To be honest with every one i think this is the best breakfast place in all Jacksonville and the cleanest, very good food one of the old design places which is perfect.

Loved this place. Plenty of seating and not too noisy. Food was wonderful as was the coffee. I had the banana pecan pancakes which was a huge portion(breakfast for 2 days after!). My husband had the southern omelet and said it was delicious as well. Definitely will visit again — it was nice to not be rushed out!

My families first and LAST time here. This place is NOT better than Metro Diner! You go to a counter to order and they give you a number if it’s for eat-in. I ordered the Village Monte Cristo of which consist of the following: two slices of soggy French Toast with very, very cold deli ham, turkey, unmelted Swiss cheese yet, the maple syrup was hot. One cut into it and I was disgusted by it. Breakfast already RUINED! If only on the menu it would’ve said that the deli meat was cold and the bread would come out so soggy I would not have ordered it but moved on to something else more appealing. Everyone else that I was with did not enjoy their breakfast either. We never saw our waitress after the food was bought to our table. There was no good customer service as others have described in their reviews. Maybe we came on an off day but regardless in this business there should always be consistency no matter who is or is not working. I will NOT recommend this place but inform others to try at THEIROWNRISK! This place may have been good a year a go according to the time stamp on the other awesome reviews. Now they are yucky!!!

Breakfast, brunch or lunch, they are all fabulous at Village Bread. The service is fast and friendly and the food is great. My fave is the cinnamon raisin French toast. The only time I was disappointed here was when they were out of corn beef so I couldn’t have a Rueben. It can get VERY busy so you may have to wait for a seat but it’s worth it.

Awesome food. Took a party of 6 with kids and the food was great. Chocolate pancakes for the kids and great choices for the adults. I actually went back up for dessert. Prices were reasonable and the wait wasn’t long. They have privacy screens for a larger groups and the ambience was excellent.

I not only love this place for the food but I recently had an outstanding experience with customer service here. Let me start off by saying that I work in the plaza right across the road from Village Bread. Normally, I stop in there before I go to work to grab a to-go coffee. On this particular day, I decided to order a breakfast sandwich. They handed me my coffee and breakfast to go and I went on to work. Once I got to work and opened the to-go box, it was the wrong order. I had ordered a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and there in the box was an omelet. I couldn’t leave work, so I called Village Bread and explained the situation. I asked if they could bring me the new(and correct) order since I was right next door. Not only did they agree to deliver my food to me without any hesitation, but they also gave me two breakfast sandwiches! I was absolutely blown away at how great the customer service was! I ended up giving the other sandwich to my coworker, but I still thought it was awesome how they went above and beyond for a customer. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming every time I’ve visited. I will now always be a Village Bread customer.

As others have said the food is ok, just nothing spectacular to me.(Disclaimer– I’m not the biggest breakfast food lover either) I have eaten here a few times and each time it’s always just ehhh ok… This last trip I got the Monte Cristo… which was a sandwich made with French Toast with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese melted in the middle served with maple syrup on the side… sounds great right?! Well no… it came out kinda slopped together where I had to open it up and move the meats around so every bite would have all ingredients, and it just didn’t taste that good? Also it looked so boring I didn’t even take a pic, it just looked brown(I think they used whole wheat toast?) and sad… lol Maybe this spot is for more breakfast lovers cause the others in our party liked it, and it was very busy on Sunday morning!

The place has a funny smell, the floor was sticky but the skillet was good and the staff was nice. I can’t return to a place that’s nasty. I’m surprised I ate there in the first place.

My sister and I had a little time to kill, so we decided to have lunch here today. So glad we did. I liked it better than the Metro Diner! I had their French dip sandwich and it was awesome. It was served on soft ciabatta bread and the roast beef was perfect, none of that weird flavoring that comes in a lot deli roast beef, just good beef. My sister had the Reuben and said it was the best she’d ever had. We bought some of the pastries to go, the cannoli was yummy. The strudel I have mixed feelings about, it was good, just too many nuts, I would have preferred just apples. The tea and salads were top notch too. It was all in all a great meal and we’ll go back.

This place always has good eats and we get served quickly. I always go with my boyfriend and his father, and his father is a regular and they definitely honor that. The portions are good for the price and you don’t feel gross after it.

This is one of the hidden lunch gems in mandarin. You must try the bread pudding! Everything I have tried has been incredible. The chicken salad is also delicious!

Nice place for breakfast and conversation. Relaxing music and good food. The village skillet was so good hot eggs and fresh grilled veggies.

