with weekend specialty items 4. Excellent price for the quality and portions Items enjoyed: 1. Curried crab– holy mother of god. One customer had suggested it and so I tried it. Wow! Delish! The crab pieces were meaty as well! Not overly spicy either. Definitely will get again 2. Curried chicken roti– delish and the size of my head! A large roti stuffed with a dry lentil mix, then jam packed with chicken curry(beware of bones) and about 4 condiments of hot pepper sauce, sweet chutney, a cucumber relish and a mango relish. Delish 3. Assortment platter– this I kind of had them make on the fly as there were several things I wanted to try. Rice and peas– well done, you could see the sprigs of thyme contained within! Stewed cassava– mild in flavor, good if u like cassava Oxtail-my bro really wnjoyed Curried shrimp-I wasn’t too keen on the quality of the shrimp Taro root dessert thing-not my thing Sorrel-Delicious! This drink was completely homemade and had a fresh ginger taste Mauby-I always like trying something new. This drink is made from a tree that is grown in the Caribbean. It imparts a very bitter flavor that is also sweet. I think it’s more of an acquired taste.
