Ordered online since the line at the restaurant was long. I have been to the one in Manhattan but I knew it came from Jackson Heights. Ordered the Matador combo. Way too much for the two of us actually. We finished about half of it but we loved it. I think the food is as good as the restaurant. After you order online, you go to the cashier when you walk in. The cashier gives you a receipt and you go to the counter to pick it up. The only thing was they forgot to include utensils in the bag so I had to go back and ask for it. Other than that, the food was amazing and my bf is in love with this place.

I am a regular customer in the dine in pio pio but today I felt like eating my dinner at home. So I ordered 2 ceviches(one mixed and one limeño) for a two small container(~$ 35) and I regret buying it. It tasted waaaaay different than the ceviche from the dine in pio pio. It is the worst ceviche I have tasted ever in my life. It was bitter and it tasted like it wasn’t freshly made. Este ceviche sabe preor de ceviche carretia de parada. Give me back my money!!!

Today I saved my appetite for Pio Pio. A restuarant I used to love, until today. The minute I walked in, I wasnt even properly greeted. The girl just sat me. Instead of her asking me for a drink, I asked her for an inca kola. She came back with my beverage and I told her I wanted the quarter chicken combo. She nodded her head without saying a word.(unacceptable). The food did come quickly which was nice, and she did at the very least say«enjoy». As I was eating, She didnt even come over to see how I was doing. The food was great but the customer service was terrible!!! I dont know why I got such bad service, my order and presense was simple. Unfortunately I will never go back there again because when the service is terrible everything is terrible.

This takeout-centric offshoot across Northern lets you grab some chicken empanadas more easily.

Omg was I fooled ! PLEASEBEWARE THISISNOTTHESAMEFOODSERVEDATPIOPIODINEIN I was craving Ceviche one night and Pio Pio hands down has the best ceviche EVER So I figured I’ll order to go since I couldn’t find anyone to dine with. The ceviche I received was nothing compared to the original. It has small imitation chewy shrimp, and inedible calamari. If you are expecting the the same quality, you are in for a rude awakening

Very good Peruvian style rotisserie chicken to go. Combined with rice and beans and I am good to go. There are a few tables here, but the more attractive option, if you are eating in, would be to dine in the larger restaurant across the street on Northern Boulevard.

I have mix feelings about Pio Pio to go, the concept is pretty simple, place your order, pay and pick up. While the process is simple and they manage to do a good job at it, something is missing… After coming here quite often to pick my orders I realized they lock people skills, now I don’t want to be treated as if I was loyalty or anything like that, but would a smile hurt? A please and thank you. I feel like everything I go out there they are doing me a favor, like it is an inconvenience, keep in mind I have seen different staff and all but it seems like everyone gets trained to not be customer service oriented. Thats just my 2 cents, aside from that good food, pollo a la brasa does justice… I cant say much about their jalea as they do lock the experience on how to nail it but aside from that I give it a mediocre rating overall.

I used to go to the actual resteraunt a lot but because of time I always order from the to-go location now. Honestly, I find that the to-go is better, the only thing missing is the Sangria. They are extremely clean, the food is cooked well, there is never a wait, when you call they take your order and tailor it just how you want it. When you go in everyone is very pleasant and helpful. The cooks work hard and the establishment is wonderful.

This place is my #1 spot maduros(sweet plantains) the portion is bigger than most place but not as greasy. I found out about this place from my Elite friend who has been nagging me about joining Unilocal. It’s an decent place but that’s because it’s a take-out location and not a dine-in(even though there are always people dining in). So that being said it is your standard take out restaurant nothing spectacular. The first time I came here I went with the fried chicken, rice and beans separate, sweet plantains. Now though, I have limited my order to just sweet plantains and rice and beans. I’m not a fan of their chicken. Their empanadas are also good too, but it did not make my cut for order list. Word of advice make sure you ask for the green sauce it makes everything better.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve been to Pio Pio, I stopped by this location not even realizing that it was a smaller to go version of the other restaurant right down the block? Business has to good that they can afford to this. Good for them !! As for this location small, nicely lit with some seating available. Once seated we got our menus & were ready to order. I tried the half Roasted Chicken w Yuca Fries & a Salad … I forgot how tasty this Chicken was, man oh man definitely can’t go wrong with the Chicken. Good Salad & Yuca fries a bit dry but dip them In the garlic sauce or green sauce & problem solved. My friend had the half Chicken with Rice & Beans, Salad plus a side order of Green Plantains. Decent rice & beans, great fried plantains of course better when dipped in either sauce. Quick friendly service along with cheap prices u just can’t go wrong.

I came here for the lunch special. Quarter chicken with rice and beans. I also had the empanadas and the Maduras. The empanadas are some of the best I every had plus the spicy green sauce was really good too. Next time I have to have the Sangria. Very good place.

