I ordered the lomo saltado sandwich to go and loved it – tender, juicy, lots of flavor. The place was empty when I was there, but I imagine it gets busy. There’s a great mural inside. The manager offered me a free Peruvian juice while I waited. It’s a limited menu, but great value for such delicious sandwiches.

This is real Peruvian food! Although the menu is limited, it’s absolutely mouth watering. I highly recommend the Lomo Saltado sandwiches! The restaurant also has a nice mural and is a great environment.

This place is a great concept for Peruvian food. No fuss just sandwiches and some staple Peruvian drinks and beer in a nicely decorated place. It’s hard to find authentic Peruvian breakfast at a good price and hearty servings. I think the only thing missing was the Salchicha. I ordered take out early in the morning for me and my large Peruvian family. I rushed it home ego make sure we ate warm and buns were nicely toasted. Plenty of meat in every sandwich. Sweet potatoes and onion salad were perfect! Cash only. I really hope this place sticks around, it took me a wrong turn to find it but worth it!

Are you Peruvian looking for that perfect lomito al jugo or chicharron sandwich? Well let me tell you that this is the place here in NYC which is as close as it will get to being in Peru enjoying one either in el centro de Lima or Parque Kennedy. The chicharron sandwich is delicious, not as juicy as it should be but awesome. The lomo sandwich was even better though, it’s pretty much the Pio Pio Lomo Saltado on bread with the fries on the side. The Chicha was average but fresh, the Maracuya was great, and the Quinoa hot beverage was soooo good. Only downside was that is CASH only which makes no sense cuz Amaru(next door literally) and Pio Pio(across the street) both accept credit cards, mind you it’s the same owner. So either this spot is a quick business to hide some cash or something else is going on cuz the owner definitely has no need for business liquidity… but more importantly the food is great!

After watching«Street Food Around the World» on Netflix ‘Lima, Perú’ edition, the craving for a «Pan Con Chicharon» was at 100%. Learning that there is a place that sells sandwiches nearby was a quick option and opted to give it a try. This place is underrated. For sure! The food was amazing. Tried two sandwiches. The«Pan con Chicharon» accompanied with Sweet Potato slices(fried) and a Salsa Criolla(Thinly cut onions with tomatoes [sometimes peppers] with lemon and pepper) and the«Lomo Saltado Sanwich» which was sliced steak with tomatoes and onions with melted cheese on top accompanied by frenchfries. I’ll tell you this much, came in craving the Pan con Chicharon, left satisfied by the Lomo Saltado Sanwich. Food is amazing. And the Juhonde Macaruya was quite pleasant. Definitely try out the Quinoa and apple hot beverage(can’t remember the name, sorry!) But it was really pleasant! The ONLY reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because its a Cash only place, and thankfully I was carrying cash. But any other day, that would be very annoying. Can’t wait to go back and try the other sandwiches!

Solid joint to get sandwiches for lunch or dinner — they’re quite filling, but taste wise, it doesn’t quite hit the spot. My boyfriend and I ordered a Lomo Saltado and a Chicharron as recommended by the waiter. Lomo Saltado was on the salty side and the Chicharran was comparably quite bland. Fries were a little limp. Service is good, décor is good, but I can’t really bring myself to come back unless I happen to be in the neighborhood.

I love a good sandwich place and this is a GREAT place. I like the contemporary décor and the sandwiches were delicious. I had the crispy pork shoulder sandwich, which had a lot of tasty, succulent pork that came on a warm soft bun. It was delicious and filling. Adding a beer only cost a couple of bucks more which made this a great value as well.

So I’ve been wanting to come here in forever… finally I made it in today around lunch time with my cousin. As we entered we were quickly greeted by the waiter and promptly seated, besides we basically had the café to ourselves! The walls so beautifully painted, the décor modern and simple. The ambience just perfect and the music station was awesome too! We had read the menu online before going in so we knew what we were going in for. I ordered the lomo Sandwich with French fries and she had the chicharrón Sandwich with sweet potatoes and a glass of sangria which we absolutely loved! My son has the salchipapa which came out and looked delicious. Everything tasted great, although we are serious eaters I could not manage to eat the whole sandwich but I did save it and ate it later on… Tasted even better! It’s a bit on the pricier side for just sandwiches but I will definitely be back. I’m glad I made the choice of finally taking myself there. Another good Peruvian joint

A modern-esque latin sandwich joint, which was a delightful experience but nothing spectacular. I cant confirm how authentic the food is prepared or tastes. We got the lomo saltado which was super flavorful, but they skimped on the meat, which was disappointing. The chicharron noticeably had ample meat, but was a little bland compared to the lomo saltado. The portions did not justify the prices for the sandwiches. This place is worth a try, but i doubt ill be coming back.

