This place is awesome! My family is from Trinidad and when I go here it’s like I went home. The owner is so sweet and sharp as whistle. I think if you never tried Caribbean food with indian influence then you must try S & A. They are one of my favorite places to eat. A diamond in the rough for sure.

The food is great, they are pricey and the service sucks! They messed up my order at least three different times!

Maybe the best Indian place I have ever been to in the US! Maybe I am a West Indian food lover and didn’t know it! Or maybe this woman who is maybe owner/manager is just amazing! Everything we had was incredible! Not too spicy, so tasty, and filling too. Not that expensive and she threw in all kind of extra and free stuff. The roti is the absolute best I’ve had in this country, comparing only to the best I’ve ever had in Singapore. The pumpkin dish and seafood are excellent!

Committing to four stars based on my first experience is something I’d like to do, but I will not do as of yet. I zipped in quickly as I was on a tight schedule, I gave the woman behind the counter the worst possible line on restaurant history. «I’m not sure, whatever you recommend.» Talk about getting taken to the cleaners. Every item on the menu was priced between 7.00 and 10.00, how did my bill reach 15.00 on one order, with no drink? Is it just me? Or does that she a touch out of alignment? Yes, I was gifted with a small plate of what was being prepared for my lunch that had my mouth bursting into flames, but I’ve never dropped that on the typical 7″: round tin with the clear plastic top. I’m almost hesitant bro go back after that fleecing as I know myself enough to know that I’d ask kindly, get a quick reply and elevate it to an argument as I am clearly I’m the right on this one. Uuuugh…

Every morning I always try to get an Aloo-Pie with everything inside. It has a spicy kick to it. The owner is a nice woman that always greet you with a smile. She actually prepares the food and help serve it as well. I prefer her making my aloo-pie because she makes it just right for me with enough channa and aloo.

Wow. Wow. Wow. So I came in and announced that it was my first time here– I’m a fan of the cuisine but I had never been here. The guy behind the counter called out a woman from the back telling her«first time». She proceeded to ask me what I liked(everything) and my spice level(medium) and she prepared me the most delicious plate of roti, curry and vegetables. OMG… the pumpkin. A definite return.

Love this place, service is exceptional and owners are such nice people that you wouldn’t think twice to go back. Usually get my breakfast here Saturday mornings, and my favorite is the pachownie and sada roti, so damn delicious. Highly recommend.

Stopped by here on the way back from a day trip to the Rockaways with a few friends. We all loved it. The appetizers and sauces were great, and the owner Savi is incredibly friendly, genuinely warm and clearly loves her food and takes a lot of pride in satisfying her customers. We had a wonderful mix of bussup rotis with oxtail, duck, and chicken. The mango, potato and pumpkin filling combination was perfect. Great spot, hope to come back soon!

On may 16 I came here and the vibe seems very nice. But I was wrong. I was new and wanted to try some good roti so a short lady gave me the worst customer service ever. When I tried to order she have me a nasty attitude like what you want!!! Attitude. I was asking about the food items and she Gave me a look like I was stupid and to make it better she did not give me the knowledge of the food items and I was rushed to get the order finished. What bad customer service so I left. Why invest to a business and get bad customer service. There are other roti places that give better customer service. And the worst part is that this is my first time wanted to try this place out. I hope the customer service gets better

Best roti I’ve ever had. The roti is soooo fresh and soft. The curry corn was given to me and it was AMAZING. The owner is so sweet. She made sure my mother, brother, and I were well assisted. ONLYCOMETOTHISROTISHOPIFYOU’RELOOKINGFORSOMEAWESOMEFOOD!!! she also let me try a couple of other things in the menu and I will deff. Make the trip to have more of that curry corn x3

Traveled all the way from DC to NYC to find some authentic Trinidadian cuisine – mom was craving some down home trini food. With all of the choices for Caribbean eats in Queens, we had high expectations and we didn’t want to be disappointed. After all, we drove 5 hrs with 2 kids under 2. We decided on S&A and so happy we did. What didn’t we order? The doubles were as close as I’ve had outside of the doubles truck in trini, the aloo pie took me right back to Trinidad, the duck and goat curry both were delicious and we order 4 bus-up-shot for the road. Even the bake shark was fresh and delicious. I was so impressed. Of course, what made the experience even sweeter was the kind owners– so friendly and genuine, really made it all worth our while. Thx for a rewarding dining experience and we WILL be back for more!

I live in Harlem and will gladly make the trek to Richmond Hill to enjoy food from S&A. The owners are super nice and willing to let you sample anything. They have an extensive vegetarian menu. They also have a good variety of Trini AND Guyanese dishes and prepare both equally well. My cousin put me on to S&A as I was lamenting one day about the dearth of good and authentic doubles in Queens. Most doubles are too greasy for me and lack flavor. Enter S&A– their doubles are so good it reminds me of eating hot doubles from a roadside stand in Trinidad. I have also had the shrimp curry, roti, polourie, aloo pie, egg ball and potato ball. Clearly, I have never met a carb I didn’t like ;) Dishes can be made as spicy or not as you prefer. I always get extra pepper and their extra hot pepper sauce is the truth. I know you are wondering why they got five stars. Easy! The food is authentic West Indian, the owners are super nice and make their food with love, everything I’ve had was prepared fresh(not reheated), variety of condiments and excellent pricing for the portions you receive. The shop also sells snacks like Kiss Cake(!), Big Foot and my personal fave Tunnock’s Caramel. Basically, I can’t think of any cons. I can’t wait for my next monthly visit :)

What a wonderful restaurant! We live in Jackson Heights, but make a point of coming here with friends whenever we can(which is much less often than we’d like). The food is absolutely incredible, We’ve tried everything from the baiganee(eggplant fritters) and pelau to the roti and the curries(shrimp, chicken, goat, and a knock-out mango), and it is *all* delicious, with great condiments and homemade drinks(sorrel, ginger) to boot. And Savi, who not only produces much of this miraculous food but also works the counter, is an angel. She asks us about our tastes and custom-tailors multi-course feasts for us; she is always warm and gracious no matter how busy the restaurant may be; and she treats us, and our children, like guests in her home. Tonight she even took the time to help my 6-year-old son choose a treat to buy with his own allowance!(Oh, yeah; they also sell a whole bunch of delightful Trinidadian candies and snacks — some of which Savi also makes herself!) If you like West Indian food, come here. If you like *food*, come here. It’s basically a bit of heaven on Liberty Avenue.

The jerk chicken wasn’t as smoky as I usually like it, but the hot sauce added to it was quite interesting and different(not jerk sauce.) The doubles is an excellent spicy/sweet selection. I liked the availability to vegetable rice as a chance to take a(brief) break from rice and peas.

This was my first time in this restaurant and omg this place is amazing! The staff are so friendly and helpful. This was my first time trying West Indian food and so I had a lot of questions. At the time it was just one lady working and no matter how busy she was she had a smile on her face and answered all my questions with patience! The food was delicious! I tired a bit of everything. I had the roti and a plateful of different types of veggie curry(Channa, pumpkin-my all time favorite) and more. Aloo pie is a must try! Was definitely pleased and will be coming back again.
