They did an awesome job on my sister’s birthday cake. She is a heart patient at Shands Gainesville. We told the girls the shape we wanted, the type of cake, and my sister’s favorite colors. They executed it beautifully. I was so excited seeing it that I was torn between happy tears and happy dancing. I about lost it when they suggested edible glitter cause glitter is another thing my sister loves and I didn’t know they had something that wondrous for cake. It was packed safely in a nice sturdy box since I had to drive across town to pick up my mom then to Gainesville. We followed instructions and kept the car cool. Cake made it to hospital with no issue. The flavors were perfect. All the nurses helped tear into it. The only reason there was a little left by time I had to leave hospital is because my sister wanted to save some for the night nurses. With all that said I will definitely be returning for my birthday cake in October :)

I’m not a big fan of sweets, but this one takes the cake – literally! The cakes here look and taste amazing. This is surely going to be our go to for any of our cake needs. No matter the event, you’re sure to enjoy a cake from this location…

I first tried For The Love Of Cake at Unilocal’s Big Moonbeam Bash. I had a few(or more) of their mini cupcakes and they were to die for. Wasn’t allowed to write a review about those though since it was a Unilocal Event. Fast Forward… Recently celebrated the birthday of a friend just before Christmas and the cake was speciality made by For The Love Of Cake. Not only was it absolutely beautiful, but it tasted amazing. Seriously the best coconut cake I’ve ever had. It was so incredibly moist. The fondant had just the perfect amount of sweetness. I’m not usually one to eat icing because I find it too sweet, but I couldn’t get enough of the fondant. My friends told me the owner is not only a fabulous baker, but a graphic designer. So, if you go in there with ideas, the folks at For The Love Of Cake can bring them to life in a delicious way! I still need to get over to Avondale for some of their every day sweets, but in the future, if I need a specialty cake, this will be the one and only stop I make!

I didn’t think it was ever possible for fondant to taste good. And then I tried Taylor’s cakes. This girl can work some magic. I had first gotten a taste of what she could do at the Moonbeam Bash( ) but there was so much going on that I couldn’t remember if I tried them or not. When putting together a birthday dinner for a friend, her man took care of the cake. Only ‘problem’ was I had to pick it up. No biggie; can do. Made my way over to Avondale & it was so hard not to cut into the cake. Must.Wait.Til.Party. The cake was coconut, but it wasn’t knock you over the head packed with flavor. It was a very light coconut and it was so tasty. What really wowed me was the fondant. Typically when I encounter a cake that has fondant, I peel off the fondant and eat the rest. Not this time. I ate every single bite. And even some of my husband’s icing. Don’t know when I’ll make it back her, but it’s nice to know there’s multiple options for delicious cakes in Jacksonville.

My husband and I hired For the Love of Cake for our wedding cake. I don’t like the look or taste of fondant, so we asked for just frosting on the outside with some delicate piped details and piped flowers on top. The taste of the cake was way more important to us than the look. We wanted to put our money into a great-tasting cake. Well, we were not disappointed in either respect. The cake looked phenomenal, but even better it tasted phenomenal. Everyone was raving about how delicious the cake was. We had NONE leftover. We got the almond-flavored white cake, with buttercream frosting, and strawberry filling. The texture, flavor, moisture, density — everything — about the cake itself was perfect. I highly recommend For the Love of Cake!

Not only are Taylor’s creations some of the most unique, beautiful and creative cakes and cupcakes in town, but the taste lives up to the beauty. I wanted something specific for my boyfriends 30th birthday… some kind of stout flavored cake with cream cheese frosting with Happy Birthday, beer or something Irish on top. I called Taylor a week and a half before the event, and she gladly accommodated me. I let her know what I was thinking, and after have been in the shop a few times and seeing the creative talent she possessed, let her run with it. So the big day came and I went to pick up the cake. I was absolutely floored. It was really beyond what I could have ever imagined! I seriously teared up, it was just… perfect. Taylor wasn’t in that day but her mother was, and she is a doll as well. She told me they had some much fun making this cake… and even though the bakery smelled of beer for a bit(and prompted some questions from the walk ins) that the end result was amazing. And I must agree. Taylor’s background is in the artistic and creative field, which makes her cakes so gorgeous, but one bite into the stout cake, and everyone agreed it was unbelievable: most, hint of stout, and the cream cheese frosting(my personal favorite) tied it all together. :) I am so glad I chose For The Love of Cake for this occasion, and with a wedding somewhere on the horizon, I definitely know where I will be headed. PS. She has a large variety of cupcakes available daily, which are perfect little samples of this woman’s culinary abilities. PSS. Uploading a pic.