Went there for the first time and was handed a menu and ordered the half chicken and rice and beans. As for the actual food-the rice was bland and the beans were still rather hard. The half chicken was neither hot nor was it very flavorful. I would have been better off picking up a rotisserie chicken at waldbaums. Once I finished my unimpressive lunch, my bill came and this is where my major issue happened. My bill came and my half chicken(listed as $ 6) and my rice and beans($ 4) are now $ 9 and $ 5 respectively. I argued with my waited and the hostess and told them that it doesn’t state different prices based on dine in or to go. I left with a bad taste in my mouth from this food and an even worse one from this price discrepancy. NEVERAGAINPIOPIO!

They are rude on the phone and the prices don’t match the menu on Unilocal.I won’t order from them again and I haven’t even got my food yet! Food is delicious! Wish the service was better!!!

My friend was craving for maduros(sweet plantains) so I Unilocaled a few places and we decided to take a drive here for the to go option. We had originally came here for the maduros … But obviously being me, I have to get more — plus I was super hungry. We turn out getting 2 Maduros, Saffron Rice & Red Beans and Juanita’s(half) Chicken. The Maduros they gave for the price was a huge portion … One order would have been enough, but I’m not complaining. And it wasn’t oily at all so that was a plus. The Saffron Rice & Red Beans were really good as well. Eating it with the sauce and the Maduros was simply amazing. The Chicken however wasn’t our cup of tea. It was soft and tender, but it was lacking flavor. The ladies at the cash register were nice. However, they had failed to mention to us and other customers that we had to go to the counter with the receipt to inform the kitchen to pack our food. It would have be more customer oriented if the ladies can indicated on the POS system that it was a «to go» order … Instead of having us inform the kitchen ourselves. Overall, the food was good. We will definitely take a drive back to get the Maduros and Rice & Beans.

I have no qualms about the taste of the food here. I absolutely love the taste of Pio Pio food. Whenever I come to the restaurant I always order the matador combo which includes roasted chicken, yellow rice, beans, tostones(fried banana) salad and fries with cut up hot dogs. Of course not to forget the delicious green sauce and some type great dressing. This meal is fit for a group. Pio Pio has separated into two sections. One is the restaurant and other one Pio Pio to go. This review is about the Pio Pio to go which is located across the street from the restaurant. I went to cashier placed my order and paid and waited for the food. The cashier was rude no hello, no smile or thank you. I felt as though I was making her pay for my food. I waited near the tables and watched the clock as I waited for my food. That’s the time I realized that you have to go to the counter and show give the receipt for your order to be placed. Was I informed of this procedure … NO annoyed and angry I waited for my food. However I didn’t take that long for it to be filled. As I looked around I realized that there was no bathroom for the customers. Only a bathroom for the employees which is located in the kitchen yukkkkkk… of course it had a door and everything but oh my God, that’s just awful. Mind you there are couple tables for customers dine in. God forbid if they had to use the bathroom. I guess you have to use the restaurant bathroom after you show your receipt. I did not see any grade for the sanitary level for this place. However I must say the food is great as usual. However from now on I think I will just stick to going only to the restaurant.

After trying PIo Pio there is no other place that I can eat Peruvian cuisine from. — Their rotisserie chicken is always moist and flavorful. — Chicken fried rice tastes better than most Chinese restaurants. — The green sauce is one of the most beautiful things in the world. I have yet to be disappointed!

I was craving rotisserie chicken, but I’d only eaten at Pio Pio’s sit-down restaurant before, so I decided to try Pio Pio to Go this time. I called them to order for delivery, but the phone kept ringing and putting me on hold — no one was answering. I figured they were really busy, so I decided to walk the ten blocks from my apartment to the restaurant, since I couldn’t reach them by phone. When I got there, it was the exact oppposite: there was ONE other customer there, and it wasn’t busy at all. The girls who were working there didn’t say hello when I walked in – in fact, they completely ignored me, because they were so preoccupied with watching novelas on the TV. I had to walk up to them and say«Excuse me…» before they even acknowledged my existence. Even when they were taking my order, they were watching the TV and barely paying attention. The food was ready quickly, so I know they weren’t busy, especially because there were no customers… so how come no one had answered the phone when I called? I guess they were too busy with their novelas. The food here is great but the service is horrible and it really makes the restaurant look bad. I won’t be ordering from here again.

This location is smaller and more of a quick sit down, eat & go place. If You want some good chicken and cheap, this is the place to go. I recommend the Matador combo. Chicken, plantains, avocado salad, rice & beans & fries and sausage for $ 38(around that price). Also try the Jalea(fried seafood platter) Service is quick and food is very fresh. The red sangria is a must :)

PIOPIO to go is a nice quaint restaurant/take out. The place has about 4 to 6 small tables for seating and is just across the street from the PIOPIO restaurant. Food is the same old goodies from across the street. This is the place to go to if you are with another person or small group. It also opens a little earlier than the PIOPIO restaurant. Also, what is amazing about this place is that they have a LUNCH special which the restaurant is lacking. PERFECT if you want to order a matador-like combo just for two people, instead of the ginormous portions the other restaurant gives. Service is decent. Wear sunblock, cause those rays hit through the glass windows pretty hard.
