I had remarkable Mexican food at a nearby food truck the night before I tried Taco Naco and I have been to Mexico several times so the bar was already set high. Simply put, the food didn’t live up to expectations. I had the chicken and steak tacos. The chicken tacos were good but the steak tacos were marginal at best. The steak itself was dry and had an unusual taste to it. I had to add an excessive amount of mild sauce to the steak to make it edible. The atmosphere was not evaluated since the eatery is within the confines of a flea market(just do not take your first date here) and the service was better than expected. In sum, there are several places in the area I prefer over this one for tacos.

I grew up in south Texas, home to some of the greatest, most authentic Mexican restaurants. I’ve traveled to Mexico many times & have grandmothers that make tacos just like this. This is definitely NOT the taco bell crap or moe’s like food that the typical American usually thinks is «Mexican» food. If you want to try the Most authentic tasting Mexican food you will find in North Florida then you’re lucky you have this little stand at the beach blvd flea market! Try the cabeza, lengua, carne asada tacos! Omg my mouth waters just thinking of it. 3 for $ 5 tacos which you can easily make 6 tacos since they double up on the corn tortillas & really stuff in the meat. & their aguas frescas(fresh fruit waters) are great too! I’ve gone about 20 times & their food is consistently delicious & fresh tasting. Just for the record I’ve dined in at almost every Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville from Cantina Laredo, to all the chain Mexican restaurants including Mi pueblo, to Marias in San Jose which closed, to a family owned Mexican restaurant on University blvd which the owner even admitted to me that their food is Americanized due to them not having enough customers that want the«real stuff», and nothing Ive tasted is as good tasting & authentic as this little spot. So, if youyourere brave enough to try something different or to step aside from taco bell every once in a while, try these tacos!!! All I know is when I get give such or want the real deal I visit this place & have a big smile for the rest of the day! ;) That’s all.

Friendly service, delicious fresh food. Pretty damn good. Seems pretty authentic to me, but not as good as the food truck. El Taco Naco has a much more diverse menu, though. Some of the items on the menu include tamales, tacos, tortas, fruits on a stick(mango, pineapple, etc), and others. You can choose the type of meat(carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, etc). And yes, they also have the native agua drinks, like horchata, tamarind, coco, and mango. We ordered the torta and tacos last week. The meat was tender and marinated well and bursting with flavor. I ordered a tamarind agua to go with my torta. It was smooth and refreshing. It cost $ 5 for 3 tamales, and each torta cost $ 4 each. You can find this little food stand near stall D2 at the Beach Blvd Flea Market on Saturdays and Sundays.