The service was efficient and friendly. My breakfast was mediocre in taste. A large portion of food was given.

I really enjoy dining at this café. THERESTAURANT It is clean, spacious, and casual. This is a place to meet a friend, bring the family, or enjoy coffee and the newspaper solo. You order at a register and then find a seat; your meal is served at the table. Once you’re done, leave your plates(& a tip!) at the table. THESERVICE Everyone is so nice at this location. They are always willing to have a nice conversation with me and while seated someone usually visits the table to be sure that I’m happy. Today Kelly was at the restaurant and he was engaging in conversation with the patrons. He asked people what they ordered, how they liked it, and seemed to be pleased with all of their responses. He visited my table before and during my meal — first to just say hi & asked what I ordered, and later to see me mowing through my food & make sure that I was enjoying every bite. THEFOOD Breakfast or lunch — you are the master of this menu! My husband loves the banana-pecan French toast while I have been enjoying their veggie sandwich lately. We have tried multiple menu items & have been happy with all of them. If we are feeling naughty, then we pick up one of their HUGE brownies or cookies. The meals at Village Bread Café are flavorful and presented nicely. Expect to spend ~$ 8.00/meal and a little more if you order a drink and sweet treat. :)

That said, I was in the area for a doctor’s appointment and after a failed attempt at breakfast at Whole Foods(no hot breakfast out at 9am?), I remembered Village Bread Café. The store itself is pretty big, lots of tables and space. You walk in and order then they bring your food to you(ala Panera). The breakfast menu is pretty big so it took me some time to decide. I finally decided to go with«village skillet.» The menu description is: All skillets come with grilled tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms with hash browns covered in melted cheese and two eggs cooked your way. Village Skillet($ 7.45) All of the above plus the meat of your choice: Applewood smoked bacon, deli ham, or country sausage. I went with bacon and toast on the side. The food came out pretty quickly and was hot and perfect. I got my eggs scrambled and the eggs sat on top of the hashbrowns, veggies, and bacon. The serving size is pretty large and they didn’t skimp on anything! Big chunks of bacon and veggies and I liked that you could tell the cheese was fresh, shredded cheese and the eggs were really eggs(I hate places that try to pass off something out of a carton as eggs). The food was delicious and really filling. In the interest of full disclosure, the man who runs Village Bread is a former boss of mine. He came out to chat with me for a bit and brought me an éclair(as if I needed more to eat!). Unfortunately I couldn’t finish all of it but the éclair was incredible. They make the baked goods in store and you can tell. The éclair was huge but a nice way to finish a big breakfast. The staff was super friendly and full of energy(not the case everywhere first thing in the morning!) I’m looking forward to checking out lunch at Village Bread Café but this is a great place for a nice, casual breakfast where you can take your time and really enjoy the food.

I’ve only ever eaten the breakfast options at Village Bread Café and while I’ve never had anything bad they aren’t exactly spectacular either. Basically, if you’re looking for a good meal that will fill you up, this is the place to go. On 2 different visits I had the Spinach and Feta omelet with hash browns, bacon and toast. Yesterday I had 2 eggs scrambled with bacon, corn beef hash and toast. The people there are always nice and the service is great.

A lot of food! Yum. Had the hash brown omelet and the cheese omelet and they were amazing. Bagels or bread with omelets. Sweetened tea was delish. I’ll be back– this place is better than panera!

I’ve heard great things about the Village Bread Café, both from reviews and from friends, so I knew I’d end up there eventually to scope it out. The atmosphere is indeed Panera-ish where you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The dessert and fresh bread display is also at the front, tempting you with everything from fresh baked ciabatta to oversized boston cream pie pastries. I went on a Monday morning, so thankfully there were only a few other tables occupied. I ordered the french toast breakfast with bacon and a side of hash browns. I had only sat for a few minutes when my plate arrived, nice and steamy. Their french toast is made from scratch, using their fresh baked bread, and the taste is superb. Alongside it, they serve you a teapot, from which you pour the hot, buttery maple goodness we call syrup. The bacon? Crispy with a nice thickness to it. They don’t use the cheap stuff here, I gather. And the hash browns? The«side order» took up an entire plate! It wasn’t just a small pile of hash browns or a patty, but a whole plate! I didn’t eat this breakfast, I inhaled it, that’s how much I loved it. Only setback was I like my french toast doused with powdered sugar. Just a preference. Needless to say, I left there way too stuffed(yet happy) to order a dessert selection. I’ll definitely make this a regular stop for breakfast!