Butifarra is great. The combo includes a drink and fries and is ultimately worth the price. Interesting hours, will definitely become more popular as it becomes established. Maybe some alterations to the menu will help, they are open to ideas

Learned that Juanita’s is a sister Peruvian restaurant to the PIOPIO restaurant across the street. Another great place. It has a modern but industrial ambiance and beautiful art décor. The only drawback is the limitation of menu.(Only sandwiches as entrees.)Yet Been here three times in past month. Gotta have their«quinoa y manzana» hot drink fresh in the morning. LOVELOVE the drink which is loaded with apples with cinnamon twist. Passion fruit drink was fresh and tangy and purple corn drink(?)… new flavor I need to get used to. I always get the chicharron sandwich. The pork is tender and juicy. The sweet potato layer underneath adds a sweet taste to the sandwich. Don’t forget to dip the sandwich in to the infamous Pio Pio green sauce that they place on your table. YUM! Nestor who seems to be the shop manager is great always serving us complementary sample drink. That’s how learned about this special hot drink. Great marketing! I’m hooked on this. Will post pictures next time.

I when with my family a few days they open, we go to many places before and good food and many ways to feel welcome a customer. We enter and no warm welcome from the owner or maneger, and we were the only ones there that day, no conversation how we knew about them or smile. The food was not bad but not great. We are not coming back. The only great was the décor.

I had the butifarra with sweet potatoes on the side plus a glass of chicha morada. It was really good ! I’m coming back to try the rest of the menu. Prices are good. Restaurant is well decorated, clean, nice ambience and they even have a cool patio!

I really have no words for how great this place is! The food was delicious, the service was awesome and the price was right. My boyfriend and I shared the Lomo Saltado sandwich and the Chicharron sandwich, both came with fries and a drink. The outdoor space in the back was a real plus! I highly recommend coming here, you won’t be disappointed. We will be coming back again — probably weekly!

One of our new fav neighborhood spots. Sweet potato fries were so fresh. Everything was. Lomo saltado sandwich una delicia! And chicharon sandwich was even better. Thick cut slices of pork AND a little side of encebollado. Perfect mix on the plate. Prices are good and service was awesome as well. Young man who took care of us was super nice. He let me try the quinoa and apple drink before I made my decision.

SOLID Sandwich joint. This place is #1FUN and #2DELICIOUS. Loved it. The food is great, the green sauce is spicier than over at Pio Pios but its perfect. Prices are great, service is great. This place is Great.

We enjoyed our time in the outdoor space at this newly minted Café owned by the same proprietors as Pio Pio. It’s Peruvian fare was satisfying and stuck to simple basics. Currently they offer free samples of a typical drink — Quinoa and Apple which was refreshing. The sandwiches we tried were fresh and well seasoned. We also enjoyed the accompaniment of hand cut fries and sweet potato fries. Finally there were condiments to delight the tastebuds including the slightly spicy green sauce Pio Pio always has on hand, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. For a great sandwich and drink with all the fixings this is your spot. The fact that they are getting their liquor license in three weeks doesn’t hurt either. Buen provecho!

Peruvian sandwiches sides and unique beverages. Unlike anything else in the area. Have tried the lomo, chicken and steak sandwiches and they were all terrific. Hope this place considers delivery as I think they are perfect for a weeknight dinner any day of the week. Have also had the chicha and quinoa Apple drinks and love them.

Wonderful. Nobody but me in there for lunch today, but that’s going to change quickly as word spreads about the awesome — no exaggeration, I’m in awe — food. Let’s start with the simplicity — cash only, sandwiches and beverages. Done. But the sandwiches, my dear lord! I ordered the roast beef sandwich — the Asado. If you’re thinking sliced cold cuts — STOP. Nope. Big old slice of roasted beef, cooked in front of you in gravy served with fresh marinated onions, some mystery green chopped veggie goodness(I think shadobeni may have been in there…) served on a(reasonably fresh) ciabatta(I believe) roll. The sauce, while unique, tangy and strong, didn’t take away from the roast beef. The texture, the delicate flavor, like… like a passenger on a ship of sauce, but a happy passenger blowing kisses to the people on shore… if that’s a thing. Now on to the fries. They should be awful. By all rights they should not be good — although they are clearly cut on-site and fried in front of you, they are too oily and the potato seems undercooked, but somehow(and I swear I don’t understand it) they’re fantastic! I passed them out to people at work, and they all had the same response. «That looks oily, but… Oh man! That’s good!» For a beverage, I got to sample(very kind fellow behind the counter, Nestor [according to the receipt]) the three home-brewed drinks. The chicha morada(a sweet purple corn-based [I think] drink very similar to sorrel) was a keeper. The mango something was good, but not as sweet as I’d hoped. Both were cold choices and good in their own way, but the hot beverage, apple and quinoa was completely different. More a small meal than a drink, it’s got cinnamon(and I swear there’s a little clove in there) and it’s got pieces of apple as well as the quinoa. You could easily enjoy it as a side dish with a spoon, or sip it if you’re feeling wild and wooly in the crisp March air. As for the ambiance, the owner is the same guy that owns Pio Pio so it has the same local feel to the art — painted by local artists, antique looking comfy furniture, and even a lovely outdoor area in back which will be a treat when the weather warms up. Can’t wait to go back and try the other 7 sandwiches! OH! The best part, the fries and the sandwich — 8 bucks! Good lord, smack my butt and call me Sally, I’ll take two!(Really, I got two — I was getting lunch for coworkers…)
